Good for them. Playing football in lockdown sends completely the wrong message nationally, exposes players, officials, backroom staff and emergency services (not to mention their families) to Covid, unnecessarily so, and provides the perfect excuse for deniers not to wear masks/comply with government guidance. I appreciate they are not refusing to play for altruistic but for more practical financial reasons, but even so, it's about time so called elite clubs called a halt to this lunacy.

The Non League Football Show

How unlike a ref to be full of their own importance! Actually that's stereotypical, seen some good and some bad at this level, only a couple I would classify as Manwairing-esque. FWIW PetetheGreek is very good on the line, got a sense of humour too (essential if the match involves Jets and the industrial language of Mr Atkins -

The first was the Rec's highest gate, 19,138, and was before I was born. The second I had the programme for, but was a baby then. Also played Man Utd around this time in the League Cup with the holy trinity on display, losing 1-3. Have never played any of the big London clubs competitively. Rhodes you are always making sly digs at people, eg that very untoward remark to Pete the Greek on Christmas Eve, you know and I know you were implying I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, and that's a red rag to this particular bull which is why I called you out on it. Here endeth the lesson. -

Yes, a 'leafy Surrey man', from a council house, surrounded by rich kids so you really knew you were poor. Hope that addresses your patronising preconceptions. I moved away to go to university and never went back, and have lived in 10 counties but mainly Herts in the last 20 years. I currently live in Soxhey and have followed Jets since the great escape season where the drop was avoided at Stotfold's expense, having previously followed St Albans City for 5 years but became disillusioned by many things such as money grabbing owners, obvious match fixing I witnessed (3 players sacked but swept u -

Is the 2020/21 SSML season over?

With the imperious Jets storming towards the summit, I hope not -
1 all at the interval in the game of the day, Jets picking up where they left off with Cameron netting inside 3, Putman's also hit the post and it's all the visitors. Sloppy goal conceded though on 9, Giordamaina with a sloppy pass on the edge of the BU box, from which they broke quickly only to seemingly give up possession centre field but some more sloppy play at the back saw the hosts gifted an opportunity, which was despatched. Jets camped in the opposition half but with only 1 goal to show for it, I expect Mr Atkins will be peeling the dressing room walls as I type. Edit whatever he

December Midweek Fixtures

Further to my communications with the Jets and Biggleswade Utd, the hosts will be streaming Saturday's game, and all involved have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Two fantastic clubs, I'm sure they will put on a spectacle so if you can't physically get to a game for whatever reason then let this one come to you https://m.twitch.tv/biggleswadeutd/profile -

I've contacted Biggleswade's Club Secretary for clarification on this, as obviously I'd love to go but equally I don't want to have a wasted journey, let's see what they say. -

So much for petering out, final score 10-0, Stead x2, Putnam x2, Giordama x2, Bircham x2, Cameron and Speer. Colney ended with 9, for a bit of afters near the end but was already double figures by then. Great credit to LC, they kept going and had a lot of shots second half, but it was just wave after wave at the other end and could have been anything. Putnam in particular unlucky not to have the match ball as the makeshift keeper pulled off 2 sensational saves to deny him. Pick of the goals a worldie from young Sean which raised the roof. 16 goals in 4 days at the Jets will have to sustain me -

Shooting gallery here tonight, 4-0 and could've been 12, Colney's keeper sent off midway through. Stead x2, Putnam and Cameron on target. Feel for LC but think this might peter out. -

The Met Office should get down there to look into this microclimate. They should be expelled from the SSML if they keep cheating, because that's what this is. 😡 -
A real winter warmer of a match, in spite of a card happy, fussy ref. No team sheets available but Ashley Harrack who greatly impressed on his last game at the Boundary didn't feature, nor did 4 or 5 Jets regulars. NGU got an early goal to which Puts and Sweeney replied on 31 and 34 and the former nearly made it 3-1 but for a goaline clearance. The pick of the goals came from the visitors before the break, a sweetly struck volley from a long cross field pass. Jets went ahead midway through the second half, Stead with a surging run and finish, but Greenford were awarded a soft pen wit

Could well be, the return fixture got quite naughty and Colney will be out for revenge on all fronts. Was a decent game in front of the Prem's lowest crowd this term (of games to allow admission), LC played well in the main belying their lowly league position, I've certainly seen worse. My prediction is it won't finish 11 apiece. -

I saw earlier on the league fixtures site that the Jets visit to Baldock scheduled for 5th has been mysteriously moved to 23rd, which ordinarily would have been very annoying but for the fact I would've had to miss it anyway, got a good samaritan act to do. Anyone know why it's been moved though? Neither are in the Vase, and both not now playing when everyone else will be. Jets haven't played since the mauling of Harefield, before Halloween, so will be even more rusty with this postponement. Edit just looked again, now all league games due for 5th have been shelved with just the Vase on 5

Edgware Town
View from the Boundary replied to Rhodes's topic in Spartan South Midlands League Forum
I saw him play in a preseason at Preston Park, was like a beached whale with the turning circle of the Ark Royal. And he still scored twice as the Wood gave Harefield a thrashing. Northwood wouldn't look out of place in the SSML (and indeed would've been in it this year but for the cancellation of last season). Which made their sound beating of the Hares full first team show how bad the home side were, and why I was (and remain) so amazed they can be so high in the table. They really are a poor, one dimensional outfit. -

I thought they planned to leave the league next year with Wembley anyway?
