Nantwich Town assistant manager Neil Sorvel was delighted with how the team played against Halesowen Town as they secured a 3-0 win over the Midlands club to move up to 7th place in the league table.

Goals from Sean Cooke, Elliott Osborne from the penalty spot and one in the second half from Matt Bell sealed Nantwich’s win.

After the game Sorvel spoke about all three goals. He said: “For the first goal, it was a great team goal. A nice bit of movement with quality thrown into it. A nice ball from Matt Bell to start the move and a good finish from Cooke.

He has been getting close recently, he hit the bar last time out against Ilkeston FC but he is getting into good positions and he is capable of getting on the score sheet as he has shown today.”

“With the second goal, Elliott Osborne, he doesn’t miss penalties and with the nature of how England go out of major competitions then maybe he could be the man to score from the spot for England in France this summer!

He does well and is very consistent with his penalties. It is also a great time to score just before half time. So 2-0 at half time we had a great cushion going into the second half.”

“For the third goal, it’s not like Ben to be that far up the pitch. But if the space is there then we encourage our centre backs to step up. Ben had a little wander forward and he picked out Matt Bell who was cool and finished so we are pleased with that because Bell has another goal and gets in good positions more often than not. But we often don’t see him get into those places.”

The three goals for Nantwich scored on Saturday were Nantwich’s 95th goal in an excellent season and here’s hoping that the Dabbers get closer to the 100 mark on Tuesday night with Stourbridge visiting on Tuesday in the FA Trophy.

Sorvel said: “Tuesday will be a different game. 95 goals certainly shows our attacking intent this season and I think we were worthy 3-0 winners at the end of the day. Stourbridge are an excellent side so I’d take a win and 1-0, the amount of goals nowhere near as important as the result. I am expecting both teams to be very evenly matched.”

Sorvel also noted “On Saturday, the keeper pulled off three or four good saves and Kosylo put in a couple of good balls and our lads look like they should score. But they were just above the lads heads and they are stretching as none were easy chances.

However we are looking more like it after a difficult month for us but at the top of the pitch we are looking our normal self and it bodes well for the run in.”
