Is this for real?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine has just contacted me, and informed me of a vocal protest at the next home game. There is also an email that has been forwarded to me which says the following:

"The protest/demonstration will commence at 14.00hrs on 23/08/03 for the Telford match, outside the stadium and then vocally within the stadium. Local media have been contacted and alerted to the activity. Please feel free to attend with any signs or placards which may highlight our plight"

Is for real? Has anyone else heard about this?

I for one will join this protest, in the hope of stopping the rot

before the clubs conference journey comes to an abrupt end so early on in the

season. Andy Fords had a good few months to try & test out new

strategies/formations, etc, yet the buffoon preceeds to do so when the

season starts...I question his mangerial ability & will join lend my support

for the outing of incompetent Ford

What a load of C***

We have the best set of supporters in the league, if somewhat frustrated at times, but certainly would never fall to that level!! i will be singing with the Good fleet loyal fans to keep Andy and the lads going this season, not getting on their backs.... Remember the disaterous run last year of bad games!! well then,,, we arent even half way through how bad we can be before we need to put together a good run!!! We only need 3 wins out of the next three to be average and weve lost each game by only 1 goal.... Luck and finishing on our side and we could easily have had 5 points so far......

Dont give up... and certainly dont protest you will make very large prats of yourselves........

I do not think many "true" supporters will be participating in a protest on Saturday. Surely the worst thing you can do before the match is to behave in such a manner unless you want to ensure that the players lose any self confidence which they may have left. I would suggest that this will be a good way to lose us any chance of three points. As a supporter of thirty years, I cannot believe that we have people who think they will achieve anything positive by this apart from possibly inciting unpleasantness.

I'm a relatively new boy to the Fleet and have only ever known the 'Andy Ford days' which, I must say, have been rather good. Yes, we are struggling a bit at the moment but standing outside screaming for Andy's head is NOT the way forward. Try encouragement, it seems to work a lot better.

I too have followed the Fleet for many years and whilst I have moved away, still travel to as many away games as is possible. With the odd home game when visting family and friends in Kent. I will be at the game on Saturday and will be horriified if a number of small minded individuals decide to show their feelings in this manner and attempt to spoil one of my pilgrimages to Stonebridge Road. It is only too often that so called supporters turn when things are not going the way they want. What Andy and the lads need at this moment in time is full unquestioned support the like as shown by the travelling faithful at Halifax. I am sure that things will get better.

Couldn't agree more Yorkshire - the last thing the club needs is Carlos the [***!!***] and a few of his mates stirring it up when the rest of us would rather see Andy, Brian and the players concentrate on turning it round. Let's get behind the team on Saturday and give them some encouragement rather than getting on their backs.

Anyone who has supported the fleet for more than the last couple of seasons will have watched many worse sides than the current one....having said that moaning about the players/management is an old Gravesend tradition ( I spent all of my first visit to Stonebridge road joining in the Ackerman out chants)

If anyone wants to moan this Saturday can they please wait until 5:00

Lets get behind the team for the game. If we beat Telford we will climb off the bottom and hopefully kick- start our season, if we lose then you will probably find a lot more people joining in with the moaning.

Well that's your opinion.

Last season the club had the novelty of playing its first season in the Conference to attract supporters to Stonebridge Road, and as a result attendance's stayed relatively healthy. This season that isn't the cause. A poor run of results to start with that run into October and then November and attendance's will fall dramatically. It's okay for you lot to wrap yourselves up in your pathetic little world wishing

the poor form disappears and miraculously we go on a run which takes us to the play-offs but be real it ain't going to happen - not with a squad of poor players and a hopeless manager.

Anybody who participates in this after 3 games of the season is, quite simply, a total [***!!***].

Excuse the terminology but I wanted to most something more severe really.

In your first comment you classed yourself as a worried fleet fan, yet in the second you make it obvious that you are planning to be one of the morons who participate.

Totally agree. We MUST get behind the team. They are not be blamed for the formation, or for being played out of position, or the crap set pieces we appear to cunjure up on a regular basis. Nor can they be blamed for the failure to resolve the long standing striker problem. Can you imagine how our defence and midfield must have felt last Saturday ? They held out magnificently for 84 minutes and every time the ball was cleared it came back to them. There is only so much they can do.

Until we play with a settled system with 'strikers', results will not improve. I am seriously concerned our manager will be panicked into

signing any old Dobbin or Muffin he can persuade to come to the Club at great expense. Remember Lenny 'the manace' Dennis and 'Abbo'.

Please please please NO expensive over-rated 'has beens'.

If Mr Ford cannot put out a team due budget restraints, or because players see our Club as no hopers, then let someone else try.

Protests at the ground ? What a load of bo**ocks! For a start, if Andy goes who would replace him?? Who would put as much time, effort and commitment into the club while still doing the job on a part time basis?? Who would come in and wave a magic wand and suddenly be able to sign players that Andy can't?? And I suppose with a new Manager we would suddenly be able to afford their wages!!! What a futile load of crap. A lot of people are concerned. Who wouldn't be. But this kind of reaction will only serve to damage the club at a time when the players and the manager need and deserve our loyal support.

COME ON YOU REDS

Carlos you are an idiot you obviously did not support this club when things were really bad the team is good enough to stay in the conference if we can get a striker the last thing we want to do is sack the manager as this will result in at least another 3 or 4 games without results or leadership the best thing to do is support your team, your manager and your board of directors who have got the club back to the conference and will keep us there.
