I agree Barney our discourse has run it's course, but I do appreciate the manner in which it has been conducted.
May I wish you and all other supporters a very Happy Christmas.

I do think you have missed OT point,MTH.  I have interpreted that it is his way of expressing his amazement in the lack of business sense being shown. Otherwise your "good" players on higher wages will come in one door and out the other as they please. If you are happy with that then as a member I am not.
There seems to be a miss conception in the use of contracts. Although not personally involved when my firm were processing clubs going into administration, I was shown some players contracts, invariable they had a get out clause in favour of the player. The safeguard for the Club (the business) was that they retained the right to seek a fee for his transfer so long as it they paid him and the player agreed to the transfer. Far better than most normal employment contracts.

NB .. I raised these point about 4 years ago, when the subject was last raised, so please don't bring up the clubs financial status again. The principle applies to all businesses huge or small. Also please no more advice to get more involved. My interest in the Club end purely as a supporter and a member and as such the ability to comment on this forum.

BG love it!!!!. Keep it up, if you pardon the phrase. But do you not think you have used to many words outside Audrey's capacity. Such words as "predilections" are almost classic and far to good for him.  Best if you try sticking to monosyllables for him. Will save you a lot of  time explaining to him what the big words mean.

A-W I have no intention of entering into a debate of the merits of your club and mine.
But to just to point out that I am a member of ETFC and as such a part owner of ETFC along with many other supporters. Like any other shareholder we reserve the right to discuss the pros and cons about how our club/company is run. Whether negative or not. But we do so with in the limits of joint membership and respect.
The reason why you haven't got a forum such as ours is because your club is run in an autocratic way. I have no argument with that since Enfield FC was run for years in the same way. But sole owners are not usually very tolerant in receiving negative views. Which I believe may be the underlying reason for your critiques and for my Statement.
I do not have any authority over who uses this forum. However, I will not be looking for any reply flippant or otherwise.  Just enjoy your football and I wish Cheshunt FC every success.

I can understand that Andy. It will fetch more money than the football. They are already thinking of offering AL manager for life so long as Theo does his strip before each home game.

I accept what you say Djw.  Having been a supporter, excluding my own playing career and Nat Service, for 70 years  I feel a little affronted at times when my posts are deemed by some as disloyal.  I certainly don't attend games with the object to find fault.
I also agree that it demeans the forum to entered into personal bickering.
I also think like you that we have probably the most talented squad since the ETFC was founded (No offence to players of the past.) and I too enjoy watching them. But rightly or wrongly I still believe they could be even better if encouraged to play to their full potential.
But as I said a few days ago if we get into the play offs and hopefully beyond then I will be the first to admit I got it wrong and will be happy to do so.
Lets all hope we can pull it off tomorrow I am sure we have the capability do do so.

Thanks BJ for your observations and to MB for drawing attention to TA's Video.
Regarding the latter it proves that with good editing the camera can lie. It was if the Town only played for 4/5 minutes whilst Tonbridge run riot. Never mind we know the truth!!!!!!

Just got back from Hols. After seeing our FA Cup result I was a bit down, and like me, for the first 81 minutes today, it must also have been a real downer for those who travelled to Sussex. But what an impact Billy Bricknell made!!!! Can't wait to see him fully match fit. He certainly knows how to make an entrance.

Also it seems results went for us to day and even if it is early in the season I am pleased to see that at present we are second in the league.

If this continues I'm going to have little to say this year, which will be a nice change.

    Frustration eh

Well after two pleasing results that was hard to take.

Think throughout the game we must have had the large portion of possession and overall were the better team man for man.

However, whereas we saw out the game on Tuesday we couldn't today.   I heard the groundsman in the last 20 minutes or so make a good point....why do we continue to lump the ball up front.   Liam will run his socks off for us however it's not his game to win aerial duels and knock the ball on to other players.    He's best coming short, chasing down and generally linking up with players.   We have 2 full backs are quite able going forwards.    Midfielders across the board who can play well and get the ball down on the floor and play attractive football.   On that basis we've thrown 2 points away today and it really should have been 3 points won.

We seem to get alot of possession...Johnson and Youngs worked extremely hard again however we seemed to lose our way towards the end.     I think Joe had what was 2 or 3 real saves for the whole 92 minutes and yet we find ourselves dropping first points of the season.

Would be interesting to think how we could have changed things or seen the game out differently....as hopefully those won't be valuable points dropped.      Hornchurch were hardworking but had little quality.    Disappointing to say the least.

Hopefully the boys will learn from it though...would be nice if the team could see these games out and not end up settling back.   I thought we had enough experience throughout the team but guess there's no real "easy" games.

Either way, picked up a nice print of the stadium from the club shop so that will be getting framed soon.

My first game of the season and for 80 minutes we played Hornchurch of the park. Much to the management's credit, yes I do say that, we have some very gifted players for us to compete well at this level.

It is obvious that the coaching level his much higher than last year. So far as Hope is concerned he was my man of the match for his tireless running and his constant dragging their defence from side to side. Where it fell down was that the expected runners for the openings created were invariably too deep behind him to take advantage. This can be adjusted in training to ensure that at least one player is always there to support him, not necessary the same one.

That said we still made sufficient  chances to have been out of sight by halftime.

Unfortunately however, as AL said himself earlier this week, the defence started to tire in the last 6/7 minutes and were in need of extra support by way of an extra defensive substitution.
Hence the last minute of added time equaliser.

However, from what I saw I think we can all look forward to an entertaining season.

I am off for the next 4  weeks and on my return hope to see us at least still in the top 5/6.

Yes and that was when only 3 sides of the ground was being used as the main stand was being rebuilt. I believe that it was reported to be the largest crowd of the season up to that date.

Let's hope those times can be repeated and that other supporters can enjoy the feelings we had over so many years.

Sorry to read VM you are thinking of dropping out. I know we have crossed views in the past but I still feel
everyone who commits their thoughts to this forum have one thing in common and that is all of us want to see the club continue to flourish and become successful. How to achieve this may not always be seen by some in the same prospective. Unfortunately some of us, of a certain age, require it to be sooner than later. That is the way of life.

I think that LS's opening sentence is akin to how I approach things.
Already from what I have read over the past few weeks has made me more optimistic for the future.

I hope, therefore, that you will continue submitting your views as they are important to the general debate.

That's right, leather boots and leather nailed in studs. In the days when men were men.
A good meat pudding before you played. A thick muddy pitch, a heavy sodden leather ball with laces and a bucket of cold water to wash in after. We thought nothing
    was better.

I did not go last night as I could not build up the enthusiasm after Saturday. I think we all knew that we were not going to win. We are not good enough for promotion and, even now, does Brad know his best team?

There was very little semi-professional football in the 5O's when I played. We
were Amateurs, or supposed to be. But the equipment was different and some pitches hardly had a blade of grass on them, but the game was the same, except for
substitutes. What is different is the attitude of the managers and coaches.

As I said earlier, they have made a simple game into a difficult one. So I will
repeat what I have already said, a defender's prime job is to be able to defend
and a forwards must be able to attack. In between you have the half backs
( mid-fielders), the power house of any team and as such must be able to do both.

Until a team adheres to these basic disciplines all the new fangled talk about
playing in different formations etc. must be secondary.

WE all agree that we lost to a poor team on Saturday but again I must say that
they were still more disciplined than us. So when I say play ugly, I don't mean
kick the hell out of the other team, but to know when to attack and when to
    defend.

Lets hope that Brad has had a sharp talk with one or two who are intent on going
Gung-ho so that they give others a chance to show their abilities and come home
    with a win.

Absolutely right, OT, what ever the outcome of the next few weeks I hope that
efforts to put in place a nucleus of a team for next season are already on going.

Since being in this league we have never started well and have to play catch up.
Even an extra win and a draw in the first month of this season would have given us a different perspective on our current position.

Seem to have lost my reply to Lovely Stuff, so to précis what I said.

To confuse players assessments by Games won and Lost is not how you assess a players achievement. Not unless he is the only team member playing.

The way that you assess a player is made basically the same world wide and to the
same formula. This charts a players contribution over all the games in which he
appears, even if he is a sub on/off and allocates points to certain categories.
ie Goals Scored , tackles made, assists and others. Number of points achieved is
divided by games played and heh presto an average mark is achieved. This system is
used even by Barcelona, starting with their nine years olds. How do I know, well you
    will have to trust me!!!

The system is also used by the Clubs statistician and is shown quite clearly on the
club website under the various headings in the 1st Team folder. This shows the following.....SM Ave pts 0.4, the others you mentioned GL .7, JS 1.5, TC 1.0, DW 2.3,
SB 3.0. ( o.4 being well below the others except D Cruz!!!)

Well that's enough for one week end. Lets hope all this pontificating proves us all wrong and we go into a stream of wins using the same squad. But it's been good
airing my nr.80 year old grey matter and look forward to reading all your comments
in the future and thanks for taking me on board.
