decent young working couples cant afford to start families, professional benefit claimants whose parents and grandparents never worked use the system having children to get a bigger house, apparentely when i stand up for working people that makes me a tory?? then again it probably does as labour and the unions have never shown much interest in defending the decent working man, when the scum breed who do you think suffer? working people who have the misfortune to live in the same communities as them.

Hookey " Problem is Ian, she denied so many people the chance to work harder by destroying the industries in which they worked in."

Hookey the Unions killed industries not the Conservatives.

Unions have always used bullyboy tactics to get their own way,not just on a personal leve but against society as a whole.thats when they arent trying to hold the country to ransom-firefighters striking on Novermber 5th,tube workers striking on boxing day-they really are the lowest of the low.

oh please comrade, leave it out with this 'brotherhood of man' sh1t, the average trade unionist is the most money grabbing, selfish person you could ever meet, does a striking teacher ever give a damm about the parent on the minimum wage who loses a days money because of their actions, most trade unionists would think Karl Marx is Stoke City's latest eastern european signing.

we lose context and perspective unless we remember the country pre Thatcher, i can remember the power cuts, can remember the bullying tactics of the Trade Unions, god knows what Britian Tempestward remembers because in the one i recall the unions were the most racist and homophobic people to be found,he must of forgotten them striking in favour of Enoch Powell.

I feel sorry for her family and friends - it's always painful to lose a loved one and I do respect the fact that the unions had got out of control. Other than that though, the short term policies like selling council houses and encouraging high street banks to get involved with the financial markets made short term gains but we are feeling (literially) the cost of that now.

God Bless Maggie Thatcher, one of the few politicans to believe in giving working people the chance to better themselves which of course is why the Labour Party and the scumbag unions hated her so much RIP Maggie.

i think i'm probably in a better position than most posters here to give a informed opinion on this-i live in a three storey block of flats in Basildon half owner occupied, half council,of course 90 per cent of those in the council flats are unemployed, 87% of council tenants nationwide are unemployed. now im not going to post urban myths, folklore but what i actually see and know:

if a takeaway is delivered to the block 99% of the time its for a benefit claimant,
one chap below me whos 42 and NEVER had a job has a 60 inch plasma tv
every year the council either fit in new windows, central heating et cetera for their tenants
most of the council tenants are never seen without a beer/joint in their hand

i could go on, what people dont know is the amount of claimants who get all their bills paid, bus passes et cetera all this doesnt go to decent working people who have recently lost their job it goes to 'career' claimants, most of these of course are signed off sick, walk through basildon town centre during the day time and try to find someone over the age of thirty without a walking stick.

now lets say a young working couple want a house and to start a family they are fcked, cant afford either, while two benefit claimants find that the more kids they have the better the house they get,a very, very fcked up system.

couldnt agree more i despise the idle rich as much as the idle 'poor', the fact is the idle poor are increasing all the time as they tend to breed like rabbits, the only people who can afford to have 5 kids in this country are benefit scroungers and certain sections of the immigrant population, decent working people must be pondering how the unemployed 'poor' are enjoying lifestyles they can only dream of.

my god they sound almost as bad as our MP's in Westminister.

again i bang the same drum-who was it who created a welfare system which rewards the least deserving? not Brussels that was us.
who allows multi national companies to make millions of pounds profit in the UK and not pay a penny of corporation tax? now the french and the germans wouldnt put up with that so again we cant blame Brussels. strikes me most of our problems are off our own making and nobody elses.

indeed the UK is blessed with some lovely scenery such a shame that the average British subject would rather spend their spare time scoffing a McDonalds in a shopping mall or watching the X Factor than exploring the countryside,we live in a country blessed with such scenery and what do we do? build high rise tower blocks and shopping malls, dont it make you proud.

interesting to read a article in todays Daily Mail regarding Savilles 'Crimes', thats funny i never knew he had a criminal record or has enough mud now been thrown that we can all universally agree that he raped young girls.personally i couldnt abide the odious creep and it wouldnt surprise me at all if he was guilty of the crimes hes ALLEGED to have committed but can we please recognize that people getting paid hard cash to appear in a tacky television programme are not the most reliable of witnesses.

probably fair to surmise that the few civil liberties we have left in this country will be suspended during the Olympics as controversy wont meet the approval of the games sponsors like macdonalds and lloyds bank.

again same old criticisms of ESL,actually we are step 5 you're step 7,we are senior clubs,we play in grounds we have sheltered stands,we produce programmes,we have floodlights but no now your argument is because our league is so poor Olympian League teams are not prepared to move up the footballing pyramid to join us. this is like Southend getting knocked out of the FA Cup in the 1st round every season because some of the Division one teams they may meet in the 2nd round have inferior grounds or their changing rooms arent up to standard, what olympian league teams mean is they are far happier patting themselves on the back than actually pushing themselves forward and moving on to greater things,so much easier standing on the touchlines and criticising others in life than actually risking it yourself.

sorry to start on the thorny issue of money but most refs charging over £50 now, obvoisly this is dependant on how much their travelling expenses are. I cant abide dissent and players carded for that i have no problem but too many minor fouls are being cautioned, ive seen matches where 8 cards have been shown and theres not been one real bad foul.Whether assessors are a force for good or bad is probably debatable of course.
