Hornby leaves Barrow

Neill Hornby will not be part of the Barrow AFC coaching set-up under new boss Ady Pennock.

Hornby has decided to leave Holker Street less than three weeks after he arrived as assistant to Micky Moore.

Moore was sacked four days after Hornby's appointment, and the 51-year-old found himself in caretaker charge for the matches against Ebbsfleet United and Chester – as well as Saturday's win over Aldershot, although Pennock had been installed by that point.

Hornby was contracted to AFC until the end of the season, but has decided he would rather return to his former job – he was a scout for Championship club Ipswich Town before joining the Bluebirds.

"Unfortunately, Neill has decided he is going to leave the club," said Pennock, who took a training session with Barrow for the first time on Tuesday. "He had a good job before and he's going to go back."
