latest rainham sightings

December 26th as follows :-88 barnacle geese,adult med gull,green sandpiper,tufted duck 3m 1 f,3m 2f pochard,23 pintail,600 teal,2 little egret,1200 lapwing,6 snipe,48golden plover,2 kingfisher,water pipit

 

December 27th:-barnacle geese(88),grey plover,golden plover,snipe,pintail,400 black tailed godwit,curlew,bearded tits(2),greylag geese,canada geese,golden plover,lapwing,sparrowhawk,kestrel,pochard

 

December 28th:-88 barnacle geese,golden plover,lapwing,black tailed godwit,lapwing,pr peregrine,wigeon,kingfisher,3 short eared owls

i don't know,these were reported on the ELBF (east london birders forum),they are not my reports as i haven't been out for a few days,i should of put that up there.

I should imagine they are on the scrape as you walk round to the right of the reserve,just past the hide.

I have rarely seen any there - the ones I have seen are all close to where the red backed shrike was found, on the bank of the little muddy bay.

 

Main attraction at the moment is the hundreds (thousands?) of wigeon.

 

If you go into the woodland area, I had a very small bird there, it was on the ground, much smaller than dunnock - my only guess is goldcrest - seemd too small for a wren - but I did not see the head markings, and it did not call.
