I see that London Rangers, formerly Ruislip Manor and Tokyngton Manor, will continue to compete in the Combined Counties League Division Two this coming 2025/26 season. The West London based Club, founded in 1938, are currently on a trajectory to reach the same heady heights of where they were previously and competing in the FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Vase, indeed in 1990/91 the Club (Ruislip Manor) reached the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup narrowly missing out on a home First Round proper tie against Tranmere Rovers. As Tokyngton Manor, following the sad demise of Ruislip Manor in 2008, the Club's achievements, in their short existence at senior level, were modest however they did compete in the FA Cup and FA Vase in both the 2008/09 and 2009/10 campaigns. In 2017 the Club embarked on a high profile partnership with Glasgow Rangers which, unfortunately, has 'gone cold' of late as the Scottish Club queried the connection, under the Tokyngton Manor banner there was a hugely successful partnership with Queens Park Rangers whereby the 'Super Hoops' couldn't do enough for the Club with the majority of players from their West London catchment area:

First of all what a great club, lovely people, generous hospitality and absolutely incredible facilities, which we will be lucky enough to use again in the league cup. And the pitch, wow, not seen a game on a carpet like that for a while, not since our win at Preston Park at Easter.

Which brings me to a worrying stat. Today's result means we have only won that 1 game out of our last 15 league outings. It's shocking but also not representative of where we are as a club, we have a strong basis with some good players, and showed that in a very competitive first half in which we missed at least 3 fantastic chances, so instead of going in 2 down we should have been going in level at worst.

After our best 45 of the fledgling season though we were undone by an early third for the hosts and heads dropped, a missed penalty not helping matters but to their credit Jets kept fashioning chances until the last, by which time our goal had been breached a couple more times.

We'll play worse than we did today and win, our left winger was magnificent and had the right back on toast all afternoon. Lions played an expansive game which was easy on the eye and will be there or thereabouts come April. Despite 1 point from 9 (and we're lucky to have that, truth be told) I'm not too disheartened as I can see better days ahead for the nucleus of this side.

Raynes Park Vale 1-2 Badshot Lea

Badshot Lea won this game of two teams who were unbeaten after five games before kick-off. The score at half-time was 1-1 and deservedly so, with Vale's Ethan Archer scoring a brilliant solo goal. Badshot were the stronger side in the second half and deserved their ultimate victory and will be a force to be reckoned with in the South division, but Raynes Park Vale will be no easy game and may have an outside chance at a promotion shot.

Redhill 0-4 Jersey

In a game that looked like two challengers for Prem South beforehand, Jersey ended up easy winners.

The first goal was from a free kick after a rash challenge just outside the box. The second was a quickly taken free kick by Redhill, but given straight to a Jersey player, who rode two challenges before squaring to a teammate to finish. The third was the best goal of the game. A free kick near the halfway line was played into the forward, who controlled and volleyed in. High quality finish. The fourth was perhaps harsh on Redhill, who worked hard, but struggled to really test the Jersey keeper.

Jersey look like a side who will again be challenging for promotion from this division.

I was hoping at some point a game of football might break out in this one, but it never did. Two sides who look destined for mid-table, with a willingness to work hard and be physical, but a lack of that real quality you need to win the league. Already, the South Division looks tougher than the North once again, and I'd be surprised if either of these sides are up there. The one goal came from a penalty, but other than a goal mouth scramble where Knaphill got plenty of bodies in the way, and a terribly fluffed one on one late on from Knaphill, there were very few decent chances, and even few tests of the goalkeepers.

Cracking game at Preston Park last night, The Hares went 2 up early on with two quality strikes with Windsor pulling one back just before the break. Early second half Harefield extended their lead with another quality goal from the Pacman, then the heaven's opened and Windsor scored their second with a neat free kick, As an aside the Hares front line was lead by veteran striker Richard Pacquette 39 years young,While Windsors number 9 was the evergreen Barry Hayles a sprightly 50 year old. Great stuff.

Les Smith, a Redhill FC Legend by David Barber

Since the last home match against Camberley the Club has been sad to hear of the passing of Les Smith, our Vice-President and Life Member. In former times Les was Club President and, in some of our glory days in the 1960s, Club Secretary.

Appointed Secretary in 1963 he arranged for then Manager Eric Nicholls to be given a three-year contract to give the Club some stability and three years later the Reds were good enough to win the Surrey Senior Cup, defeating Isthmians Sutton United 4-3 in the Final at Tooting. For Les personally he was now on a journey that would lead to him becoming one of the top football administrators in the history of the county.

Subsequently he represented Surrey on The Football Association Council, sitting on important Committees at Lancaster Gate and Soho Square, before becoming a Vice-President and then a Life-President of The FA.

But he would still be standing near the touchline with his friends at every Redhill game, his last an Isthmian League fixture against Carshalton at the Brow before he left for Scotland to be near his son Nigel when he was in his 80s. Nigel was an alpine skier who represented Great Britain.

A great one-club man, we will all miss Les.

...what happened to this forum? Because it's had more posts than any of the others historically, yet literally no one posts here anymore. I know the league has been restructured and teams have come and gone, but at one time it must have been the place for sharing reports, banter, gossip, speculation, all the stuff I want from a forum. Where has everyone gone? I found one thread on NLM but no posts added since 21 July.

Seriously, 11 new threads this calendar year? Had that many a week in the Spartans (admittedly most of them started by @Rhodes, but still).

Any chance of having sight of some fixtures? I wasn't too thrilled about joining the CCL in the first place, and I'm growing more disillusioned by the day. Everyone else seems to have had theirs.

Jim Powell aka Step 7 Jim

Bedfont & Feltham FC Gateman Jim Powell passed away on the 25th of May in Hillingdon Hospital from a heart attack. I also believe that he sometimes did the gate at British Airways FC home games as well and in the past he did the gate at Hanwell Town FC from time to time. Jim Powell was a proper non league football man and he was a member of this forum under the name Step 7 Jim. Jim will be sadly missed around the local grassroots football grounds especially in the West London area and North West London area.

If you ever feel some chest pains, get advice, I put mine down to a pulled muscle, don't leave it, get a check-up....I just carried on, going to work like you do, then last Friday night I had trip to Tunbridge Wells Hospital A&E, then Re-sus and then on to the Coronary care unit. spent some hours being treated but it was decided I needed a fast trip to St Thomas' Hospital in Westminster coronary care department where they are geared up for every eventuality. So Sunday l was having some amazing keyhole surgery, Tuesday (17th) evening I'm being taxied home completed with carrier bag of meds.

An amazing amount for care and treatment from the staff who were so funny and great at removing the stress of a heat attack. Cant wait to get back out on Groundsman duties.
