A very poor game today Russ you didn't miss much at all . Basildon packed their defence the lanky guy at the back held them together .They never threatened us for one moment , I don't remember Steve making a single save at all . In fact he only touched the ball half a dozen times in the 93 mins played. Sherwin ,Sean and Graeme all had real stinkers today as well .

They all had stinkers today. Wrong attitude shown by the boys today in thinking this would be an easy game . These things happen in football I'm afraid . Much more effort next wednesday please boys.

We have signed Chris Thomas today from clapton, he has notched up 13 strikes this season .

To be fair lads what did you expect? You're talking about a team/club in transition and that got beat by APSA 6-0 only two weeks ago!!!

I would imagine a 0-0 against the league leaders was more than they wished!

Basildon 0-0 Enfield

With just 2 minutes played Sherwin Stanley broke through but Anthony Hughes was out quickly to close him down and Sherwin put his shot inches wide. Sherwin Stanley again got in behind his marker but this time Anthony Hughes saved Sherwin's powerful drive well. Good work from Deniz Mehmet but Sherwin Stanley put this one wide from a tight angle. On 19 mins A shot from 25 yards by Chris Green but this one flew well over the bar .Basildon's Rob Hardy found himself booked for a clumbsy challenge on 21ins . Good work from Ricardo Armado and then a good cross but Deniz Mehmet steered his shot wide 22 mins. Paul Oshin was taken down by Paul Docherty and Referee Mr Barnes booked Basildon's No6 despite his protests . Moments later Paul Oshin was booked for a foul on Michael Frentimann. Steve Wright at last had something to do as he punched away a freekick by James Cross on 36 mins. Adilson Lopes was next to have a shye but this one went straight at Anthony Hughes who saved easily on 41 mins. Another good chance for E's was wasted as Sean Clarke put over a good cross but Adilson Lopes put wide . H/T

2nd Half Sherwin Stanley does well to slip his marker and put over a good cross to Sean Clarke but he scuffs his shot straight at Anthony Hughes and another chance was lost. (E's sub Lee Benmore off for Neil Hughes 55 mins and for Basildon Rob Hardy off for Daniel French 56 mins) Graeme Butler's freekick wes met by Adilson Lopes but he heads over the crossbar 61 mins. Good work by Deniz Mehmet finds Neil Hughes who somehow manages to scoop his shot over Anthony Hughes's crossbar 65 mins. (E's sub Graeme Butler off for Mark Whittington 70 mins) On 72 mins Ricardo Armado's corner was met by Adilson Lopes but he fires it wide . Steve Wright (who could have sat in the stand up to now) Raced off his line to clear away a rare Basildon attack as Daniel French got clear of E's defence 76 mins. On 78 mins Adilson Lopes put Sean Clarke in with a good chance but Anthony Hughes saved it. (E's sub Sean Clarke off for Kevin Riley 82 mins. Despite having bags of possession Mr Barnes whistle ,And the assistants offside flag thwarted any furthur chances . Fair play to Basildon they defended well.

It would appear Barking's Management & players have Jumped ship to Aveley , could it be that one of our rivals is to drop out of the title race ?
