  1. It goes without saying that for any successful team there needs to be a core of stand-out quality players. These players are naturally celebrated and cherished by supporters and a privileged few become club legends. Any successful team also needs to have squad players who can play wherever required and can always be relied upon to put in a decent performance. There are no prizes for guessing which of those two categories Ronnie belongs to, but in my view his contribution to our success in the last two seasons deserves its own recognition. I am sorry that he has left and I hope he finds what he is looking for at his next club.

    Not to be

Obviously gutted but there’s a number of factors here. Firstly, that physical battering from Enfield a few days ago, culminating in losing our player of the season in the final, that took a toll. Secondly , Cheshunt are the in form team in the league, some good defending from them today (one hell of a last ditch block from a defender showed the spirit of the team). Thirdly, that was a special second goal from them, worthy of a win. And we didn’t get the rub of the green which you need in games like this - still not sure why that goal was disallowed at the end. After an injury hit first half of the season, to get this close is a testament to the players and management at Hornchurch and we just need move on from this season and get ready to go again. Might be a bit more open next season, the best team in the league for the last two seasons , Worthing are not there next time so that makes it more interesting. Yet again more praise for Dave Holland, our amazing kit man and one of the nicest guys you’re ever likely to meet, he’s going to be missed. Well done to Cheshunt and we move on

  3. A massive big thank you to everyone last night for your hospitality, company and assistance with getting to our first away game! The game itself was really enjoyable and the Concord fans were welcoming...even when we were locked in with them behind the shootout net...a terrible way to lose or win any game with a peno lottery. But Onwards and upwards in the League we go and we'll be back over soon👌 BTW...Barking as an overnight base ended up surprisingly alright...But we will stick to what we know going forward!

  7. Time to name and shame and make an example of the idiots. No point in the club trying to improve both on and off the field when some believe they can do what they want at the game and think it’s acceptable. Just think what possible future sponsors would think of this behaviour?

  8. As Luke says, every single game is commented on and for the most part the comments are positive. Just noting that Pony Tailed Urchin had already started a positive thread to this game prior to this one. I couldn't comment on the game as I had work commitments that prevented me from attending (think I've missed only this and Romford away but not 100% positive about that) The second anyone dares to make a suggestion that perhaps is considered derogatory then the criticism comes out. Are we supposed to say that we played well when we lose to Bishops Stortford 4-1? Yes I'm sure there could be reasons behind that (illness, injuries etc.) and I think being a manager must be an incredibly difficult job that I certainly couldn't do but we're not allowed to say we didn't play well? We all want Hornchurch to succeed , we've got a great manager and a great support team behind him and a good core of players at the club and I think we can get promoted this year. Sometimes you need squad additions (if that's affordable) if it's not quite working out though.

  9. Massive win for us , we are really down to the bare bones in terms of players with both Sam and Liam out , with Charlie and Toby leading the line. The whole team worked so hard today against a determined Wingate side. Tight first half, creating chances second half and they eventually paid off. Decent support from us today. We’ve threatened to go top on a couple of occasions recently but today it’s happened (yes it all depends who’s top at the end of the season but this does signal that we’re in the race) Well done guys COYU

  10. Wasn’t expecting that at half time! Wasn’t entirely happy with the antics of Potters Bar in the first half , they seemed to calm down with that second half thankfully. Second half much better. Ade looks like he’s going to be a handful for defences , already signs that the rest of the team are adjusting to him. New guy at centre half did a solid job too. Pleased for Tom getting two goals as well, that’s encouraging. Sam also did well, chipping in with a goal and an amazing cross field pass as well (didn’t lead to a goal but amazing skills anyway), Ellis also had a solid game. Not sure it was a 5-0 game but who cares! Everyone else put a shift in, really pleased with the effort. Enfield slipped up which moves us back to 3rd. Well done all and hoping we actually get to play Tuesday this time! COYU

  12. Well what a game that was last night. Mark said in his interview we needed a reaction from the players and right from the kick off we could see that they had got the message as the whole team put in an excellent performance over 90 minutes of entertaining football. I was impressed with the formation and the link up play seemed to work right across the pitch. seeing Ellis run and boss the wing was a pleasing site as he looked back to his best and Remi linking up with Micky on the other side was causing so many problems. Jordan Clark up front was causing so many issues with the defence in the second half that you could see we could score and once the lads got the score back to 1-1 the confidence and play just went through the roof. great to see Destiny come on for a debut goal and he looked sharp in his few minutes. Well done lads and I hope this provides the momentum we need to kick onto the end of the season. Up The Urchins!

  13. What a superb result, coming away to Hastings and despite some excellent play by the home team when Hornchurch were not at their best we came out deserved winners with 3 clinical goals at key times in the match. Pre match drills on a difficult pitch all came together with the first goal neatly slipped under keeper by Tom Wraight before a sublime curled 2and by nas a yard from the touchline having got round the keeper. Hayles added the icing on the cake with a superb header after a long spell of Hastings pressure. Results have also gone our way today so we have a 5 point lead over Stortford and games in hand over Cray Keep working hard lads Up The Urchins.

  16. Well let's be honest for a local Derby the first 89 minutes were dire and wasn't helped by their keeper continually wasting time then wallop Liam in the last minute of normal time then a big melee Bowers sending off then deliberate handball in the 100th minute in the Bowers penalty area sending off goal number 2 by Higgo, pandemonium in the Urchin end.Have not seen us outnumber the home fans since the Essex senior league days,oh yeah and we are top of the league,up the Urchins

  17. Fantastic second half blew the hosts away Tricky first half but some how came in at the interval one up.Second half Ola gave us a different dimension and ran riot should have been 3 nil before it was 2 nil such was our superiority of our performance.Just like to add good support in numbers following the team and secondly the Lodge is some ground must be National standard so to win there makes it all the sweeter up the Urchins

    Margate 1 Hx 3

First off just a big shout out to my mom Joe Christou , stepping in to be goalkeeper he did a remarkable job. Secondly well done to the Margate fans , impeccably behaved and there was clearly no sign of issues whatsoever , Hornchurch fans as always were well behaved. Good game and competitive Sam, Joe, Liam ,Ola played well in fact everyone played well. To put in a performance like that with the players we have out was amazing. Margate also played well, deserved their goal and made it a competitive game. Good goals all around pleased for Jack actually well done to Hornchurch COYU

    No shame lads

Full marks to the Oxford number 15 - when a ballboy fell over quite heavily he ran over to him, helped him up, and checked that he was alright. A very nice gesture that went largely unnoticed.

  20. Now that any tiny particles of dust of disappointment have settled... Can I just say a massive well done and thanks to everyone at the Club, our manager, the players, background staff, volunteers, bar staff and especially the fans who make us feel so very welcome on every visit. Belfast Urchins would love to sponsor Tom Wraight again...for a full season and can send payment through whenever this opens again next season? Up the chins and see you all soon! ❤⚽️❤ Thanks - I cannot start the list yet (until we know who is in the quad next season), but I always give the previous sponsor first choice. So your name is there against Tom Wraight. Tony

    Hard watch

We all know the hard work and effort you guys put into the pitch without any reward asked for and I’ve seen far worse this season, we know where the problem is with the pitch which is beyond your control. Appreciate everything you do

  24. As the great poet W H Auden might have said Win at home, draw away, if you want to win the league that's the way. Of course it wasn't the best we've seen but I can't agree with the comments about lack of effort. You don't equalise in 90+ if you're not trying but poor quality today. Speaking with Haringey Borough fans after the game a draw was more than they were expecting, losing by just 1 goal would have been a result for them. There are 21 teams in this league who would give an arm and a leg to get a draw away and still be 3 points clear with a game in hand. And then think about goal difference, we're at+47 and the next closest team is+28. We can lose every remaining game 0-2 and still have the best goal difference. From a different perspective Wingate & Finchley had a lower attendance today than Tuesday night. Stay strong, stay proud and keep believing.

    Away fans appreciation

Well played one and all been saying it for years our away support is amazing and growing. Whenever the game is played we always let the opposition know the Chins are in town i honestly believe the percentage of our home attendance which we take away every game must be the best in non league or not far off. keep up the great work miss our Saturdays with you all ❤️🤍

  29. Not quite sure where to begin, right from the get go we never looked interested - we were hassled and hurried losing the the ball (when we had it) on many occasions. The ref was awful however she didn't lose us the game. We lacked creativity and desire which got us to the top of the table however once again we we play important games against teams around us and we crumble (Canvey home and away, Aveley home and away, BS away...there's more I'm sure) I believe given our league position we should be dictating play with the away team defending for their lives and us controlling the game however over the past few months it been obvious that we are in a false position. From the top of my head the last games where I've seen us control the game and come out worthy winners were Ricay away and Potters Bar away most of the games between then and now could have gone either way if the other teams took their chances. We look like a team void of any ideas, looking to go long at every given time....yes, I understand the pitch is heavy but the opposition seem to handle it pretty well of late, we fail to win any second balls and look like a team just waiting to go behind before we get a reaction...let's hopefully a positive reaction next week.....

Just not our day. Definitely agree that skipper Lewwis was missed. Back at it on Tuesday, shoulders back...now smash it! Btw was great as always to catch up with so many of you. We literally were over just for the game and back home Sunday afternoon. We are just glad we got to see a game for a change! 🤣🤣 Cheers! Belfast Urchins ⚽️❤⚽️

  39. Another game, another opposition team time wasting in the first half holding out for a draw. Last year saw a long unbeaten run start around about this time with game after game with unchanged winning side, but currently each game seems to bring a new injury. So it is credit to the depth of squad that players just step up and do a supreme job despite often being out of their natural position. Good to see Jordan and Ellis back and also Mark Onyemah training during the warm-up.

  40. Cheers for all the insight and reviews of the game...absolutely cracking result and hard fought away win👌...Meanwhile yesterday in deepest darkest Larne...we were standing in the coldest, wettest, windiest football ground with zero cover watching our local team lose 2 nil away and the only smiles were us keeping up to date with the Urchins as always! We are due to come over next month when the double 2 day rail strikes are scheduled...should these still happen, we will be plotting all alternatives to make sure we get to the game!

  42. The Ladies won 3-0 away to Wroxham in the 4thQ of the FA cup on sunday in very testing conditions in front of a good sized crowd. They now play Norwich away (one league above) in the First Round proper on the 13 November. They secured £4000 for the club by winning on saturday. £6000 if they win in the next round.

  46. It's £20 membership. That business model ensures that the club will never shink. As does the 99 year lease on our stadium..I would say clubs that have good potential real estate and a single owner/chairman that can sell up at anytime are at far more risk than our business model..But the short term success that the later business model can achieve is harder to do with a supporter run club. Swings and roundabouts. After what happened to Enfield Fc i know which once i would prefer to rely on.

  48. So, the unbeaten run continues and we move into 4th place. A tougher match than expected, Leatherhead were compact at the back and quick to close down but also didn't really offer much going forwards but still had a couple of decent chances. But Hornchurch kept at it until Tobi broke the deadlock. Hard luck for Remi not getting on the score sheet with another fine run into the box but Higgo on hand to tidy up after the goal line save. That is the third game in a row Sam Higgins has come on in the 74th minute and scored - that's scarily consistent.
