Pat - the intention is that there would be a printed version to be sold locally and to MyFC members who want to subscribe to a printed copy. We are trying to keep the costs as low as possible. We are hoping that MyFC members and long-standing EUFC fans will write articles, provide photos etc. We are also hoping to utilise volunteers for the editorial and production work (any posters on here are more than welcome to participate). There will also be an online version (which will cost practically nothing to produce) to allow for access via the web and we are looking at doing smaller versions in different languages for overseas MyFC members. One aspect that I think offers a lot of potential is a kids pull-out section. If we can secure sponsorship to cover the cost we will do a larger print-run and distribute it free to local schools. We are also looking at the possibility of building an online centre for kids where they can play games (Stacy Long taking free kicks instead of Steven Gerrard) etc. In terms of communication - I believe it can play an important role. Within MyFC it can help those who don't log-on everyday to keep up to date without having to wade through pages of threads. For those locally who are not members it can provide an insight into what MyFC is doing and how it is doing it. I would suggest that we need to think bigger in terms of advertising in order to exploit the global reach of MyFC. We have an opportunity to capitalise on 30,000 members all over the world by developing advertising packages for global companies. This includes pitchside advertising to utilise the TV coverage on MyFC, magazine advertising, programme advertising (with a new online version of the programme), website advertising etc. I was checking today and the MyFC website has more hits than half the Premiership teams and every other club in the UK with the except of Rangers and Celtic. If we do this job right we can generate significant extra revenue from advertising over and above what the club normally has. I see after spitting out his dummy, the WE-WE man is back! Out of interest Dom, where do you find out those kinda figures? And do you have a list??
rvr 0
PatMan, You can do a search through - http://www.alexa.com/ - which I believe is how some people have arrived at their numbers. It isn't the most reliable tracker, but it is close enough to give you an idea. rvr
rvr 0
From Alexa.com... I picked MyFC, ManU, Aston Villa, West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur's sites for traffic hits/rank. Link to results Just from this, I'd like to known, as a MyFC member, where they got their numbers from... rvr
Yorkfox 0
"Talking of speculation - did the Grassroots football stand thing go ahead?" The whole thing was a bit last minute to get organised so it was dropped . I would hope that something like this and the carnival would be talked of much earlier next year, then the idea might have a chance.
PatMan 0
rvr - those alexa figures are not so easy to work out... I guess MyFC have an advantage as there is only ONE site for everything, so this increases the number of 'hits'... Plus, you have a very active board so each post should register as a hit, plus each time a viewer hits refresh, does that count? I wonder how alexa calculate them? Just had a quick play with the graph you posted rvr - and the way I read it, MyFC are a LONG way under the four teams you compared... Occasionally climbing above WHU, but mostly below all the others. Yep - MyFC is well below the big four the big two in Scotland and clubs like Spurs and Villa - but has a lot more hits than several premiership clubs - in on a par with others and is well above anything from the Championship down. I was looking at it purely in terms of potential for advertising on the website, online magazine and online programme.
PatMan 0
Dom, where do you get the Championship figures? Finding it hard to find these out, as they nearly all are part of the 'premiumtv' brand which alexa just lumps together...
doheochai 0
Pat, if you open the premium tv window you can get the actual address of the clubs homepage e.g. Stoke City premium tv page http://www.stokecityfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Welcome Then it says on the top right 'click to enter stokecityfc.com' If you type stokecityfc.com into alexa it will give the details for the stoke city home page. I tried it with Stoke, WBA, Wolves, Watford and Crystal Palace and different numbers came up for each (so I am assuming I got the homepage info).

I agree, PatMan, that Alexa is a bit hard to read, but it is one site where you can do a comparison to double check. I've used it (here in the U.S.) many times to double check some sites' accuracy. Dom, Where did MyFC get the numbers and figures about hits above some Premiership and CC Championship clubs? Or, to be more specific, who provided them? rvr

PatMan 0
Am sure this has been said before...
