cup of tea got a reaction from blackballed in Harringey 1 v Hornchurch POOR
Don't think it was the lack of effort from the guys but I think we just seemed to be missing the guile to get past the team. They have a very experienced manager (as he told me, hinting about probably outlasting a manager from a bigger club down the road!!!) so probably got the best out of their team in terms of setup. I'm sure we'll be fine but we've worked so hard to get on top so games like that are frustrating.

Just happy to escape there with 3 points -first half was very entertaining with both sides creating chances on a really decent surface, the second half show was really disappointing (considering they had 10 men) and at times we looked like the team with 10 but this part of the season is all about results so I'll happily take the 3 points and move on. Final straight now...keep the momentum going! 💪
I must add it was great to see Clarke back in midfield, he adds some much needed energy to our midfield.

Wasn't there but sounded like an exciting game. Great result for us and puts us 5 points clear of Aveley and Stortford. Well done to all

The club have taken measures - it's now far more difficult for young fans to get in. Not a lot you can do at half time though. Brightlingsea complain about everything.

re the feral and bunch of to$$ers.
For a totally strange reason I was on the east side next to the Brightlingsea fans, who were being goaded by the youngsters, all the usual stuff. However something was said towards a supporters partner and it became personal. The Brightlingseas fans did really well in defusing their fan. However security were standing directly next to them and did not really do anything.
It is great to see our youngsters attending but it was sad to see that the younger generation do not understand they are a reflection of our club.
So maybe us adults need be more vocal and involved with our younger fans.

I really don’t like playing Brightlingsea, nothing against the club but we just can’t seem to play well against them. We’re unlikely to be playing them next season. Scrappy goal to go behind to and we just couldn’t seem to get going in the way we know we’re capable of. Equaliser came relatively quickly, I thought that Ade was going to blast the ball through the net, that was hit hard.
second half better but still the frustration was there until the second goal went in, massive relief from the home fans! Once Liam got that goal , things were much more relaxed.
deserved winners and Stortford losing very late means that we’re top of the pile. That was the easy part, the hard work starts now with a game on Tuesday (against a Wingate side running into form unfortunately) that can give us a bit of breathing space.
Some very tricky fixtures in the pipeline, Enfield, Carshalton , Horsham and Billericay won’t be doing us any favours but we critically got the 3 points today and it’s in our hands. Well done to the guys for not letting that early goal stop them and getting the win. COYU

Firstly i think the first half we wasn't at the races but turned things around in the second half with a much more united performance.
Agree its unlikely we wont be playing Brightlingsea next season and quite frankly I hope we don't. Their attempt to tarnish our enjoyment at being top of the league by calling our own fans Ferrell and a bunch of to$$ers on twitter is quite frankly childish.
This however always seems to happen when we beat them either at their ground or at home in the last couple of seasons. One minute they complain we leave the changing room in mess and then as i said the above, obviously cant take losing to a better class of team. As the table shows we are top (currently) and they are in the bottom four!! Very sour grapes.

Looking forward to the post match analysis on here...more dropped points for Stortford I see!

cup of tea reacted to Digger. The. Cat! in I love the smell of 3 points on a Tuesday night
Twas a cold moon lit night in Essex, an interesting formation for the second week, led to some sublime football and a deserved three points. Some strange ref decisions, but that could not stop a dominant Urchins, 3 goals to the good, the woodwork kept the score down. A very impressive debut for Jamie Mascoll, who's ability was clear to see. Well done to Canvey who did us a favour at Stortford.
Onwards to Saturday!

Agree about the Stortford draw, they dropped points for the second game running and those beneath us also had a Tuesday night wobble'fest. Hornchurch with the games in hand are in a very strong position and we just need to keep on track and do what we do best...take all our chances and score the goals. ⚽️❤⚽️❤

Fantastic game of football and the lads played brilliantly for the whole game.
Another deserved clean sheet for Lamar and an excellent first game for Jamie Mascoll from the bench
Shame Stortford drew but we are stalking them for the top spot and if the lads can keep this going and keep focused we will retake the top soon
It's still a long run to the end of the season but if the lads keep playing game by game the way they have been recently then we can win this league.
Keep it going lads

Yes I predicted the score but not the crowd, well done to the 240 hardy souls on a bitterly cold night. The football was on the whole pretty decent.I see Stortford got out of jail in the 95th minute but that's football. We're perched in a lovely position now lots let not blow it,up the Urchins

What a fantastic game of football and Lewes have got better and are better than the results they have and probable the best team we have played this season. They were so quick going forward and in defense they kept it tight and made space hard to find.
But credit to the Urchins to find their way back twice to get a point was excellent and had they had a little luck we probably could have had a penalty.
Both keepers were excellent to keep it such a tight game and the teams played it hard but fair to create a great match for all.
Both sets of fans made a great atmosphere and with other teams failing we gained a valuable point.

Most generous description of Glenn Tamplin I've ever seen and we'll go with that for legal reasons

Cracking game for a neutral , bit nervy if you’re a fan. Both teams set up to attack. Lewes looked very dangerous going forward. We had a lot of possession but Lewes made it difficult, it was like pinball in their penalty box on occasions . Their keeper pulled off an amazing save first half, matched by Lamar second half. Whole defensive line for us worked really hard, Sam was holding the ball and spreading play really well, good to see Liam as well. Had enough chances to take three points but when you go a goal down with not long to go, it’s good to get a point and shows the character of the team. Helps that Stortford lost and Aveley drew as well but just need to keep an eye on Canvey and Enfield behind. Stortford are running into some tricky fixtures now
well done Hornchurch

cup of tea reacted to JRinBelfast in Concord win on Penalties
A massive big thank you to everyone last night for your hospitality, company and assistance with getting to our first away game!
The game itself was really enjoyable and the Concord fans were welcoming...even when we were locked in with them behind the shootout net...a terrible way to lose or win any game with a peno lottery. But Onwards and upwards in the League we go and we'll be back over soon👌
BTW...Barking as an overnight base ended up surprisingly alright...But we will stick to what we know going forward!

cup of tea reacted to PONY TAILED URCHIN in Concord win on Penalties
Well we lost in a penalty shootout but cannot and should not feel like we lost, the lads played a fantastic game of football and were unlucky not to be 2 or 3 nil up at half time.
Ref awarded a penalty correctly only for linp to rule incorrectly offside
Then 2nd half we got better and better scoring a legitimate goal to again be ruled incorrectly offside before nash curled.a beauty round the keeper
Such a shame concord git 1 back due to us switching off for a minute before we end up losing on penalties.
I'm really proud of the performance tonight the lads played well and if we can play like that for the rest of the season then the title is for us to decide
Keep going lads up the Urchins !

Absolutely what we needed today. Battling display from Cray who needed the points for their own promotion bid and probably edged the performances early on and looked dangerous for the whole game but Hornchurch then increasingly looked good going forward and deserved the win, especially in the second half. Usual suspects played well (Sam,Ade etc.) and Chris Dickson had a decent game and a decent finish as well. Maybe Cray got a bit frustrated near the end, there could have been one or two more bookings but that’s not important. Great to see Liam back as well, even for a cameo performance. Stortford dropped points so it’s closed up again with 1 point between the top 3 and dropped points for Enfield and Canvey and Hastings as well. Very happy Urchin today COYU

Game of two halves, change at half time made the difference, gave us more balance, composure and confidence in defence. Three points were never in doubt.

As Alex Sharp would say, another week when Hornchurch aren't top of the table - but for about 25 minutes we were #1 and I'm sure we will be again, all we have to do is when every remaining 12 games. Or just match Stortford and win the game in hand.
Have to admire the versatility as well. Left back at centre half, right back at left back. And then Jordan comes on at right back having started his 2 previous games as a striker.
