EPSOM & EWELL 2 ASHFORD 4

Recommended Posts

Well done to the lads for a hard fought away win, and your toughest test to-date which I must say you came through with flying colours, man of the match by a country mile was Dan Fleming, not only for his excellent taken hat-trick but also for his all round performance, glad to see you back Dan, well done to you.

Also well done to the ref for playing a good advantage after Mark Bitmead was sent flying just after he passed the ball to Dan to score his 2nd goal.

Not knocking here but why was Conor Moody on the bench? the difference he made with his surging runs, passing,  and tackling was a pleasure to watch, only for Conor to go and spoil it by getting himself sent off for a late tackle on Epsom & Ewell goalkeeper (50 - 50 both players went for it?)

The defence gave a solid display and showed how to keep your nerve when under tonnes of pressure, just like they were when the score went 2-3 and looked very likely to go  3-3

Jack Mullen do not worry about the own goal, it`s part and parcel of being a defender and your overall performance along with the rest of the defence was very good example of keeping your nerve.

Mark Bitmead another goal to add to your ever increasing tally.

Epsom & Ewell`s goalkeeper how good was he?

Beano, read or heard somewhere that in this division only the champions go up, is that correct?

if so Spelthorne Sports did us a huge favour by beating Cove 3-2.

Indeed, at this level of the pyramid only the champions go up and there are no play-offs. Molesey are another team to be wary off, but we're nicely up there on Cove's shoulder at the mo.

That's our first sending off this season. Compare that with the carnage at the start of the last campaign. Our discipline's improved as much as our confidence and quality of play.

IMHO, there are two teams that we have yet to play this season who will be in at the last knockings with us and (I would expect) Cove.

They are Molesey and Windsor, the latter who drew an attendance of over 200 at their home league game yesterday.

We obviously don't know if either Cove or Spelthorne are applying to go up but if not, and they ended up as champions and/or runners-up, then 2nd or 3rd placed teams can be considered.  It is fairly certain that the likes of Camberley, Molesey and Windsor will be applying but we will know after 30 November, which is the deadline for making application for promotion to Step 4.
