Canvey's sunday switch

Having read the echo lat night, I must agree with Kingy, the world has gone mad when an 4th Qual FA Cup tie between Mangotsfield and Canvey needs to be played on a Sunday because of crowd stewarding problems.

 

No disrespect to either side but it is not a massive massive match. I would imagine it would be lucky to attract more than 900 or so.

 

Surley a dozen committee members could sort that out. Canvey have no real histroy of supporter trouble so whats all the fuss.

 

Back in our old Southern League days, Romford played in front of crowds of this side both home and away on a regular basis, hardly a steward in site. In them days you had man eating Barnet and Chelmsford supporters to deal with.

The season we won the Trophy it was the FA Cup game against Sarfend at Park Lane being switched to Roots Hall.

The season after that, it was the FA Trophy game at Yeovil being switched to a weeknight cause Yeovil couldn't get their previous tie played on their bog.

Last season it was once again the FA Trophy tie at Northwich Victoria having the tie BROUGHT FORWARD to Friday night equalling less travelling fans in near arctic weather conditions...

 

This season the Ryman League Officials jumped on the bandwagon by trying to get us travelling to Kettering on a Tuesday night but we got it sorted so the next best thing was another Cup game of course!!
