Worst substitution of all time...

Recommended Posts

Oxlade-chamberlain sets up Van P for the Gooners leveler. Then is involved in 3 other attacking moves and Arsenal are looking like they will go on to win. The professor then makes the worst change in the history of football. brings on an under performing, disinterested Arshavin for the youngster. Arsenal loose all momentum and Arsharvins only contribution was to be left for dead fot Utds winner.

Time to go Wenger.....

I'll raise you...Walter Boyd of Swansea City came on as a sub against Darlington about ten years ago, elbowed a Darlo player in the face before the ref had blown to re-start the game, and got sent off before play commenced. Therefore, officially, Boyd was sent off zero seconds after coming on.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott are both players who seem to be high on the list when Wenger wants to bring a big-money sub on. Contrast that with how Harry Redknapp values Gareth Bale's contribution with people like Pav-chenko sitting on the bench.

Credit to all 3 British players who, coincidentally, served their apprenticeships and were schooled in how to conduct themselves at a certain south coast club.

The conveyor belt is working nicely - look out for names like Adam Lallana, James Ward-Prowse, Morgan Schneiderlin and Steve de Ridder coming to your favourite Premiership club soon. Hopefully without having to leave their current team.

AC - yes, definitely.

You forgot Brian O'Neill whose sublime tackling lead the late great Bill Shankly to name that team as "Ale-house footballers". Long before we enjoyed the silky skills of Joe Jordan, Jim Steele and Jim McCalliog of course.

Never understood why anyone wouldn't appreciate an ale house.
