Whatever I say won't do that performance justice. Just incredible everyone of them. Let's hope we have enough time to patch up the walking wounded and back for the semis. The co-commentator and ex manager of them kept on mentioning our apperent lack of fitness and how it will tell in the later stages. Perhaps there's a reason he is now ex manager? Either way Higgins et all played out of this world to shut him and his biased views up.

What a fantastic result for the players I am so pleased that all the hard work paid off and at least we have our own highlights to watch as I most certainly do not want to listen to the dismissive and rather derogatory comments towards our team all game from Darlington's commentary picking at his goal v Maidstone and suggesting they were going to run the lads off the park which thoroughly came back to haunt them with an outstanding performance by the Urchins.
From that first whistle the lads hustled and fought over every part of the pitch, moved the ball around better and dominated the game despite the stats somehow suggesting the home side were having more of the shots and play it's the goals that count.  that first goal was a lovely passing flowing move with the little flick over to Remi from Higgins and Nash putting it away and from that point on we had a game.
The last laugh in this match falls to Higgins who put away a penalty to seal the win and for my money was the man of the match with his intelligent play clever little passes and strong hold up play totally dominating the defence to keep Darlington pushed back.  The Non League paper puts him in as star man too which really rubs salt into the opposition perhaps they will be a bit more respectful in future.
All in all a thoroughly brilliant win and history has been written this weekend for the team and I really hope this group of players and the management team keep writing history this season and for many to come.  it's been such a joy in this hard time of lockdown to be able to watch this team thanks for your hard work and dedication for making happy memories for all us fans

A big well done to the players and everyone else involved with the club. Down to the bare bones again and we still manage to put in a great performance and result to match. Higgins finishing masterclass and Ellis doing his best impression of the Duracell bunny seemed to do the trick...a couple weeks more to train and hopefully at least having Parcell back should really help bulster the squad. Make no mistake there isn't a club left in the competition that wants to get drawn to us right now.
Well played each and everyone one of you.

So we get biased commentry from KLT and our club foot the bill of giving £5 bar credit to the fans? It's a lovely guesture but I hope no one takes the credit offer up from Alex as the club shouldnt be losing out at all here.
£2 from £7 should got to KLT the rest to HX seems fair to me.

Afternoon, everyone, Alex Sharp here, I’ve finally found the fabled forum everyone speaks about! Well what an afternoon, I think my best day (so far!) as Hornchurch Chairman, so proud of everyone involved with the club, in really difficult circumstances we put on a show yesterday, on and off the pitch, this is a very special team we are building here and irrespective of what happens with the League next week, it’s been an honour to watch these fellas get better and better every game they play. So many have said it but they left nothing out there yesterday, I saw players exhausted walking off the pitch, they gave their all for the club. Brilliant goal for Nashe after an amazing run by Ellis, 3 exceptionally well taken penalties and of course 3 incredible saves (there were no misses, they were saved) by the best goalkeeper outside of the National leagues, Joe Wright! The only downside for me was that the ground wasn’t full, the atmosphere would have been amazing, but the priority is of course keeping everyone safe.
Have seen some negative comments about KLTFC mainly around the streaming, which I do understand but just to give a different perspective, which I think most who met them would agree, the KL folk, were a really pleasant and decent, nice group of people, very complimentary about our club and offered hearty congratulations when we won, it was a pleasure to host them and their Chairman, Stephen Cleeve, was very gracious in defeat, I wish them all the very best for the rest of the season, clubs like Kings Lynn Town should be an inspiration for us, being promoted from our level, to Conference North, to National League in consecutive seasons, that’s progression!
Special thanks to Jordan Newman and all at the Supporters Association, without you all the game simply wouldn’t have taken place yesterday.
It was great having BT Sports at the ground for the game and who knows, with a decent draw tomorrow, we might see them back again in Feb! Delighted to report that Colin, Tony, Ken and Dave Ball are all a lot better, keep well and safe everyone, hope to see you all soon!
    Alex

Echo what everyone had said already. The commitment from everyone was fantastic and even with a slightly depleted squad and only fielding 4 subs we put that full time lot to shame. The quickness we broke away definitely didn't look like it was from a team that hadn't played competivly for quite some time. No easy draw left now but let's get the smallest team left please and then once we can all get back in the ground a slightly bigger one for the semi. This money is really going to be useful in keeping the squad together I hope!
    Congratulations everyone.

Another hard fought win in awful conditions. The bad injury to Nash (get well soon) effectively made us slightly disjointed on the left but we held on and apart from the couple of mins of onslaught right at the end we were fairly comfortable dealing with everything Dulwich had. Thought our midfield were great pressing Dulwich and winning the second balls.
The winnings from these games will no doubt be helping in these testing times to Let's hope for a nice draw in the next round to get some more in.

kimbles left foot reacted to Jago in A little bit of history : Hornchurch v Purfleet (aka Thurrock) 88-9
Well it's all very quiet on here so I thought I'd pop in with something that may be of interest to at least some of you.  Or maybe not - but at least it's something,
Anyway - Mr McBride asked me earlier in the season for a copy of the programme when he "scored a hat-trick" for Purfleet against the Mighty Urchins "back in the day"  - you know when Thurrock were still Purfleet and you could still buy a bag of chips for sixpence (old money).
So I checked with a couple of local experts which programme to dig out, (you know,  Hx-guru Tony, who checked with Fleet-sage Norman), and I'm afraid I have bad news Colin.    No such programme exists... largely because you didn't actually score a hat-trick - I guess your mind is a bit muddled these days. 😆   Though you did bag two dodgy knee-bounces in the Thameside Trophy in 1990-91 which was a 4-2 win for Purfleet.  (I'll send you a copy of that separately).
So having started a bit of a research I thought I'd share the programme for the first match of 1988-89 which happened to be Purfleet's first game in the Isthmian League.  You'll see Colin on the teamsheet where he pottered about in a SHOCK 1-0 win for the visitors.   The actual Hornchurch team was not quite as per-programme but close enough.  (If you really want to know you can check "Hornchurch FC - The Official History - 1923-2011".  Available from all good book shops, and the Club Shop!
And more importantly you will see that I was running the line with my favourite yellow flag, suffering untold abuse from Harry & his mates on the Eastside no doubt.
The programme was 4 pages of print but I've bunged the cover on as well - so it won't take too long to read.
Anyway - hope you are all surviving.
Jago (and no it wasn't me on the line you fools).

What a great team performance today, the pressing was really impressive, the movement up front sublime and the defence solid as a rock. Really really impressed with Ruff - he seems the player we've been crying out for, for many a season and on another day it could have been 7! Let's keep these performances going. Also well done the stewards who policed the covid situation very well again.

Sorry we have not attended any home matches this season but Jean is slowly getting over her stroke and we have my mother living with us. At 97 she is very active but she has not been out since April and we have to be careful not to bring home any infections. So for a while we are self isolating as a precaution. Miss the club and supporters hope to see you all in the near future.

I agree, it's not banter directed at players anymore just full blown incoherent abuse. It's not needed at this level or at any level tbh.

After speaking with club officials this morning I think it’s only right the a few things are cleared up in relation to this.
The club does not condone foul and abusive behaviour towards players, officials or staff and has reiterated this the last few years and with a number of posters around the ground highlighting this.

The behaviour last night was not acceptable, we know who is responsible and the persons involved will be spoken too. I understand that people can get frustrated at games, myself included and some things are directed at players etc. Whilst this happens at all games across the country and is accepted there is a line which shouldn’t be crossed and we are finding on occasions this is being crossed. The use of certain words is just not acceptable.

I am also aware of a certain accusation towards the same person last night. After speaking with a number of persons we have found no evidence of this incident occurring and therefore would like to squash the rumours around this.

We have a number of new fans now attending games and do not wish for them to think all of this is acceptable and the ‘Hornchurch Way’. Therefore we as a club will do our upmost to bring this to a complete stop and that people can feel confident coming to games for them to enjoy.

I can only apologise for last nights behaviour and promise you that words will be had and a repeat of this will not happen.

    Up the Urchins.

Firstly well done all the volunteers for making the covid entry system quick and efficient.
    As for the game...
Why play Joe RB when we have a readymade RB on the bench and we were so lacking the creative spark Joe offers in CM?
What formation were we playing? as honestly it was one of the most disjointed performances I've seen for many seasons. Too many stray passes, no commitment, no one speaking or encouragement out there.
The only tactics I could work out was giving it to poor Ellis in the hope he'd pull something out the bag. There's only so much he can do on his own.
Defence couldn't deal with any pace all evening, midfield void of any creativity/ideas and forwards starved of service. On another day the errors may not have happened and we may have come away with a draw however that performance and the second half Vs 10 men walthamstow is worrying.
