mascot (do you want one??)

As long as it's some sea-faring theme, I think we'll be fine.

Let's keep away from anything to do with the black death, because firstly, no one will get it, and secondly, Gravesend has nothing to do with it. The name Gravesend originated in the 11th century, long before the plague (this is more apt for the trivia thread lol)

Shrimps are fine, as would be a sailor or pirate. I was recently in Margate, and would reccomend some form of cess-pit costume for them, as the place is truly a hole.

A mascot would be great, especially to boost morale, but let's not just go for anything!

Oh, and someone mentioned that I seemed to be on here late at night, and asked if I was an air traffic controller.

I will just say that no, I'm not, and there's nothing else to do at 4am than to whitter on in here.

If I get 3 hours of sleep a night, I'm thankful, and the last person you want in charge of air traffic control is me lol.

Peace, and GO FLEET!!!!!

I voete for a pirate - then we can incorporate the skull & cross bones into our merchandising rather like the Oakland Raiders, the Millwall of the NFL - no one likes them, they don't care. We can also adopt a Captain Pugwash type name - you know, Roger the Cabin Boy,Seaman Staines etc. Perhaps he should be called Randy The Pirate or something similar.

Prefer the pirate theme but thought the Shrimp was v.funny.

How about a Duck (I'm thinking a DRAKE specifically) with an eye patch perhaps???

Sir Francis was a great pirate and lead an effective and victorious 'FLEET' !!!!

THAT'S IT!!!! Suky the Shrimp!!!! Faaaaantastic!!!

It's just irrestistable, isn't it!?!

Bumped into Sammy Seashell in the pub after the game, and he is well interested in maybe sponsoring ' Suky' .

He was on about supplying a couple of cartons of whelks, cockles & Mussels for Suky to throw to the crowd during half time, if the mascot was up for it ?
