  1. Well what a great night of football we played some good stuff in the first half but found ourselves down from 2 set pieces, second half game seem to be drifting away then the substitutions and 2 late goal que the pandemonium on the east side,on the down side the Enfield fans made it a good atmosphere until they went behind punches were thrown I was hit by a can there were our young fan base just yards away from it all, shame really never associated the Towners with anything like that anyway didn't spoil a brilliant result up the Urchins

  2. Well done you urchins .Keep it up . Sad you had some agro last night. Not sure what caused it as townies aren't usually a trouble type club. We don't like them and they don't us but never had agro problems with them. Hope you make it to the NLS this time.

    Kels Wake

Kels family would like to invite family and friends to the football club on Sunday 21st August from 12 o’clock. The bar will be open where we can all share memories of Kel and have a pint of Stella for him. There will hopefully be a scattering of some ashes on the centre circle too. Hopefully see a few faces on Sunday. Thank You

  6. It goes without saying that for any successful team there needs to be a core of stand-out quality players. These players are naturally celebrated and cherished by supporters and a privileged few become club legends. Any successful team also needs to have squad players who can play wherever required and can always be relied upon to put in a decent performance. There are no prizes for guessing which of those two categories Ronnie belongs to, but in my view his contribution to our success in the last two seasons deserves its own recognition. I am sorry that he has left and I hope he finds what he is looking for at his next club.

  7. @cup of tea I think you make a very good point and Ronnie has always been a committed team player and works hard at whatever the manager asks him to do for the team. He may not have been the big goal scorer or playmaker during his time with us but he is a winner and deservedly so with our FA Trophy success which he played his part in, wish him all the best and once an Urchin always an Urchin

  8. It was an entertaining game and it's been a tricky start to the season so far, but I agree with the comments above that there appear to be obvious areas to address. Losing Thomas early on didn't help but gave a LDV a chance to come on and do his magic. Holding the ball in advance positions seemed to be a problem near the end of the game and maybe swapping Cass, who had an excellent 60 minutes, with Cunnington might have addressed this, i.e. winning headers and holding the ball up. Spencer for Taffe near the end was a positive move but Cass looked like he'd run himself into the ground. Overall I thought it was a good display and good performances all round for old and new players was good to see.

  9. Thanks Barney for your observations however I too did get to the game. I also appreciate Steph's appraisal. As usual it was another of his balanced reports from what he saw. However, Barney's first para sums up exactly what I am thinking. As I said in my post it is not the first time concerns have been raised on this point. I would like to think that at last a training programme could be instigated to a address this problem by the coaching staff.

    Hornchurch v Enfield Town

My view of the game as someone who was there. We were under the cosh for long periods. We started brightly and deserved our lead which came off the bar onto the back of the keepers head and into the net. Our second goal was a penalty. Hornchurch were a tough side and had good interplay. Defended as a group and attacked as a group and I would have expected them to tire especially as they used their three substitutes relatively early. McDonald had a good game and kept the score down. There were periods in the second half when Hornchurch looked tired and their forwards seemed to lose their way as the game wore on. However, when they scored their second they seemed inspired and went all out for the winner whilst we were going through the motions. Our defenders cant seem to get the ball away when under pressure. That may be a fault of the defenders or, possibly, the midfield who dont seem able to play it out from the defenders. Also I noted that too many time balls to wide men often require the winger to stop in his tracks or retreat to pick the ball up. There were few forward passes to the wings which landed in front of the player. Our wide men are often left isolated without anybody available behind to link up with them. It was a good exciting game and a pleasure to watch and, in the end, I felt that we were beaten by the better team on the night. On this display both teams will be jockeying for play off places.

  14. This will be a tough game and Enfield will be up for it after the disappointment of last season and they will bring their (ahem) unique style of play to the Bridge. I fancy us to put a win in though. Going 2-1 Hornchurch crowd 375

  17. Thank you for your honest reply. Sincerely, how many tier 10 teams have had this level of investment and corporate sponsorship? Not being facetious, genuinely have no clue. I imagine most that had it, if any, found some level of success. While I can't speak for Pete with any authority, I imagine him being a hometown kid means he has more skin in the game than someone more likely to lose interest after a couple of bad campaigns. I hope the team finds success and consistency if/when they are promoted As for crypto being a scam--I'd agree on all fronts but Bitcoin. They are not the same. The space is absolutely littered with grifters but Bitcoin as network is pure and I don't know anyone who has really spent considerable time learning about it that doesn't keep some level of investment in it. What are you grounds for Pete being skint before the season ends? He runs a very successful, essentially cost free business in his podcast. Hard to go broke under those circumstances. As for the club, while it's built to promote Bedford and Bitcoin, he's stated many times the roles are distinct. He needs the club to operate in the black on its own. He only needs Bitcoin to rocket in price if he were to truly make a run at the upper echelons of the english ladder. And while I completely agree his aim for a 50 million treasury in Bitcoin is outlandish (it's currently like 30k lol), I see no reason why he won't continue to have massive support throughout the Bitcoin community. If you honestly think the entire space is going belly up in a year, I'd happily take that bet. But I'll be here to eat crow if I'm off base too. Either way, he's got an otherwise completely disinterested party watching games and bantering online with strangers. Hoping for three more points tomorrow AM!

  18. Financially, I wish. Family wise, not so much lol. I dunno, seems like fans of other small market teams are just mad that they are going to get left behind.

  19. Trying desperately not to say utility player! Ronnie has been a massive asset to this club and always put the effort in which fans always appreciates - Good luck to him in whatever he does next/wherever he goes.
