  1. Chipstead v Redhill is on Tuesday 22nd, not 23rd as stated on FA Fulltime.
  2. Les Smith, a Redhill FC Legend by David Barber Since the last home match against Camberley the Club has been sad to hear of the passing of Les Smith, our Vice-President and Life Member. In former times Les was Club President and, in some of our glory days in the 1960s, Club Secretary. Appointed Secretary in 1963 he arranged for then Manager Eric Nicholls to be given a three-year contract to give the Club some stability and three years later the Reds were good enough to win the Surrey Senior Cup, defeating Isthmians Sutton United 4-3 in the Final at Tooting. For Les personally he was now on a journey that would lead to him becoming one of the top football administrators in the history of the county. Subsequently he represented Surrey on The Football Association Council, sitting on important Committees at Lancaster Gate and Soho Square, before becoming a Vice-President and then a Life-President of The FA. But he would still be standing near the touchline with his friends at every Redhill game, his last an Isthmian League fixture against Carshalton at the Brow before he left for Scotland to be near his son Nigel when he was in his 80s. Nigel was an alpine skier who represented Great Britain. A great one-club man, we will all miss Les.
  3. Have you tried complaining to the Combined counties volunteers ?
  4. If you ever feel some chest pains, get advice, I put mine down to a pulled muscle, don't leave it, get a check-up....I just carried on, going to work like you do, then last Friday night I had trip to Tunbridge Wells Hospital A&E, then Re-sus and then on to the Coronary care unit. spent some hours being treated but it was decided I needed a fast trip to St Thomas' Hospital in Westminster coronary care department where they are geared up for every eventuality. So Sunday l was having some amazing keyhole surgery, Tuesday (17th) evening I'm being taxied home completed with carrier bag of meds. An amazing amount for care and treatment from the staff who were so funny and great at removing the stress of a heat attack. Cant wait to get back out on Groundsman duties.
  5. Due to the overnight and todays rain tonights game Redhill v AFC Croydon Athletic has been postponed.
  6. A big pat on the back to all the people who get the games on in the CCL, those who do so much work to make sure their club has a pitch ready to play on, the canteen staff, people who make sure there is a match programme, the turnstyle staff, folk that will do anything to help the club they follow to be ready on match day, I hope you all have a fantastic year.
  7. Please do not travel this evening as match has been postponed due to the ongoing fuel issues.
  8. Well, at last! The hard work is paying off. many thanks to David Barber for the match report. Lobsters win shoot-out!
  9. 7-30pm at Ascot united FC. Redhill U23 v Merstham U23 Combined Counties Development Division Challenge Cup Final. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 3pm at Cobham FC. Redhill v Ascot United Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup. Good luck Lobsters!
  10. Redhill v Abbey Rangers 3pm. Combined Counties Premier Challenge Cup Semi-final. U18's and NHS staff free entry with ID. The usual menu available at the Lobster pot canteen.
  11. If we were able to resume playing in March I think we could complete, but things will get difficult again if a team returns a positive test. As a groundsman I would not be to upset to see another Null & Void so I could start the pitch renovations in March and continue the improvements to the grass we made last year but as a fan it would be a huge disappointment.
  12. Great team effort to get the game on, considering I only found out the late venue swap on the Saturday night, thinking that we would have another week for the pitch repairs to bed-in we had over long grass and no pitch markings at all, so the lads spent Monday strimming and putting some great patterns on the pitch with the mower, then yesterday it was out with the tape measure and string lines for some crisp straight markings to make it looking the best December Kiln Brow pitch I can remember. From 2-30pm the fog started to arrive by 5pm I was getting a little worried(and cold) but the ref made a great call and gave it a go and as the game progressed the fog started lifting. Many thanks also to those who provided stuff for the programme so I could do a print run in record time, also the canteen team who made sure we had a full hot food menu to warm us up, great effort. Lobsters 4 Knaphill 1
  13. To confirm the game is at Kiln Brow tomorrow as its not on league fixture list or FA full time, given the short notice, the pitch will be ready, complete full 32 page match day programme with just two days notice and bit of luck hot food at the canteen. Plus we have a good stock of new club badges. Proper effort all round lads.
  14. Leatherhead 2 Redhill 3 Great win for the Lobsters!
  15. https://www.redhillfc.com/news/club-statement--redhill-fc-2581180.html Good luck to the new first team manager.
  16. Just take it easy, glad our friends next door took care of you and when you are up and about again and fancy a trip to Kiln Brow I will personally make sure of a ticket, programme and a canteen tab is available for you.
  17. I try and get to as many U18's games as I can, interesting to see progress being made and who is likely to be on the road to our first team. Last night our U18's played Met Police in a friendly (and yes they do seem to be getting younger!). The Met started stronger but the young Lobsters getting more confident under the refurbished floodlights almost snatched a win late on but for the offside flag. Final score 1-1. On duty at Kiln Brow for the visit of Raynes Park Vale this Saturday, got a box of new badges to sell. Hope everyone is keeping well.
  18. Think you may be right. All we can do is do our best and follow guidelines. looking on the bright side I got out of printing the FA Cup programmes.....First team may be out of action but the pitch still needs mowing every other day, top dressing, weeding, fertilizing and repairs, that's before our other projects get attended to. Think our first game back is away to Abbey Rangers but before that I will try and take in a few games around the league in search of a good burger.
  19. Regrettably, we must forfeit the FA Cup Extra-preliminary round tie against Egham Town on Tuesday evening. We wish Egham Town the very best in the Preliminary Round on Sat 12th and will be following their progress in the competition. We remain positive and optimistic about the prospects of our full squad and management team returning to competitive football and thank everyone for their kind support at this time.
  20. https://www.redhillfc.com/news/lobsters-launch-brand-new-u23-development-team-2548069.html Some good news from Kiln Brow for the future.
  21. Just giving - SASH/NHS Here is our link to the Just giving page. All clubs are facing a challenging time, not just financially but also keeping facilities up to standard for when non league football returns, but before we ask for help for ourselves its important to help those on the frontline and that's what the SASH/NHS charity does and has been doing over the years, its been our club charity for sometime now and is very close to our hearts, we need to ask for help for them, not for us. Even if its just a quid it will help make a difference.
