Scott Staniland has transferred to The Romans from league rivals Shepshed Dynamo after scoring thirteen goals in fifteen appearances for the Leicestershire side this season. A left-sided midfielder, the 21-year-old was in the youth-team at Borrowash Victoria when Romans boss Mark Wilson was manager there, and Wilson is delighted to bring him to Hillsfield He said: "Scott will bring us extra quality, he can play anywhere on the left and his addition will give us more balance and more options. "The quality of his dead-ball deliveries is excellent, and he has a terrific goals-to-games ratio at this level so he's a great signing for us." After announcing the signing of Staniland, The Romans a second player to Hillsfield in Ryan Baker. Baker has joined from East Midlands Counties outfit Borrowash Victoria. Baker, who turned 21 last week, is an attacking midfield player with good pace and an eye for goal, and will no doubt add an extra dimension to The Romans' strike force. As a youngster he spent time at the Academies of both Derby County and Nottingham Forest, and after a spell with Belper United he moved on to Borrowash Victoria two years ago. Wilson commented: "Ryan is another top signing for us, he's stepping up a league but I have no doubt he will be a success. "Although I've been aware of him as a player he actually contacted me and asked if he could join, he wants to step up a level and he has that desire inside to be successful."
