Well done to the club’s Public Relations team for the game 1,000 publicity. I love reading the Twitter feed and photos, the website article was excellent and Mr. Chairman’s contribution on the Non-League Football Show was first class and well worth a listen.
I also thought the publicity the club released recently pointing out the 4 ETFC players who have since moved to football league teams, was timely and well handled. The more hooks we set, the more bites we get - there are plenty of Faal’s , Whiteley’s and Davison’s looking for clubs like ours. This type of differentiator will us help attract quality players - it’s not always just the money.
All helps supporters like me who can’t get to many games, stay connected and feel proud of the club. Well done guys!! Now hoping for a performance and result at Cheshunt tomorrow to keep the feel good going!!

Barney, its 2020. Fans Forums are far from a recent invention. I would hope - in fact expect - that the Board would keep their ear to the ground. Other than the terraces and the bar, THIS is where fans discuss the club. It may not be an official avenue of communication, but in this day and age the Board need to keep abreast of the mood. Sure, there's the odd the trouble-maker from Cheshunt loitering around, but most of the other opinions are entirely valid and worth consideration.
If the Board are reliant upon people standing up at the AGM and asking questions in order to understand the mood of the fanbase then they are about 20 years behind the times. Ignore social media at your peril. Lets not forget that we have a President of the US who communicates policy (and his every thought!) via Twitter!

MUHAMMADU FAAL (22, striker, Enfield Town)
Linked with: Norwich, Watford, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Sheffield United
The new Jamie Vardy? Here's one from non-league...
Striker Faal has struck 24 times for seventh-tier Enfield Town, attracting the attention of Premier League clubs.
If he does get a move, Faal might find himself playing against Liverpool defender Joe Gomez - his second cousin.

It has been an absolute pleasure watching Mo this season. He looks likely to score every time he gets the ball - and works tirelessly in defence. If only he'd been available against Chichester in the FA Cup...

It kind of feels as if we've plateaued. Barring a significant influx of cash (from reaching R3 of the FA Cup, some wealthy members of the fanbase dying off and leaving us everything) or the acquisition of a talented new manager who can work miracles (in the style of Brad Quinton), we seem destined to loiter around mid-table in the Isthmian Premier League for the foreseeable future. There is, of course, no shame in this given the fact that we came into existence just over 18 years ago. But I would like to think that as a club we should aim high. Afterall, many of us came to associate Enfield with being at the very pinnacle of the non-league game. I would like to see ETFC locking horns with the likes of Barnet on a regular basis, and reaching FA Trophy finals. I want an ambitious club with an ambitious board, and an ambitious manager. Have we reached as far as a fans-owned club of our size can go?

Mr Tamplin's stated ambition is to take Romford to the Football League. I seem to remember he made similar proclamations about Billericay. Can someone remind me which division in the Football League he managed to get them up to?

I see its all happening at Romford. For those who this has passed by, Glenn Tamplin (former shy, reclusive and understated owner of Billericay) has now taken over at Romford. The team are currently bottom of Isthmian Div 1 North. GT has promptly sacked the management and entire playing staff, installed himself as manager and announced that there will be 15 new signings in place by Saturday!

The Crowing Cockerel got a reaction from MbrunoB in Enfield Town v Hornchurch
I thought Hornchurch were the better side - and just stronger physically. I wouldn't necessarily say that they were dirty, but certainly committed in the tackle, and on another day a couple of challenges could've seen red. Nevertheless, it was effective. Hornchurch won most headers in the 2nd half and largely controlled the game after the break. As we know they have spent money, and I expect them to be in the top 2 come the end of the season.
Town are probably 2 or 3 players short of realistically challenging for the title - central defence and central midfield.

Many of us probably remember the reasons behind the 'Not the...' title.
Fortunately that story (eventually) had a happier ending for those with a healthy dislike of Leyton FC (RIP) and it's former owner.

COT, Joe is a very good shot-stopper - loves to save the odd penalty too. I thought he struggled with crosses and his kicking/distribution lacked accuracy. That said, a very decent keeper at this level.

The Crowing Cockerel reacted to behind-the-goal in The Velocity Trophy? Meh...
This season has been a boring disaster. Who gives a flying one if we win "The-trophy-that-changes-its-name-every year-or-so"?
There have been two sublime moments at Donkey Lane: the play-off semi-final (due to the sensational unfolding of the game and the unbelievable release of tension after the penalty shoot-out).
And the 8-2 against Beveran (due to their wonderful supporters and the incredible atmosphere).
Nothing has come close to those two moments. Utter boredom from Andy Leese is the norm (and whatever he says to the opposite, he's dreadful at relating to us fans).

At the moment 4WF I just want to see some good football and be entertained.... I don’t really care about the playoffs now because quite frankly promotion at this time could be a bad thing.... we have a skeleton squad now with no planning for the future on the field ... I fear the extra money we receive will nowhere be enough to provide a competitive squad with the extra travelling required... it could be an absolute embarrassment playing the Andy Leese way in the National south....Dulwich are just above the relegation places and they had crowds of 3000....  let’s win the cup... lift a trophy and let’s get a manager in that will do this club justice .....

Seconded 4WF! Nothing to add to your comments other than that I have always been very disappointed that the powers that be at our club did not even deem it necessary to make an announcement that Mark had officially left the club after being on loan to Haringey. At the very least a 'Thank you' to him would have been nice. After all, he wasn't any old player - he was/is part of our history.

Thought we played some great stuff in the 1st half and 3-0 wouldn't have flattered us. We weren't nearly so dominant in the 2nd half though and Stortford showed that they are a strong outfit. Reassuring to see that this new ETFC has plenty of resilience. I think we came away with 3pts but we also came away firmly grounded - we aren't the finished article yet and there's plenty of improving to do.

Interested to see how Andy fits Greene and Blackman into this side and also how much more potent we'll look with a fully fit Bricknell up top.

The Crowing Cockerel got a reaction from CheshFan in Tactically superb
Days like yesterday are what we got Andy & Darren in for. Their tactical nous very very nearly saw us through to the 1st Round. I had my doubts for a while, but they now seem to be assembling a very solid squad. Aaron and Mickey were brilliant wing-backs yesterday. They defended as if their lives depended upon it, and on the rare occasions when they were able to venture forward, produced an end result - Mickey's cross for Simon to head home and Aaron's cross leading to the foul on Sam Youngs.

Whatever happens on Tuesday, I'm very proud to be a Towner. In a very short time Andy & Darren have put together a team which can beat anyone in our league...and we're only 3 months into this project.

As for the support. The drumming was awesome and were the result based on singing alone then we would've won 6-0!

I reckon Ryan Blake could yet be the star on Tuesday.
