Mangotsfield -v- North Leigh

Rother

Recommended Posts

Nothing to do with us but as nothing much is happening on the forum these days (where HAS everyone gone?) thought I'd post it up as an interesting / entertaining little bit of news.

In the game at Mangotsfield on Saturday the final score was the same as it was after 10 minutes - nothing particularly unusual you might think, but the scoreline after 10 minutes was 3-3!!!

Mangotsfield scored on 3,4 & 9 minutes, and North Leight scored on 7,8 & 10.

Have we ever had any similar goal deluges at W&E?

Two incidents spring to mind, both at the end of the match, one for and on against. First against Woking in the FA Cup when we were the bigger side, 3-0 up with nine minutes to go, let in 3 in normal time and lost 6-3 in extra time, but more impressively 4-1 down to Folkestone Invicta with 11 minutes to go and won 5-4 in normal time, then bet a hasty retreat as 200 angry dockers expressed their feelings at the quality of refereeing and their team's performance. Highlight being Kevin Hill, dragged out of retirement, scoring to secure a magical night in a cup replay!!!

Cheers Fuzzy. Postie has certainly told me about the Woking game before now I come to think about it!

Thing is, that game would never have happend had Kevin Mitchell not saved a penalty in the 90th minute at home on the Saturday at 1-1, then we wouldn't have had the indiginty of losing a 3 goal lead in the replay. he took Biggins off at 3-0 and the team fell apart. Did the same thing a week or so later when we were 2-0 up in a league game and we lost 3-2. Some managers never learn......
