More clubs linked with the ESL...

Recommended Posts

Brantham Athletic from near Manningtree in Essex - top of the Suffolk and Ipswich League, not presently members of the Essex FA - no idea of ground status.

Brightlingsea Regent (not United as in the report but formerly United and members of the ESL) whose ground is or is very close to senior status. However the club is not step 7 status according to the latest ECFA handbook. Currently 2nd in the Essex & Suffolk Premier league at the moment but little hope of overcoming Gas Recreation and could well be overtaken for 2nd and 3rd places by other clubs with many games in hand.

However Mauritius (CMB) who became Mauritius Sports were 2nd from bottom of the Middlesex Premier last season and affiliated to the London FA, so anything is possible. grin

Brantham have got the green light for the Ridgeons League - where they were former members. So I doubt they will struggle to get into the ESL. Floodlights, nice sized stand etc.

Brightlingsea is a very tidy ground, nice pitch and a former Ridgeons League and ESL ground with floodlights, both would be great to have in the league IMO.

So who is going to be in the ESL next year? (assume Enfield are promoted?)

Barkingside

Concord Rangers

Eton Manor

Romford

Bowers & Pitsea

Southend Manor

Burnham Ramblers

Barking

Stansted

Clapton

Mauritius Sports & Pennant

Sawbridgeworth Town

Hullbridge Sports

Beaumont Athletic

Basildon United

London APSA

plus Leyton, Ilford (although unlikely due to Leyton), Takeley, Brantham Athletic, Brightlingsea Regent, Wivenhoe?

That would potentially mean the ESL have 22 teams for probably the first time ever!!!
