I know for the Charlton website that they are playing two games that night, but it has been said by Alan Pardew that he will split his squad and send strong ones to both games, so hopefully a few of the prospective first teamers will make an apperance at Stonebridge Road, and I will be there to see two of the teams I love.

As a Charlton season ticket holder I am disgusted by the club decision to axe the women's team due to financial reconstruction, which I can undertand has to occur following relegation last season. The Charlton women's team have been the 2nd best team over the last few years and the only real challenge to Arsenal. I feel the club's rash (it seems that way) decision is a nail in the coffin of women's football, which having seen a few games my self, is just as good as the men's. I know Ebbsfleet have a team so them taking on the mantle is not an option. I feel most sad for the players.

I have volunteered to help out with the Tour de France when it comes to London and the South East to start at the beginning of July. I am required on Sunday 8th and I have to be at the Valley for 6am on the Sunday morning and will then be allocated somewhere on the route to marshall. Looking forward to it, as I have watched it on TV for years and I will probably head into London on the Saturday to watch the Prologue.

I know that Charlton banned smoking inside the Valley last season, but not in the concourse that run benetath the stands. I assume that it will be banned also from the 1st July, although surely if you are in the open air then you will be allowed to smoke!!!!

I read in the Daily Mail today that there football writer was bemoaning the possible loss of the Conference name as the leagues are going to be called the Blue Square Premier, North and South. Surely the new sponsers want to see their name in lights but always the old conference name could be incorporated too.

Not 100% sure I like the change strip but the home one looks as good as always. I still have a blue away top from a couple of season ago and I will trasure that from now on as a piece of history!!!!

Well all the best to Charlie, as I have said before he deserves the chance at a higher level and I hope he does well for Southend. The Fleet will certainly miss him and we have a hole to fill!!!!

Well as always I need to stick my two pennyworths in. Surely this is a big step forward for the club is securing a sponership agreement with a new business entering the area and tying it up with the name change, hopefully it wil give the club the foundation to move forward after the great effort last season. Most of the squad have been retained and no doubt Liam Daish is working hard to get some more players in. Hopefully some optismism will abound and let's look forward to the 2007/08 season.

Well according to the Charlton website there fixtures will be annoucned on the 14th June, so is not the Blue Square Premier at the same time? Season due to start on 11th August and I assume that will be the same day for the Fleet.

I would never play for England, lol. :-)

I think it was through a business man who was involved with he club and had links to agents of players, I beleive that is how they got Gazza and Big Ron there, even if only for a short period of time.

Well we will see, it will be something to treasure given the club has now changed name, so I will wait and see.
Cheers :-)

Well I was speaking to my Uncle in Scotland at the weekend, and even he had picked up on the name change, so at least it is spreading across the whole country!!!! I still have a away strip from a couple of years ago which I wear, and I will treasure it because of the badge. It will take a little while to get used to the new name next season, but in essence it is the same club, same badge, mostly the same players, and will be supported by the same people.

Well I have been cheeky and upped the anti by £10. I know it will not win, but felt the need to keep it moving!!!!

May Vera forever rest in peace and watch over the Fleet.

Well as I have said before, I think Charlie Mac deserves the chance at a higher level, and while it would have been great if the Fleet could have retained him, we have to except the we cannot not stand in the way of players progressing.

Dancing in the streets then!!! Lol

Good that the two most experienced players have been signed up for another season, any more news would be welcomed. At least we have the core of a squad already in place, and the retention of some of the players mentioned above plus a few new faces should leave the club in a good position for the new season. :-)

Maybe we could have him back at Charlton to try and fire us back to the Premiership. It would mean we could start with a non-league recruited front line with Chris Dickson and Charlie at the top of the 4-4-2!!!!!! In all seriousness I hope if Charlie does decide to move on he gets a chance with a decent club in league one or the Championship. I like all Fleet fans, would love him to stay and that would give the squad a real boost.

Well I was going to come back and keep supporting the Fleet next season, so I can see Championship Football, Blue Sqaure Premier and Scottish Division One Football next season. Charlton went down in the end but I expected that pre-christmas, at least Alan Pardew gives us hope for next season. Good to see that a core of players is already in place for EbbsFleet's first season.

I don't think it is selling out, the more I think about it, it seems like a progressive move by the club to try and buy into the regeneration of the local area. I lived in Northfleet for over 10 years and I come back every so often and the changes have been immense. There is also the proposed housing complex to be built in the ex-quarry opposite Bluewater, a chance to get some new fans on bard maybe. As CG says, the board memebers have been around for a while and they are not selling the club, just changing the name and trying to move it forward.

Well I was surprised to see this annoucement but having digested the decision and can see some of the reasons behind it, giving the changes taking place in the area where the club is based. One of the moans on here over the last few years, has been the profile of the club, but I do wonder if this name change will do anything to improve that. I will still come back at see 'The Fleet' when I can, and I hope that this is a step forward and the club moves on from here.

I think from what I have read recently, Liam Diash wants to stay at the Fleet and lead the team forward, let's hope that is the case but I also think at this level you need to accept that if your manager does well than other clubs will come looking, and no doubt Mr Diash has ambitions to progress like we all do!!!!
:-)

Well I can't make it back, but in will be interesting to see on here what was said, if they are going to change the club's name then I hope it is not EbbsFleet!!!!! Hopefully a sponser for next season will be annouced and maybe something about a new ground!!!!
Dream on I hear the cry!!!!

Just out of interest...
