evening all,

I do not wish to reveal my real name but I have supported hornchurch for few years. I firstly want to congratulate colin, ken, tony and everyone else at the club for achieving promotion to the conference south. It is a truly remarkable achievement considering the dire state the club was in a couple of seasons ago.

I am just wondering what is going on with sponsorship for next season. I have looked at other clubs and they are announcing sponsorship packages while we have not. I appreciate that we only found out what league we are in last week but I believe we need to get potential sponsorship in place for the upcoming season as we can potentially be £15,000 up! I feel strongly we need have sponsorship packages on the website and in the local press to attract local businesses to our beloved club.

I have a few ideas that the club could advertise. Firstly the basics with prices;

+ Website Sponsorship

+ Programme Sponsorship (Full Page, 1/2 Page, 1/4 Page) - Whole season or 1 game

+ Advertising Hoardings Package

+ Shirt Sponsorship

I have also thought of other ways of potential sponsorship

+ Stand sponsorship (hoardings on the back of the stand)

+ Matchday sponsorship (e.g. £100/game)

+ Burger Bar sponsorship?

In return for sponsorship, we reserve a block of seats for sponsors. For example, the seating on the eastside is in blocks. The club could reserve a block (perhaps the block nearest to the directors box) for sponsors only who get access to the boardroom on matchdays. This could show we look after our sponsors

So there's my thoughts. I appreciate your time

A very well drafted post.

Now we have got promotion I would imagine someone within the club has / or will be tasked with taking advantage of the commercial opportunities the Blue Square Conference with its greater remit has to offer.

The ideas listed are not radical or in fact novel but I would imagine that the problem up to now has been the lack of commercial expertise and knowhow for a club of our size and stature.

All the splendid effort over the last few years has been concentrated in survival, turning things around, so the club achieving promotion is a remarkable feat.

Being a well run club has enabled us to perform on the pitch and punch above our weight. In my opinion if we are to prosper in the conference south set up we will need to be very much more commercially astute and perform above our weight off the pitch.

Better than Torres on the pitch, slicker than Richard Branson in the commercial market place.

Agree, when you see some of the websites info etc and some announcing sponsorship already you realise what a big step up this is.

It's completely different to last time.We are playing with the big boys now and the sooner these things are advertised the better IMO

This is the sort of thing that could be put on website and twitter,a tweet stating that sponsorship is being looked for could be tweeted and re tweeted and within 30 mins could be seen by thousands of people

No criticism to afchfan whose post shows he really cares about our Club but Colin, Jimmy and their team have been involved in football for a very long time and I am sure they know what is required to secure the maximum sponsorship for the Club. The following link is to our 2008 website where most, if not all, of afchfan's ideas are mentioned.

Agreed,I think I heard someone mention that we had a commercial person in place.

I think Afchfan whoever they are, maybe looked at the fact we didn't have a sponsor last season and if the same was to happen this season then it would severely hamper us.

With regards to sponsorship, how about an open auction for the shirt sponsorship

When speaking to the club last week I think they mentioned that it was £400 for an advertising board and a quarter page in the programme. This is the sort of stuff that needs to be on the website when it's updated

Potentially yes but £400 for a years advertising isn't bad in all honesty, especially if you throw in the programme advertising too.

We are in a much stronger point sellingwise though for sponsorship, higher league, possible higher cup runs etc

I'm no marketing expert either so this could be rubbish as well.

I would assume that the fixed costs of producing the boards would be the same so you might lose out.

Think you would need to try to maximise the overall margin, so getting the price right is important (say £250 for a full stadium)

Certainly look better to have the whole stadium covered though.

Saying that, times are hard for business'

This time last year I said I would get a board but once I had paid for my other advertising the cost was just a bit too much for me but then I was just starting up

This year I am considering it but once again I have already spent a bit on advertising,if it was £200 I would do it straight away,£400 requires a bit more though but I am still a new business,I think £400 represents good value though IMO

I thought I heard £400 for the board

Hx o,think we ought to wait to see what players are definitely signed on before people commit to sponsorship

Maybe an idea with sponsorship this season is to auction each spot.Starting at the usual price and for those more popular seeing how much we can get for them.

I've mentioned this on another thread but saw this and thought it crosses over.

I have no idea about running a club and sponsorship and all that comes with it but how about using a local brewery. Real Ale is definatly on the rise after a couple of decade slump and is one of the only food and drink types making a profit at the moment. Maybe getting a hand pump in the clubhouse and bringing in a brewery to supply us is an idea. Something that might benefit the club and the brewery with profits and advertisement. I know we sell bottle ale but i think hand pump keg beer is bettter quality and a bit cheaper with a higher gross profit. I know looking after kegs can be a nuisance and with us only using the clubhouse only once or twice a week we may lose a bit of beer but im sure we could look into it and sort it out.

Just another idea

As per my comment on the other thread, if you (or any other supporter) has any contacts regarding sponsorship then please don't be shy and contact the club direct (01708 220080) - they need all the help they can get.

have also thought about Lakeside (Thurrocks old sponsor)

or, erm....

The Mall (Romford)

What about Eddie Stobarts? Big named company who have bought into Southend Airport.

Think they would be worth contacting just to see if sponsoring a football club would interest them.

They would get to see their name up and down the country on the front of the shirts.

PLAYER SPONSORSHIP for this season will be £70 per player.

Please contact Tony Middleton or Jay Middleton in the club shop if you want to sponsor a player.

If you intend to sponsor the same player as you did last season, please contact Tony or Jay at afchtm@hotmail.co.uk or phone 07791 382 247. Alternatively call in at the club shop prior to the start of the Boreham Wood match.

If you want to pay by cheque, it should be made out to AFC Hornchurch.

      Hi,

I am thinking of placing some information to the right of the main forum - i.e. http://www.nonleague.co.uk/forum/31-afc-hornchurch/ - not at topic level though

With screens getting larger it gives us more space to play with.

As part of this, I was thinking about offering advertising space to anyone who wishes to advertise there, with any profit going to the club - the only deduction would be the PayPal fee to take the payment.

These adverts would only appear on the HX forum though, so would be targeted benefiting advertisers.

The cost would be worked out on a number of impressions, click rate or just period of time.

In addition to the adverts, I would probably include items such as a mini table, fixtures, results etc.

      Would welcome any thoughts?

      Thanks.
