FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round Replay

Concord Rangers 6 Romford FC 0

Romford pressed their own destruction button when they had three players sent off in this FA Cup replay. As early as the 2nd minute Romfords James Gammons received a straight red card from referee Tony Mason for a head butt on Concord captain Nicky Cowley. In a game that was not particulary physical Concords Paul Kear was cautioned.

In the 29th minute Concord made the breakthrough when Joe Sweeney collected a loose ball just inside Romfords penalty area and neatly placed a shot round Romford keeper Danny Mulrooney. A minute later Romfords captain, Paul White was sent off for swearing. Concord went into the half time break 1 - 0 in front.

At half time Concords Joint Managers Danny Scopes and Danny Cowley brought on substitute Jack Carlile for Paul Kear who had been cautioned earlier and was sailing close to the wind with a couple of rash tackles.

In the 52nd minute Romford conceded a penalty and Danny Heale stepped up to take the kick and planted the ball into the corner of the net. 13 minutes later Lyle Taylor replaced Joe Sweeney and Michael Begg came on for Yohance Lewis.

After 70 minutes Romford had a third player sent off when Richard Oxby picked up a second yellow for tripping Lyle Taylor after he had pushed the ball round Oxby and was making his way down the left flank, three minutes later Lyle Taylor made Romford pay for the lack of players left on the pitch when he scored Concords third with a left foot effort.

Three goals soon followed when Jack Carlile, Danny Heale and Nicky Cowley all scored to make the score 6 - 0.

We now have a tough FA Cup 2nd Qualifying round encounter with Slough Town on the 26th September at their Holloway Park Ground in Beaconfield.
