  1. Our very good away support in this competition has more than payed for our teams hotel and food costs when travelling. In contrast there has been virtually no away support coming to our place. The apathy to the competition from fans of other clubs speaks volumes. As does the fact that Town put out an under strength team for this latest tie (with some of our best players not even travelling). Playing teams on astro turf training courts and on grounds that are not even up to step 9 level feels regressive.
  2. I think we have all seen enough breaks in the weather this month to be able to cut our lawns at least once or twice.
  3. This competition seems to be a bit shambolic and poorly organised to be honest. Is good to experience something different and to experience playing clubs from other countries, but we need to think seriously as whether to accept any future invitation unless there are guarantees of a more professional approach by the organisers and by some of the clubs involved going forwards.
  4. It is vital to make 3rd place in order to secure a home tie in the first knock-out game. Is going to be difficult to win one away play-off tie, let alone win 2 away ties to progress.
  5. Just a heads up to those running the clubs website. If you search for Enfield Town FC on Google it still says that Andy Leese is our manager from information taken from our official website. On a more positive note, the Shop section is looking better with plenty of variety and merchandise.
  6. Blimey..I was presuming Enfield Town would go in the NL South if promoted? But who knows.
  7. From where our club is located i don't think there is that much difference in overall travelling times between the National South over the Isthmian Premier.
  8. The old EFC competed at the top level for decades not because of big investment from the chairman but because the chairman was willing to invest all the money from the clubs entertainment venue (The starlight Room) into making the club successful at the top level. Plus investing all the money from cup runs. ETFC need to keep the same structure we currently have in order to guarantee long term security for the club. What we need is to somehow find the funding to build a new 'Bar/Entertainment Venue' within the grounds of the stadium in order to sustainably fund progression. I know this has already been muted within the club and various locations within the ground have been looked at as possible viable areas.
  9. When Gavin was installed as manager, i looked up his interviews after some Met Police games the season before. What interested me after the games they lost was how similar the interviews were to Andy Leese's... Ie. How disappointed and frustrated he was that the players did not listen to instructions. The need to respond positively after a disappointing display .etc My mind was put to rest in the first half of the season with an upturn in performance and entertainment over Andy's last season. The last 6 weeks though we seem to have slipped back to how we were last season.
  10. Starting to look like most other seasons over the last decade. We either end up a few places off the play-off's, or we scrape into 5th and lose the first knock-out game. Was hoping it might be different with Gavin in charge. Next season will be the acid test on whether it is just more of the same, of if Gavin can take us to the next level that previous managers have not been able to do..
  11. Annoying that on the last two saturday games that have been called off at the QE the weather has been dry (or forecast dry) all that day. Looks like the pitch now requires at least 24 hours to drain after each heavy rain spell.
  12. Didn't make the game last night and now watch half of our games through the highlights on youtube as i live a long way from Enfield now. What jumps out to me when looking at goals we have conceded this season is how many could have been prevented if the nearest players to the ball had given 100% commitment to breaking up the attack, shutting down, blocking a cross or shot. Sometimes 3 or 4 players nearest to the threat on our goal seem to be going through the motions (and just doing enough) rather than putting their bodies on the line.
  13. I heard we had slightly the better of a scrappy game but that Hornchurch had half their team missing. We need to put a couple of wins together quickly otherwise we will gradually start to slip out of the play off places.
