Bring on the Hendon!

Recommended Posts

Its the Middlesex Super Cup Final 2002 all over again this Saturday in the new Brimobeu. First team to grace the new Brimobeu against the Town. (In the real 2003 Super Cup Final I think Hendon have Northwood).

It would be nice to beat Hendon but lets not get our hopes up (after the Bishops Stortford spanking)?

Come on Hendon Boy where are you, we're proud of all the building work and would like to show you our changing ground?

Must be 5 years since Hendon Came to Enfield for a game. Anyone remember the last Southbury Road game against Hendon? What was the score - Who scored? <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The 2003 Middlesex Super Cup was played at the end of last season. It was Feltham, not Northwood, and they beat Hendon!

Last time Hendon visited Southbury Road was on Saturday 4th September 1999. Final score 5-3 to Enfield (4-2 at half time). Scorers Bunn 2, Cooper, Jones, Southgate for Enfield, Watson, McKoy, Gentle (don't know which one) for Hendon. I seem to recall that Hendon's keeper, Gary McCann, went off injured early in the game. Attendance 467. It was the second from last league game at Southbury Road. Enfield beat Basingstoke in the last-ever the following Saturday and were top of the Ryman Prem, undefeated after 9 games.

Ironically, Enfield's next 'home' league game after that was at Hendon, on Saturday 9th October, when they beat Walton & Hersham 4-1. Bunn, Rattray, Dunwell and Cooper were the scorers. The attendance was a pathetic 214 - proving that ground-sharing really did turn the fans away!

EFC have been playing to poor crowds ever since.

So a gap of almost 4 years. Thanks Ginge!

Brilliant news Colin. What is it with you and Hendon games. Last time I saw you was at the Hendon game at their ground.

Why was the Super Cup played at the end of last season? OR is that when it should be played?

We beat Feltham last season on their own ground so theres hope for Saturday? OK crap logic but it makes me feel good.
