  1. Thanks Bronco. Whatever the rights or wrongs of that decision, I enjoyed the afternoon and that's what's important.
  2. Indeed but there were other defenders in the vicinity and it was clumsy rather than a deliberate trip. The Farnham supporters (and player) I was standing with were amazed he was sent off and assumed he must have said something to the ref. (Having watched him play this season I knew that was extremely unlikely.)
  3. Except it appears the ref doesn't know the law has been changed about red card for last defender this season.
  4. Guess there'll be a number of games off today. Those looking for a late switch of game may be interested to know that Windsor v Hanworth Villa is ON.
  5. Windsor 2-0 RPV. Not a great game to watch with very little quality on show but happy with 3 points and a clean sheet.
  6. Windsor 0-0 Walton & Hersham Well, with our new wonderkid Keanu Williams off to Villarreal B Team I feel a little flat to be honest. He only played about 120 minutes for us but lit the place up. Still, bloody good luck to him - big step up / great opportunity. Today was another battling point gained but could have been all 3 if we had got on the end of 4 or 5 inviting crosses that just eluded our strikers. W&H were threatening at times but rarely created anything in front of goal. Word up for experienced striker Kieran Knight who has filled in superbly in the centre of defence in the last 2 games.
  7. Ha! Don't know quite where 2-2 came from. Must have been thinking about H's prediction in the Observer!
  8. North Greenford Utd 2-2 Windsor Battling point for both teams. Overall NGU probably were more dominant although Windsor were a little profligate in front of goal with some gilt-edged opportunities being squandered. Yet again a load of changes for Windsor - 2 new faces and forced to play our centre forward in central defence. I assume more injuries, family events and holidays are to blame but it would be nice to see a settled team. It really would.
  9. The Slough game is ticket only is it not? And car parking is for STHs only. Edit - oh right, already mentioned I see...
  10. Windsor 4-2 Guildford. Wow!! What a game. Best I've seen at Stag Meadow for a long time. We have a proper team now. Guildford are no slouches and played some really good football at times, but we showed some sparks of brilliance and a very solid defence. Some cracking goals and full blooded tackles. And a very gobby No 3 for Guildford who lost the plot with the Windsor fans big time making the result all the more enjoyable. Well done everyone concerned. Early days but I think there's going to be plenty to enjoy this season which should hopefully see the missing numbers start coming back to the Meadow.
  11. Windsor 2-1 Epsom & Ewell (Att 202) 6 changes to the starting line up from last week's disappointing reverse at Bedfont Sports and, not that the youngsters who started last week were at fault, the additional experience introduced to the back 4 made a significant difference. In all honesty, tense and enjoyable though it was, it wasn't a game with much slick pass and move on display, but was certainly a great game for Windsor to win against tough opponents who were on a bit of a roll. E&E took the lead midway through the 1st half when a back pass was badly under hit and left Sobte in no man's land - pretty simple for the striker to round him and roll into an empty net. Windsor hit back soon after with a splendid solo goal from Kieran Knight - spun his marker adeptly to create space, took a couple of strides forward and slammed it right in the bottom corner. A super finish and although I've seen mention of him in a former club's match reports as "veteran" he certainly knows where the goal is! Late winner came from sub debutant Keanu Williams, a product of the new Cox Green Academy connection, which ended with 3 players on the pitch. The blend of youth and experience looked promising and resilient today and I detected a mood of optimism amongst fans that hasn't been felt for a while. Let's see what Tuesday and Guildford brings!
  12. Unfortunately, when the ref said he would call the police if your guy didn't move away from the pitch he did threaten him with physical violence which didn't help matters but it really was quite farcical. On occasions that ref can be quite good, he does play advantage well and can be quite helpful in educating younger players (I've known him for years since my son was in U10s football) but he is too officious and often talks himself into trouble - a little charm when dressed in black goes a long way, unfortunately whatever he has of that quality in the real world is left behind when he gets onto the football pitch.
  13. U18s game - Windsor 2-1 Hartley Wintney. Decent game played by 2 young talented eams, who will do well in time, but will probably struggle in some of the physical challenges that lie ahead against big hairy bearded 18 year olds in their leagues this season. Referee spoiled it somewhat with a 10 minute delay but that's a-whole-nother story. I believe their coach (Luke) gets on here and might comment further! (My son, also Luke, ran the line and had a good natter with him, said what a nice guy..,)
  14. Nobody has mentioned Windsor yet.... Having lost keeper Carl Dennison we assume that 17yo Hugo Sobte will be stepping up. Having come through various PL academies since a young boy he is an excellent keeper with super distribution. Physicality could be the challenge but I think he will do well. Our squad still isn't fully settled having fielded many trialists in PSFs. Things haven't properly gelled yet but with a whole new coaching set up the makings are there of an excellent 1st eleven capable of producing some good football; we have a fair smattering of talented teenagers coming through and with one or two names to be added yet if they are the ones we are hoping for we could yet be challengers. Depth could be the problem. Just for giggles... Windsor Epsom & Ewell Hartley Wintney
  15. Windsor v Flackwell Heath 7.45 Stag Meadow tonight.
  16. Windsor 1-4 Chesham Utd Res Still loads of what I assume are triallists. Presumably decisions will now be made so we can field a settled squad for the last 2 PSFs.
  17. Windsor 4-1 Chalvey Sports Good to see James Quinn back from USA.
  18. Windsor had a few 1st teamers from last season but the team of 20 or so was mainly made up of trialists from what I could see and although 2 or 3 new faces looked decent enough most were clearly not up to the standard of CCLP. Well, IMHO anyway. I know one should not go to the early pre-season games expecting much as they are little more than a means of player assessment for the management but that was seriously uninspiring for the spectator yesterday. Still, at least it didn't rain!
  19. Guildford paid their players last year??? Putting some money into the pitch might have been a better investment. Hopefully that's been done now so it doesn't look like an Olympic Shot Put Arena next season.
