STOURBRIDGE 1 vs WILLENHALL TOWN 1

Willenhall will be kicking themselves after failing to turn possession into goals and allowing Stourbridge to grab a goal with basically their only on target effort.

 

Stourbridge played anything like league leaders, and nearly fell behind after just 3 minutes when a Smith cross grazed the wrong side of the roof of the net.

 

With both teams battling it came as a surprise that neither keeper was seriously troubled, Willenhall having the better of the chances. On 35 minutes Bullimore headed just over following a Smith cross. Then just before half time a Smith free kick went narrowly wide.

 

Less than 2 minutes into the second half Willenhall conceded a soft corner and from the corner, an awesome header by Eccleston bulged the net. The reminder of the second half produced little clear cut chances, and it was left to the ref to spice up the game right at the end. With just 3 minutes remaining and with the visitors applying some pressure, the ref declined a blatant looking hand ball in the area.

Willenhall have a free weekend this Saturday due to Oadby's FA Vase semi final second leg game, and then visit Cradley on 5th April.
