  1. It goes without saying that for any successful team there needs to be a core of stand-out quality players. These players are naturally celebrated and cherished by supporters and a privileged few become club legends. Any successful team also needs to have squad players who can play wherever required and can always be relied upon to put in a decent performance. There are no prizes for guessing which of those two categories Ronnie belongs to, but in my view his contribution to our success in the last two seasons deserves its own recognition. I am sorry that he has left and I hope he finds what he is looking for at his next club.

    Not to be

Obviously gutted but there’s a number of factors here. Firstly, that physical battering from Enfield a few days ago, culminating in losing our player of the season in the final, that took a toll. Secondly , Cheshunt are the in form team in the league, some good defending from them today (one hell of a last ditch block from a defender showed the spirit of the team). Thirdly, that was a special second goal from them, worthy of a win. And we didn’t get the rub of the green which you need in games like this - still not sure why that goal was disallowed at the end. After an injury hit first half of the season, to get this close is a testament to the players and management at Hornchurch and we just need move on from this season and get ready to go again. Might be a bit more open next season, the best team in the league for the last two seasons , Worthing are not there next time so that makes it more interesting. Yet again more praise for Dave Holland, our amazing kit man and one of the nicest guys you’re ever likely to meet, he’s going to be missed. Well done to Cheshunt and we move on

    Season starts now.

It hasn’t been good overall to date with injuries to key players and perhaps not having the rub if the green on occasions together with coming down to earth after the amazing Trophy win and teams raising their game because of this. it’s time to look forward now and effectively start again starting with today and a push towards a run towards a play off spot. This may seem unlikely at the moment but most in this division are capable of beating each other and a winning run would see us moving up the table with the momentum. Everyone from the hardcore to be the occasional fan needs something to shout about. This is a tremendous club with great potential to play at a higher level. You never know we could be playing Southend United next season. Come on you Urchins!

  6. Massive win for us , we are really down to the bare bones in terms of players with both Sam and Liam out , with Charlie and Toby leading the line. The whole team worked so hard today against a determined Wingate side. Tight first half, creating chances second half and they eventually paid off. Decent support from us today. We’ve threatened to go top on a couple of occasions recently but today it’s happened (yes it all depends who’s top at the end of the season but this does signal that we’re in the race) Well done guys COYU

  9. The 2.1 score line was not a fair reflection of the game, with better luck and finishing this game should have been a thrashing. But it is great to watch us make so many chances. Considering that 7 regular starters were missing from the line up it shows that with our recent signings we building up strength in depth. Well done to Tom Wraight who has scored in both games he has played for us. Our new strategy of winning football matches is something that I am really getting behind ? Long may it continue.

  11. At the moment this is all a bit embarrassing. FA Trophy winners, loads of momentum going into the new season yet here we are, languishing towards the bottom of the table and knocked out of both cups by sides who, let's face it, were pretty rubbish. I really feel for the players, no-one wants to lose, they are busting a gut to turn this around but it's just not happening. We've done well off the pitch in terms of attracting sponsors etc but our squad was never big enough to cope with the rigours of a new season. Last season we could operate with a squad of 15/16 players when we're playing once every 4 weeks but not when playing twice a week and with the inevitable injuries and suspensions. So when we did get those injuries (granted - more than we would have expected) we end up scrambling around in the "transfer" market bringing in players who simply aren't good enough - players from clubs 2 levels below the level we're playing at. It's no wonder our form is poor. It's also very sad to see lads like Sak Hassan leave. He's a very good player now and will be even better in the future but without any means to develop him or give him competitive game time he's going to want to leave. We have no Academy, no U21 side and no U23 side where players coming through our youth set up can play competitively and follow a pathway to the first team. You can almost guarantee that the lads that make up our U18s side now will move onto new clubs at the end of the season. We bring these players on, nurture them, educate them, yet lose them because there's no route to the first team. Final point, on the subject of communication .. I'd love to be able to provide more info and insights on the website as to player availability etc but the club simply does not share any of this info. We (the HFCSA) have asked for years to get formal communications going with the club especially with social media so important but all requests simply fall on deaf ears. It's frustrating, especially when we find the Romford Recorder have more info on the club than appears on the club's own website. But a culture change is needed to address that and let's face it, that won't happen. On a positive note .. despite the doom and gloom this squad, assuming it stays injury free, is easily good enough to start climbing the table. For 3 or 4 of our previous games we should have been out of sight by half time but either through poor finishing or good goalkeeping we haven't been and have been made to pay for it second half when we've not been able to hit the same heights. We need a scrappy 1-0, then the wins will start to come and the play-offs will soon be within reach.

Fantastic second half blew the hosts away Tricky first half but some how came in at the interval one up.Second half Ola gave us a different dimension and ran riot should have been 3 nil before it was 2 nil such was our superiority of our performance.Just like to add good support in numbers following the team and secondly the Lodge is some ground must be National standard so to win there makes it all the sweeter up the Urchins

    Margate 1 Hx 3

First off just a big shout out to my mom Joe Christou , stepping in to be goalkeeper he did a remarkable job. Secondly well done to the Margate fans , impeccably behaved and there was clearly no sign of issues whatsoever , Hornchurch fans as always were well behaved. Good game and competitive Sam, Joe, Liam ,Ola played well in fact everyone played well. To put in a performance like that with the players we have out was amazing. Margate also played well, deserved their goal and made it a competitive game. Good goals all around pleased for Jack actually well done to Hornchurch COYU

    No shame lads

Full marks to the Oxford number 15 - when a ballboy fell over quite heavily he ran over to him, helped him up, and checked that he was alright. A very nice gesture that went largely unnoticed.

  15. Now that any tiny particles of dust of disappointment have settled... Can I just say a massive well done and thanks to everyone at the Club, our manager, the players, background staff, volunteers, bar staff and especially the fans who make us feel so very welcome on every visit. Belfast Urchins would love to sponsor Tom Wraight again...for a full season and can send payment through whenever this opens again next season? Up the chins and see you all soon! ❤⚽️❤ Thanks - I cannot start the list yet (until we know who is in the quad next season), but I always give the previous sponsor first choice. So your name is there against Tom Wraight. Tony

Even I can't remember a winning run like this even going back to the crazy days of J&K,in a good place now after the sloppy start to the season which I think was expected after the trophy epics, well another big scalp who were on an almighty uneaten run, to give you some idea of where we are we had the luxury of bring on Liam,Ollie and Ellis, the game turned in an instant being a goal up Joe pulled off a crucial save and before you know we're 2 nil up,good crowd and lots of new faces Stortford had a decent number of fans down but no noise, well one happy Urchin today

  22. Are we just going to ignore the fact we persist in playing players out of position hoping we will click? Once again we've had more then enough time to get a centrehalf on duel reg to deputise for Hayles/Clarke but instead play Parcell. We've got a striker who looks like he will never score in Bricknell (not replaced Dicko) and we left our 2 most creative players on the bench bringing on Ruff with 6 mins to play. This season should have been about progressing, using that cup win to push on keep the core if the team and improve it using the cup money yet we've kept the same team struggling to field more then 4 subs and languish in mid table, midweek attendance going back down to pre cup win too as the floaters who we need to boost gates arent coming back.(ask yourself why) Going up looks impossible currently, even with our injuries and suspensions we are still well short (as seen yesterday). Sorry to sound negative but this season has been awful overall.

Cheers for all the insight and reviews of the game...absolutely cracking result and hard fought away win👌...Meanwhile yesterday in deepest darkest Larne...we were standing in the coldest, wettest, windiest football ground with zero cover watching our local team lose 2 nil away and the only smiles were us keeping up to date with the Urchins as always! We are due to come over next month when the double 2 day rail strikes are scheduled...should these still happen, we will be plotting all alternatives to make sure we get to the game!

  27. The Ladies won 3-0 away to Wroxham in the 4thQ of the FA cup on sunday in very testing conditions in front of a good sized crowd. They now play Norwich away (one league above) in the First Round proper on the 13 November. They secured £4000 for the club by winning on saturday. £6000 if they win in the next round.

Well what a great night of football we played some good stuff in the first half but found ourselves down from 2 set pieces, second half game seem to be drifting away then the substitutions and 2 late goal que the pandemonium on the east side,on the down side the Enfield fans made it a good atmosphere until they went behind punches were thrown I was hit by a can there were our young fan base just yards away from it all, shame really never associated the Towners with anything like that anyway didn't spoil a brilliant result up the Urchins

  33. @cup of tea I think you make a very good point and Ronnie has always been a committed team player and works hard at whatever the manager asks him to do for the team. He may not have been the big goal scorer or playmaker during his time with us but he is a winner and deservedly so with our FA Trophy success which he played his part in, wish him all the best and once an Urchin always an Urchin

  35. It's £20 membership. That business model ensures that the club will never shink. As does the 99 year lease on our stadium..I would say clubs that have good potential real estate and a single owner/chairman that can sell up at anytime are at far more risk than our business model..But the short term success that the later business model can achieve is harder to do with a supporter run club. Swings and roundabouts. After what happened to Enfield Fc i know which once i would prefer to rely on.

  37. The whole affair reflects poorly on the player (and on Cheshunt). Frempah is (was) an experienced professional and must be familiar with registration formalities. He knew that he had signed registration forms with ETFC only a few days ago. Incredibly naive if he thought he could play a trial/friendly for another club mere days later and NOT cause a stink. I agree with LS. No way Frempah can be allowed back into the ETFC dressing room now. Andy signed him because he thought he would fit well with the team and set a good example. Sadly, the player’s actions speak for themselves. Cheshunt’s conduct is equally unbecoming. Somebody at Cheshunt FC approached Frempah to play. The question is whether that “somebody” knew that Frempah was registered with ETFC. I await with interest the result of the FA’s investigation. But to some extent that investigation is irrelevant. The player’s conduct demonstrates an utter lack of commitment or loyalty and Craig Edwards has already made his feelings on that plain: https://cheshuntfc.com/2022/07/05/news-from-manager-craig-edwards/ I’d be pretty disappointed if I was a Cheshunt fan, to see Frempah in their team going forward. He’s done it to us, who’s to say he won’t do it to them? I quite enjoy Albury Walker’s banter on this forum, it’s exactly what a local club rivalry should be. But this isn’t oneupmanship, this is conduct unbecoming. I hope Cheshunt do the right thing, send Frempah packing and clear the air with our manager and board. Their post about ETFC’s non-participation in this weekend’s Community Cup tournament was pretty ill-considered too.

Hard disagree. The league is open to all the teams to win it. If you’re good enough to go up then finish in the promotion places the same as the last 100 years, not 5th and 20-30 points off the pace and then spunk your way in. The season is 40 games long, we have positions for a reason, that’s the test, not saying the whole season was a pointless prelude for most for essentially a cup competition. It’s a league, reward consistency. At this level it’s ridiculous. If you want to be involved at the business end then you should’ve been good enough all season to be up there. My position is, that if you’re going to promote 2 or 3 sides you promote the best ones over the course of the season.

  43. So, the unbeaten run continues and we move into 4th place. A tougher match than expected, Leatherhead were compact at the back and quick to close down but also didn't really offer much going forwards but still had a couple of decent chances. But Hornchurch kept at it until Tobi broke the deadlock. Hard luck for Remi not getting on the score sheet with another fine run into the box but Higgo on hand to tidy up after the goal line save. That is the third game in a row Sam Higgins has come on in the 74th minute and scored - that's scarily consistent.

    Wow!

Tremendous result for us today. Well done to the Hornchurch staff for getting the game on, only one of two in our division not postponed. Really dominated the game despite the conditions. Some really good goals there, good assists from Tobi today. Last goal was something special from Sam Higgins, hope our cameraman was thawed out enough to catch it! Hat trick for Liam, well taken pen from Tom Wraight. East Thurrock look like a team that’s going to struggle to stay up, a couple of chances in the first half and their guy really should have scored in the second half but scuffed his shot wide but that was really about it. all in all, a very satisfactory result and the gd is really up there with the teams around us after today. Well done to all

  48. Cracking win - really should have been more but getting the three points was the important thing here. You always start to worry it’s going to be one of those days when you miss an early pen. Nicely taken goal by Parcell, looked like it was going to miss and swung in at the last minute. Bit disappointed with the theatrics from one or two of the Bowers players, well done to the ref for booking their no 7 for clear simulation. Held out with 10 men, really pleased with a hard earned win and a decent crowd as well. Well done to all and a happy new year

  49. A touch of deja vu with a completely overwhelming first half performance from Hornchurch and at least half a dozen decent chances (an observation reflected by an incandescent W&F fan at half time) but just the single goal to show for it. The fears came to fruition a quarter of an hour into the second half when George Winn got a red card. With the extra man Wingate & Finchley managed to get out of their own half and cause problems resulting in an equaliser. Yet Hornchurch still had enough quality to create decent chances and yet again Ben Goode had a worldie game keeping them out. But despite this Hornchurch got the ball in the net twice, although one was ruled offside, to get their noses in front again. Moments later Wingate's Tyrique Clarke was also off for an early bath and with equal numbers it wasn't too difficult to see the game out. So, three wins on the spin, 2 games in a row without giving away a penalty (so glad to see that habit broken) and moved up into the top 10. The next four league games all look winnable (touch wood) if we can catch a break with injuries (I think we had more players in the stands than on the pitch) and keep the current form going. Finally, good luck to Jili at Sheffield United, I believe he agreed to put about 35 tickets on the gate for his debut
