What is the Solution? (Guernsey fixtures)

Smudge

Recommended Posts

With the terrible weather we have been having and Guernseys great run in the F.A Vase which we all hope will continue in the next round against Erith and Belverdere. That will mean that 6 Saturday HOME games will need to be rearranged, they are also still in the Premier Cup,so god forbid they get a Home draw in that, which will only worsen the problem further. My concern regarding this,is when will the League rearrange these games.if it is to be midweek so be it,they have already rearranged Croydons HOME game from the 8th December to February 23rd,likewise Colliers Wood HOME game to 19th Jan?this helps Guernsey plan their travel plans. So what plans have the CCL made for CCL teams travelling midweek to Guernsey, likewise 3 OFFICIALS.The earlier notice Clubs,Players,Officials, get the easier it is for all to plan,we all know that Guernsey midweek will mean a 2 days minimum trip. How about Guernsey play Saturday/Sunday,orSaturday/Monday,have you any views.

I think that is the best idea NLN As teams going over there mid week is to much to Ask teams at this level to do. Come on league sort this out soon

Not possible they Groundshare with the egg chasers, unless of course they strike a deal with Belgrave Wanderers to use their facilities on alternate weekends, and play all their away games midweek. That way could be a solution, with League approval.

Surely if teams have to travel away mid week then so be it. Yes it is a long way to travel but is it really too much to ask teams at this level to to do this?? If clubs have this mindset then they cannot complain as they voted to have guernsey in the league !!!

Absolute rubbish!! You may be able to afford the day off work but I'm sure 99% of players "at this level" cannot. Think again, NLN has spoke sense.

It might sound a simple & sensible solution until you look at the fixture schedule. There are only 3 Saturdays between now and the end of April where the Footes Lane pitch doesn't already have a scheduled Home CCL League game or scheduled Rugby match. Those dates are 16th March, 23rd March & 13th April. So there aren't enough Saturdays left to reschedule current outstanding fixtures on their normal home pitch. Is their another pitch available that could house their large home following & doesn't have Saturday fixtures already scheduled?

Play on a Sunday day or Friday night then if the grounds in use on some Saturdays

NLN seems a good shout

Just a suggestion, but midweek games for mainland sides it going to be a nightmare was there not nothing out in place when agreeing them in?

Agreed that midweek games are more difficult for mainland teams - there is a view on the Non League forum that very few Ryman or Southern League teams would agree to a midweek fixture so there will be other parties interested in how this is finally resolved. The Guernsey Press recently reported that the Club are in favour of Friday / Saturday or Friday / Sunday matches.

You cant expect clubs to go out there wih half strength sides mid week. I'm pretty sure this question popped up when they were making a bid to come in and everyone was told you were not expected to go there. Realistically it's a day off work as your have a half day on match day then need the following morning off. Guernsey are a special case and most of their bosses are probably season ticket holders and I expect a few off them can walk to work straight off the runway! Back home it's a good 20 min walk from the plane to customs at Gatwick !
