Next Season

I noticed Andy was quoted in last weeks Gravesend Reporter that there may be some surprizes in terms of signings for next season...............?

The way its going it looks like the biggest surprize may well be if we sign anyone with Conference experience!

Four signings so far:

Lee Turner - played in the Conference with Margate
Robin Trott - played in the Conference with Welling and Stevenage
James Pinnock - played in the league with Gillingham and Conference with Dover.
Anthony Hogg - played in the Conference with Dover.

Remember when we started last season only Paul Wilkerson and Jimmy Strouts had any real Conference experience, so it may not be the most imprtant thing. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I like the signing of Pinnock...Did Bill Williams sign him for Kingstonian for a big fee??? I just wonder where Andy will play him as even with the departure of Jacko and Bentley, we're not short of midfield playmakers, what with Rob and Louis, Tostao etc etc.

Starting to feel a lot more hopeful now that the Duke has signed. Everything seems to be dropping into place, and with a tiny little bit of luck regarding injuries and referees we should improve on last term. Let us try also try to cut out any stupid suspensions next year, they really do hurt, and they also prevent Andy picking a consistent side.
Good luck to Jamie, you deserve 1st team football, and a big thank you for being so supportive of Wilkers all the time he was keeping you out of the team. Jamie's attitude was a credit to himself .

Andy mentioned Thursday night that he'd spoken to 2 more players that day and was seeing another 2 today. He wants to make his other signings "quality" signings.

It seems, however, that all the players concerned are being courted by other clubs and, as usual, we are struggling to compete financially (Andy said we're about £2000 per week in total wage bill, below the highest payers).

Still, it felt positive at the launch of the Supporters Trust & in the region of 150 or so fans turned out, with a fair sum of money being promised on the night. All the more important now that others join in and also set aside cash to help Andy compete.

yeah, I thought it was a very upbeat meeting, and I know that the 70 odd grand a year seems like a lot, but if 300 people all did a direct debit of £5 a week (£20 a month), that would more or less cover it
