Best of luck to south SSML clubs in FA Cup. Berko v slough looks to be a great tie. Could be a big crowd there.

Big clash in Div 1.

My tip Winslow for the title taking on Enfield who have looked good attacking but quite vulnerable at the back.

I would have said the same about Winslow but with the addition of Paul Brown now I think they may have the edge!

Looks like a big game already this early but it is early. The Broadfields result showed that there is at time vulnerablility, it is as good a Winslow side as there has been for a long time. People feel positive but games come thick and fast in this division, it's very competitive and two or three games can suddenly change the complexion. Players have a habit of moving on often in this league, but Paul seems to have a loyal core of good players who want to play for him and are enjoying the support at the club. Enfield look a very strong and confident outfit to me and I'd make them favourites for this even at ours, first home league game, should be a decent crowd but quite a bit of pressure and expectation already now. Be very interesting to see how they handle it. I would take a draw, I'm sure Paul and the lads would disagree with me and will 100% want to be going for all 3. I think we are as good as anyone going forward, I think any game involving us will be entertaining this season. I think Enfield, Risborough, Buckingham Ath, Southall, London Lions and is should all be in the mix.

Here is a preview from the website.

Next week for vase I believe we are missing a few which is a shame, would love a good run in it.

They also got Ryan Freshwater back from Leighton a few weeks ago.

More to do with one particular muppet who is no longer there. I was pretty active when we were shit before, 10-2 away at Bedford, 9-1 Cockfosters, a few 6's v Benfica and plenty more.

I hope Berko win, good club and run very well. I don't think there will by over 500 there but it will be still a large gate for them. I hope I can get a parking space in the public carpark, as I am bowling this afternoon.

Always remember when we played Salisbury in the FA Vase. Put up our admission from £5 to £6 and the disparaging remarks from the  Berkhamsted officials in attendance. Kettle/Black comes to mind.

Forgot to say you'd expect Baldock and Brimsdown to be up there too. Strong division.

Winslow missing quite a few today. One injured in warm up sees Matt Cruise start and put Winslow 1 up. Paul Brown has left to going Aylesbury FC.

Miss placed pass in our box 1-1

4-2 down. Some poor defensive mistakes

2-5

Some poor defending clinically punished, Winslow missed some chances too. Enfield are very quick, good outfit. Think if you finish above them you'll win the league.

Late drama at Totternhoe. Pitstone ahead just after half time with the visitors equalising after about 65 mins. Very open game with lots of good chances.

92nd minute a far post header hits a Pitstone defenders arm. Lino (right side & good view) flags for a penalty referee decides a corner. After significant protests the corner is taken, half cleared & fired in from the edge of the box.

Still time for a late tackle & some handbags before the final whistle went

Totternhoe 2-1 Pitstone

They were by far the best team we played last year in terms of style of football. Some very good players.

One of the best days ever as a Berkhamsted fan and yes well worth the £9 entrance fee! :-)

Berkhamsted should have been winning after the opening 20 minutes and also a club record attendance figure of 366.

Did not disgrace themselves at all against opposition 2 divisions higher.

This result has shocked me.

We were not good enough today, few missing and a reshuffle after losing centre half in warm up, but regardless Enfield were the better side. Enfield were quick, played good football and took their chances. We gifted them goals and didn't take our chances. Enfield are a good side. Paul and Roni were raging with the lads after the game, they know they are better than today's performance. Enfield are the team to beat no doubt. Two cup games so quite a while before they can put it right in the league. I know there are more missing for Vase game (holidays, Work etc). Still think we will be right up there come the end of the season. Great turnout again today.

Every team at this level has 'a few missing' most weeks and have to deal with it. Winslow have a nice weekly budget so should be up there at the end of the year along with Southall.

No budget at Winslow at all that I am aware of (20 years involved as a player etc.. and related to current committee members and talk fairly reg with chairman), unless it's a secret benefactor nobody knows (if so that's great, but the gaffer and players et al are keeping it very quiet). We tried to cobble one last year but it stopped after about 6 weeks. Last time we had a 'budget' was when Perry had a good side and he was putting his hands in his own pocket which is pretty amazing. As it's a sports and social club, money made in the bar etc... goes to running the sports and social club not the football team if you see what I mean. Shame as most of the money generated is through football, it's been a bone of contention for years. Few of the committee memebers and supporters are putting in a few quid when they can to build a pot to put for end of season do.

Most teams as you say have players missing, and will see a bit of in and out. Teams that will do the best will be the ones that are 'missing a few' the least weeks and have the least coming in and out. We've had a revolving door for few years, hopefully it seems this squad will be pretty settled. I'm hopeful of a positive season, a lot of good teams will make for an interesting and enjoyable season.
