Remiss of me not to post on this thread until now, but as the regulars will now, I am an occasional poster, although I do pop in and read the threads a few times every week. No matter what happens on Saturday, I think the Fleet can finish no worse than 8th this season, which I feel it a very creditable achievement for all the reasons listed above. Let's hope for a fantastic end, bit if not, then I hope the core of the squad can be rertained with a few additions made and that we can challenge as strongly in 2007/08.

Oh no, here I come to stick my oar in again!!!! I think Rob Quinn has had a good season, he is in the team to do a job and when he does it effectively most fans don't notice. When he does not, then everyone does. This is one of my pet hates. I believe you should always get behind your team, good or bad. Although I accept that fans have the right to their views, if you pay to watch and you see a team putting in no effrot, then you have every right to moan. At Charlton this season we reached that nadir at one point when we lost to Wycombe in the Carling Cup and the fans all chanted 'you are not fit to wear the shirt'. Also the Scottish team where I was brough up, Hamilton, have a support who are so vociferous that several have been banned for bad mouthing the team at home games. Ok, maybe the season has gone up in smoke, but I still feel it has been a good one for the Fleet and two wins in the next few days might just leave us with something to play for at Dagenham on the last day of the season. :-)

Ok, I will through a cat amongst the pigeons, I have heard that Llanera, a spanish property company who have offices in Maidstone and sponser Charlton, would be interested in sponsering other clubs in the area, and maybe the Fleet might be in with a chance of getting their names on the shirts. You would have to hope that the Directors do have other irons in the fire if they have turned down the offer of another year with Austrain.

Well I returned on Saturday, and I have kept quiet until now. Ok the first goal was a mistake by Cronin, but then for the number of times he has saved us this season, you can't have a go at the guy. The 2nd goal was so blatantly offside it was unbelieveable. If the striker who was onside had gone on and scroed then ok, but the striker who did score was clearly offside initially and it should not have been allowed. The penalty decision was laughable too, and just summed up the officials performance. Maybe our season is nearly over, but the boys need to respond by getting 6 points this week and see where it leaves us heading to the final game. Hopefully Exter and York might slip up and let us back in, back it will be hard. :-)

I think we all know that usaully you get twists and turns at the end of the season, we need to win the three home games and see where we stand goiing into the final game. I think the goal difference issue is beyond repair, so just concetrate on winning the games, keep it tight at the back and go forward like we did on Monday when we won the game with a solid performance. This Saturday against Southport will be a battle, as they have had a couple of decent results recently. The other games might be easier but we will see. :-)

Spooky, we almost posted at the same time, but I cannot spell Square!!!!

Saw this on the BBC Site this morning, so it is good that the upper level of non league football have secured their future for the next few years. According to the BBC report, the current National Conference will be retitled 'Blue Sqaure Premier' and the North and South Conference called 'Blue Sqare North and South'. Setanta are investing in football across the UK, so as Alan says, the Fleet should get some more financial backing next season even if we don't make it to the Football League!!!!

I listened in on the web, and it did sound like an impressive performance and one that keeps the season going for the time being. Let's hope that york lose tonight and we can put pressure on them and Exeter at the weekend. I think we need to win the 3 homes games over and see where that leaves us heading towards the final game of the season. I will say again, I feel that what has been achieved this season is a credit to the management and the players. For a club of the resources avaialble at the moment I feel we are punching above our level and suddenly league forward is almost within touching distance. Keep the faith!!!!! :-)

Well I returned to Gravesend again last night to cheer on the Fleet. Though we came on of the traps firing and had 3 good chances in first few minutes, then bang, Long short free-kick went wrong and we ended up 1-0 down after six minutes. Thought the rest of the first half was then a battle, but we got on top at times and then the chances came at both ends. Lance saved us and their goalie saved them!!! Eventually the goal came, although it seemed a bit surreal the way that it happened. I thought the officials were very poor, but then it was the same for both teams. In the end I suppose a draw was fair, and I think it leave us struggling to make the play-offs.

I think Lance kept us in the game at certain points, and in the end you have to say that Aldershot's goalie saved them from losing as well. Could have been 7-6 instead of 1-1!!!! I though the new forwsrd, Chukki as he will become know, had a promising first game. Opinel was also his usual self, 110% committed to the cause. What cost us was the central midfield pairing of Quinn and Long.

I post on here every so often, and I recall saying on secveral threads during the season that I felt that if the Fleet could finish in the top 10 this season, it would be an achievement. Ok, the team have hit a blip in the last couple of game and need a win tomorrow at home to Burton to get back on track and keep in the hunt for a play-off place. I think Gary raises a very valuable point, in that no reserve football means that fringe players do not get up to match fitness or sharpness and this maybe has hurt the team a little at times. Liam Diash has built a strong small squad, and maybe the comment above about not strengtening may be the crucial point in the end. But at the same time, surely it is sensible for the club not to spend money which it does not have. What do we want to see the club achieve in the end? Long term stability and the chance to move forward forward, or financial hardship amd maybe one season in the football league!!!!! :-)

Well I ventured back to Gravesend on Tuesday night, my sixth visit this season and the first loss I have seen. I though the Fleet played really well in the first half and should have been 2 or 3 goals to the good and not just the one. Credit to the Weymouth manager who changed things at the start of the second half and that seemed to give them more of the ball and create chances. We kept fighting and have good chances in the second half and it was a frustrating night. Hope the Fleet can get back on track next week and keep going till the end of the season. I still feel, personally a top 10 finish would be some achievement.

All I can say is how many times do you see this happen!!!! A win is a win and there will be lots of twists are turns to come before the end of the season. If you hang in sometimes you get rewards which you don't really deserve. So all credit to the Fleet for battling to another 3 points. Hopefully a home win on Tuesday will keep the ball rolling.

I think your right Gary, team that find form now will be the ones who make the end of season play-offs. I think the Fleet's form over the last few months has been hit and miss at times. Some great results at times, offset by some bad performances. We need to push on now and really get something from Saturday's game and secure a win at home to Weymouth next week, that will get us going again.

These are the sort of things you should pin up on a dressing room wall and make the players think, right let's sort this lot out. The Fleet from what I have seen this season are in no way a dirty team, it is a physical league.

Well it is good to see that the club is finally getting some recognition from the press and the FA. It can only maybe help with getting a few more people to go along to home games. I think for the next step to be taken, a new stadium is a must.

I bet the Heart's fans wish they knew what planet Mr Romanov is on!!!!! Lol. The man is destroying the club.

As I jusr said in my last post, I feel Liam Diash has done a brillant job is building a squad, which seems to all pull for each other, and want to do well. A good starting eleven today, and some back up on the bench. The only down side today was maybe the performance of our goalkeeper!!!!

It is a good question and my own view is no, we are not ready for league football. I still feel the Fleet have punched above their weight this season and I do hope they can keep it going. The club does wonders on it limited finances. The crowds seem to stay much the same and you would expect more support for a team in such a lofty league position. I don't get back as often as I would like, and I see the same loyal supporters every time I do venture back. I also feel the club needs to move forward with finding a new ground, up to date and modern, ready for league football. That will not be easy without finance from somewhere. I don't think Gravesham council will be as generous as Dartford's were!!!!! The change to full time status for all players at the start of this season as certainly led to this season's success, and Liam Diash has built a good squad, who all seem to pull for each other. Some teams go a long way on that, so who knows where it could lead. No doubt there will be plenty of other views on this.

I was there today and it was great to see the Fleet win, I tihkn I have been lucky this season, been back to Stonebridge Round on 6 occassions and seen a positive result every time. It was a battle today against a very good side. We dug in and secured the 3 points which is what you need to do to finish near the top of the table. Charlie Mac worked hard, Long was good, Quinn does a job which is unheralded in midfield. The defence did look a little under pressure at times, but they battle and I think we just about deserved the win. All the games are big now, and I hope the Fleet can keep going.

Well I got to work ok, mind you when I got to Abbey Wood yesterday morning they said there were no trains. But one did turn up 10 mins later and I got to work in Central London a little later than normal. But getting home last night was ok and no problems this morning, and the predicted heavy frost has not materialised where I live. Hope the pitch at Stonebridge Road is ok as I was planning to come back and watch the Fleet tomorrow. First chance I have had really since the Boxing Day game against Crawley.

Kidderminster have done well over the last couple of months, and I think for some reason we have kept going along under the radar of some of the pundits who still think we are a small club. Liam Diash and Alan Kimble have done a great job at the Fleet, after some early concerns, and I always say this when I post on here, but I still feel a place in the top 10 at the end of the season would be a great achievement, reaching the play-offs would be wonderful for the Fleet and their fans.

It would be good to see all the big end of season games back at Wembley, I have seen the stadium from the outside a couple of times and it looks impressive. And on the BBC sport site recently they had a video of the inside and it looked almost ready. I understand the FA intend to hold possibly and Under 21 games and a Women's international there to gain the safety certificate, which I believe requires 2/3rds of the capacity to be in place. Let's hope it is ready soon and fans at all levels will get to experience the new Wembley.

Justin Edinburgh delighted, I hope that was tongue in cheek!!!! How long before Hill takes over as the manager. Weeks or months depending on how Grays go along no doubt. I think we Fleet Fans should be glad of the stability we seem to have!!!!!

Well as I have said in numerous posts this season, I think the Fleet have punched above their weight and finishing 7th is a brillant effort and hopefully they can build from here. I for one, will come back at see the Fleet when I can, probably now, in between watching Charlton in the Championship next season, as I think we are heading for relegation. Let's hope the core of the squad can be retained, that Liam Diash remains as manager and that with the addition of a few more experienced players we can have a real go for promotion in 2007/08.
