GROSVENOR PARK 0 vs WILLENHALL TOWN 1

On a pitch as smooth as a cheese grater and against a team with more aggression than Mike Tyson it was always going to be a tough stage for Willenhall to display their passing game, and so it proved.

Small, but quick and deadly striker Dunkley was rested and instead Quilt (back from a lengthy suspension) was brought in to add some muscle to the Reds.

Just 8 minutes into the game and the Reds should have been in the lead when Quilt jumped in on a defensive error and with an open goal at his disposal he poked the ball wide.

Willenhall continued to be on top but found the conditions tough, their next good chance game on 23 minutes when a Smith free kick saw Bullimore go just wide, then 10 minutes later another Smith free kick saw Quilt go just wide of the far post.

A minute into added time and a Moseley corner was headed goalwards by Jackson only for the fingertips of keeper Rowe to push the ball just over the bar.

Six minutes into the second half it looked like it wasn't going to be the Reds day, after the ref had let several over the top challenges go, he declined a blatant handball penalty appeal.

The break through eventually came on 64 minutes when a Smith freekick was headed back across the goal by Quilt for Bullimore to head home.

The Red's keeper Vaughan had an easy day of it as some poor finishing by Grosvenor meant he didn't have a single on target effort to save. Things will be very different on Tuesday when Willenhall visit league leaders Stourbridge.
