We looked far better than up at Harrogate (albeit Eastleigh are not going to be challenging for the top), and never looked like conceding. It was just a case of could we score? Which we did. Twice. Should have been three. Nice one. Meanwhile we have a surprise new leader in the Prediction League – Sir Colin – who has been grinding out unspectacular but effective results all season, almost as if he were still playing for Purfleet. On a day of big derbies, Clive v Luke just went the way of the Wonky Donkey in a great game for the neutral, while Mr and Mrs Jago ended all square which helped keep the peace at Jago Towers. In the other big derby, Adrian literally forgot to turn up so it was an unexpectedly easy win for The Geezer. And if you have an account with Bet365, lump on the draw for Blackballed next week... he's done it again. Down in Div 2 it’s turning into a two horse race for the wooden spoon between The Desperado and The Baby, both of whose defences are frankly shocking. So expect some big moves in the transfer market this week, or the purchase of some rusty old buses to park. Lord Upminster stays top. Only one team seemed to turn up. Interesting fact, we started today's game with eight players from our squad last season. A beautiful autumn day, slight wind in the air and a great atmosphere for the 1100 fans. Todays game seemed to be one that we need to point out the poor officiating. We got nothing from the ref apart for yellow cards. I was impressed by the Eastleigh player Aaron Blair he seemed to be everywhere but achieved nothing, it was interesting to see the Eastleigh attacking where they play with a player in the offside position, but they stop and another player runs through..........interesting but achieved nothing! I thought the two Henry's played well in the first half but there only reward was a yellow card each. Our defence was solid, Jack, Tom and Frankie were excellent. A great second goal of the season for Dom, thoroughly deserved. Second half and two changes, brought off the two henry's to bring on Westy and Lofty, no pun intended. Boy does Lofty get about and was unlucky with an opportunity in front of goal, Westy on the other hand is the perfect description of quality does not desert you with age, the service he put into the box was superb. A great set piece and a well deserved goal for Jack Baldwin. Two players who i have not mentioned, Charlie Pegram and Will Greenidge, they were both everywhere, chased every ball and did exactly what they were asked to do, an excellent performance by both. But my MoM goes to Will. Apart from the yellow cards, including Daryl's , a really good game of football and another three points towards safety. Well done.Sat, 10 Oct 2026 19:04:49 +0000The image of a football team, as with any other enterprise, is with the image it portrays. The first team is the enitity that people respond to / identify with ,either negatively or positively. What goes on in the background, is important, youth teams etc. is of only moderate interest to most people. At the present time Slough are failing dismally in communicating, reinforcing and promoting the first team. I know that the demographics of the Slough population are not as naturally disposed to being football fans as previously. A succesful Slough team would go a long way to involving children of all persuasions and ensuring an enduring and long term support for the team. At moment the club seem to be going in the opposite direction being money orientated with only a superficial cosmetic/ interest in the community.Sat, 10 Oct 2026 18:20:34 +0000I would of imagined that all the players got a bollocking for their performance towards the end of the Torquay game, but Horsham would of got a bollocking as well getting that result at home against Maidstone. I have some nice photos of the town, and also a nice one of the free toiletries bag that the nice people at the Premier Inn gave me after I got stranded overnight in Woking on the way home. Nice! If you’re gonna throw yourself under a train, can you not do it when the Chins are playing please. It was a pretty high scoring week in the prediction league, helped by a shoe-in win for England. Though slightly disappointing that none of us showed enough faith in the boys to get the 0-7 score right. And talking of lack of faith, here is the current table of prediction managers who have chosen to back against the Chins this season so far. Make of this what you will, but none of them has ever won the league! In other news, the disciplinary committee has had to deduct a point from Pat after his second offence under Rule 5. The committee works hard with managers to keep them on the straight and narrow, but you can only go so far. Next offence will be a 2 point deduction. Which the boys certainly delivered last night against the inappropriately named Shots. Oh, and I’ve been rather busy. The Prediction League threw up some great results this week, the most notable being that we FINALLY had a 1-0 win. The first in around 3000 matches played. So well done to our history makers Sir Colin and Paul C. The certificate is in the post. And incredibly we also had a 2-0 win for Blackballed over Ozz. Goodness me, what a week of utter incompetence. In other news, I grind on relentlessly at the top (but then again I do “calculate” the scores), and Luke finally fluked a win. Down in Division 2 Mick The Bat lost his 100% record to Lord Upminster who draws level on points. But both have been pipped for top spot by our surprising new leader Fat Tom on goals scored. JagoWed, 30 Sep 2026 10:29:24 +0000What a really good game of football. After a string of challenging results we needed a lift and boy did we win. Aldershot had a great 10-15 spell in the first half with some excellent possession, quick passing and probing play, thankfully nothing to show for it. After that I felt we dominated the game had a number of good chances before Dom put one away from a difficult angle. Full control and with minutes left of the half Aldershot break down the wing pull the ball back to the edge of the box and bury it in the net. totally against the run of play in my opinion and we headed into half time all square. Thankfully no subs at half time and the exhibition from aron Rowe, Dom Poleon and George Alexander was text book, beautiful interactive play, holding the ball up and caused no end on opportunities, before the pressure paid off and we regain the led from some woeful mistake from the keeper and George Alexander tucked it into the net. We then controlled the game until the end, although we need to learn the rules as we were penalised for taking too long for our subs and had players waiting on the side lines. Difficult to give a MoM as I felt the team played excellent and I know who would be my starting eleven on Saturday, I would not change a thing! Well done!Tue, 29 Sep 2026 21:26:18 +0000Well yet another ex football league club bites the dust.I won't lie they were a good side just lacked that cutting edge in front of goal.We could have been 1 up in the first minute albeit a great save from their keeper.Well taken goal by Dom but you knew they were going to score well worked goal just before half time.Scruffy second goal for us but who cares. In between long periods without the ball we loved giving them the ball but got away with it.Massey my mom monster performance.up the UrchinsTue, 29 Sep 2026 21:23:49 +0000New signing. A free agent Central Midfielder with a decent pedigree, having played in League One as recently as 2022 and in the Championship with Wycombe before then. Unfortunately it seems he suffered a season-ending injury in 2022 and hasn't stayed anywhere long since, with brief stints in Portugal, Israel and Scotland before returning to England with a brief spell at Barnet. It’s a bit of fun with the aim of raising funds for the HFCSA plus you can win a monthly prize. How it works We’ve split the pitch into a 10 x 20 grid so we have 200 sections in total. Each section costs £20, with each sponsor: appearing on the website as one of the pitch sponsors appearing in every home matchday programme for 2026/27 being entered into a monthly draw to win a cash prize There is a dedicated Pitch Sponsorship page which provides more information on the process, the current pitch map of sponsors along with a list of prizes and prize winners. How to Sponsor Head over to our Box Office here to make a purchase. Click on the pitch image to reveal the individual sections. Sections with a Green seat are available. Sections with a grey seat are unavailable (either purchased or in someone’s basket) Click the Green seat inside the section you would like to purchase (it will turn yellow). Select the price (£20), add it to your basket and checkout Note: if you don’t want to select an area, just click the quantity dropdown, add to your basket and checkout. You will receive the next available sections Once purchased I'll amend the pitch map and update the Pitch Sponsorship page. As it's manually updated, if anyone would prefer a name other than their Box Office account name then just let me know and I can add this to the pitch map instead. Cash Prize Pool The monthly prize, drawn at the end of each month, will be 2% (or 4% in December and April) of the amount raised to date. If all sections are sold prior to September’s draw then there will be 6 monthly prizes of £80 and 2 monthly prizes of £160. Prizes and winners will be detailed on the Pitch Sponsorship page. The draw will consist of a randomly selected section of the pitch. If the winning section hasn’t been sponsored then we will re-draw until we have a winner. Quite a bit of Worthing pressure followed , particularly from their right but Hornchurch stayed in the game and it was more equal towards the end of the half. Second half, Hornchurch had the better of it (still a threat from Worthing though, they can pass the ball around and keep possssion effectively) but couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net - Josh Walker definitely made an impact when he came on. Think it was tight as the scoreline suggests but I think Arthur was probably the busier goalkeeper which probably tells where our problem lies at the moment.
