Dartmoor

Recommended Posts

Not the ideal time as there was thick fog.

Not a bird watching holiday but quite a few none the less.

Bright blue sky, temp one degree, Eden Project, and sailing over the clay mines comes a buzzard, followed by another, and another - fourteen in all, soaring on the thermals. Below speed two peregrins, and another raptor glides by, a harrier.

A wall creeper, amazing, except that it was inside the Eden Project.

On to Dartmoor - thick fog - no ravens, but lots of crows, rooks and jackdaws, large herds of chaffinches in the trees near to Dartmeet, plus nuthatches (two), blue tits, great tits, and one coal tit, sparrows, dunnocks, then in the tree, a black redstart, magpie, starling, pied wagtail, wood pigeon, blackbird.

On to the prison - gaol birds, or, to use their English name, jail birds.

On to Looe - lbb, gbb, common, bh and herring gulls, with one other on the mud - jackdaws again.

On to Torpoint - curlew, green and wood sandpiper, mallard, shoveler, great crested and little grebe, redshank, dunlin.

There were others, but I did not keep a list.
