Hmmm... not sure we're in any sort of doldrums Steph; we won our previous two games,  and were unlucky yesterday. It's been a long time since one piece of idiotic refereeing has cost us so badly. After 70 minutes I honestly didn't think we could lose - it wasn't pretty,  and our team selection was cagey to the point of timidity, but we had created all the decent chances, in fact Carshalton hadn't had a shot on target.
Then Mr Smith decided that he wanted to be the star of the show...   🤬

    Old Towner.
Were you actually at the game.
Slippery slope not on today's performance. We were well I  the game until Billy Big Bollox ref makes an appalling decision and sends billy off for simulation when he was clearly fouled.
Anybody who watches Billy regularly knows the one thing he isnt is a diver.
The incompetent linesman ruled out a perfectly good goal by Junior when he was never in a million years off side.
Fans on this forum really should start going to games before writing negative posts on here.

So you're disqualifying Shulton on the two year rule but want to include Faal who has only just completed one year?

Think we signed him when Weatherstone appeared to have a serious injury, which does not appear to have materialised. Surely these things happen with a small squad and tight budget?

The club can not afford contracts look how much the contracts that are there now cost. A large sum paid out each and every week even if injured or suspended or anything else! A situation like this is very rare and to use contracts just in case will kill the club in less than a season

Mo was advised by his agent not to sign a contract at our club.
No matter how hard the directors tried if he wont sign he wont sign simples.
Maybe you can suggest what you would have done in that situation.

I think we have to give priority to the needs of ETFC rather than MFA. Management made the right call in my view but I am still hugely disappointed with the performance of our back up players.

    Hi,
    New forum member here.
I lack the match analysis skills of some and tend to just go with the gut feeling of 'Did I enjoy it? Was it watchable? Was it worth the money? etc".
The answer is an emphatic yes. Of course it helps to see a win but :
Loadsa goals - and what good goals. A variety of scorers. Both defences were still finishing off their Xmas puds.
A game of 2 halves I thought. Felt we were threading the passes better in the build up after halftime. First half was just punt and hope.
A chance to see live football for an easily affordable price - Xmas jumpers for goalposts.
There's no VAR. The officials' mistakes are their own and long may they make them.
Really looking forward to Potters Bar on New Year' Day. W8 and 313 buses and a short walk - bish, bash, bosh, away win, job done. Hello new decade.

Well you should know with your experience that when you offer someone a contract they have to want to accept before there is a deal 🤣

The point is if we think it is acceptable that other teams rest players in some competitions then why don’t we apply the same standard to us?
this is a charity cup fixture, sandwiched between 2 huge league fixtures in a week. If we played our first team it would of been 3 fixtures in a week. They are not superhuman. Let’s say we played mo and billy up front and one of them pulled a hamstring and was ruled out for a month, we would be berating the manager for risking our star players in a minor cup match which pays no money to the club

Highly enjoyable game between two evenly matched teams. The match report on the website is spot on, congrats to the reporter.
Blackman and Youngs both had excellent games in midfield, both tackling and passing well. We were shaky in defence but it seems to me that most teams in this league are stronger going forward than defending.
Mohammadu Faal bagged another two well taken goals but I was more impressed by Bricknell who worked his socks off, particularly in the second half. He fully deserved his goal and I think Faal's all round game has improved as a direct result of playing with, and learning from, Bricknell.
A closing word about the manager, who, in my opinion, gets far too much stick on this forum. To his credit, whenever the squad has needed reinforcing due to injuries, suspensions or poor form, he has brought somebody in. The new player looked useful, despite being absolutely flattened in the first half, and I won't be surprised if another centre-back comes in at some point, as we do lack cover there.
I'm looking forward to Potters Bar on New Year's Day - if we can get a win there, it will have been a good festive period!
    Happy New Year to all!

Just watched highlights of last nights game safe to say we missed some good chances to score more unfortunately it seems Nathan chose last night to have a bit of a nightmare game in goal but to be fair he has kept us in so many games this season

Just following up on this one as it's confused me a little: I'd be interested to know specifically what type of responses you're referring to - all I've seen of late on here is supporters expressing increasing levels of concern around our recent form, lack of cover and general play. Admittedly some are slightly more glass half full than others (myself included), and are still willing to give the management the benefit of the doubt based on how well we played this season until a month ago.
We also know, as it has been mentioned on a number of occasions, that we aren't going to get any kind of official response on this forum - we've been there and done that in the ESL days, and it led to all sorts of issues. I would honestly suggest that anyone wanting to discuss the current predicament should seek out a board member, or one of the management team at the next game they attend and have a constructive discussion about the direction of the squad/club. I'm pretty certain that the board/management are fully aware of our dip in form, and are as concerned as the fans are.

Conversely, we very much had a game plan against Braintree... and it worked well. I'm not defending the performances of late, as some of them have been pretty bad by all accounts, but at times this season we have played some decent stuff and I'm not sure it's altogether fair to ignore these performances and jump on the management as soon as we have a bad run. Yesterday was always going to be tough against a side two steps above us, and fair play to Andy and the players for delivering two decent cup runs and getting us as far as they did. For me the next few league games are key in terms of restoring confidence, starting to play like a team again and hopefully stringing together some results.

MTHead were you actually at the game.
Think it's fair to say our game plan went out the window after the early goal and then Billy's penalty miss could gave changed everything,Go in 1-2 at half time and who knows, and also remember missing key players of course didn't help
But we lost to a better, fitter well organised team of full time players but take nothing away from our boys who didn't disgrace themselves and took us to the furthest we have been in the FA Trophy.
    Proud of you guys.⚽️⚽️

No doubt we were second best today but that’s no disgrace against a full time side from two divisions above.
Another land mark achieved our first ever appearance in the FA Trophy.

3 or 4 weeks ago, we had a good, exciting squad that was moving up the league... not much has changed in that respect, we've just picked up a few injuries and are playing without confidence. I'd say that maybe one or two additions to freshen things up would help (especially in midfield), but I don't think we need wholesale changes - we need to get back to how we were playing not long ago. For me, that's the management's challenge, and will show us how good they are.

Reality check? The U23s are not having a great season - 8th out of 10 in the league, with 7 points from 6 matches! And yes, I have seen quite a bit of them....

Spurs season ticket holder pays the full amount but brings a child in for free. I could live with that but I wouldn't want the adult paying less than me, unless they were a concessionary rate.
