Just to say that there really is a God and the groundhopping guy wasn't at The Orchard on Saturday for the British Airways FC v Amersham Town friendly that resulted in a 3-1 win for British Airways, he seems to have been following Amersham Town around quite a bit lately. The result was a disappointing one for Dwaine Bryan, and possibly excuses could be made for the size of the training pitch adjacent to The Orchard, however the truth was Amersham Town were given the runaround by their Combined Counties League Division One opponents following very positive results so far against Belstone, Colney Heath Reserves, Wingrave and Chalfont Wasps, the classy Paolo Deritis (pictured) netted Amersham Town's goal:

Who remembers the scandal of Fatty Arbuckle proportions involving Amersham Town back in the 2012/13 campaign when they played an ineligible player in an FA Vase Second Round proper tie against Rye United at Spratleys Meadow:

Amersham Town's impressive Covid-19 Risk Assessment document. Also the new Clubhouse is taking shape at Spratleys Meadow but still some way to go, I wonder where the Officials and players will be entertained this evening (Tuesday) for the game against Leverstock Green:

Sports Shots photographer Dale James was at Spratleys Meadow yesterday (Saturday 10 October) for the SSML Division One fixture with Stotfold and there are over 200 excellent photographs to enjoy. It's just a shame Amersham Town lost 2-0 and have started the campaign so poorly under Dwaine Bryan, following an extensive pre-season where they played a dozen matches, and find themselves bottom of the Division One table with four successive defeats as well as an FA Vase First Qualifying Round exit to United Counties League Premier Division Cogenhoe United at Spratleys Meadow, losing 4-1:

Awful start for them this season.

They need to get Reon Thomas playing more.

Very surprised to hear the club have dismissed Dwaine Bryan, in what's reported as a very short telephone conversation. Yes i can see results haven't been great, but rebuilding teams is no easy job. The most successful teams are either ones with a bug budget or have been built over many years, usually with good, local young players who have come through the youth system.

Will any new manager need to bring in a whole host of new players and the whole process repeats itself. Given the long delay with Covid break the timing is strange to me and i think the management team there could have been given more time to turn things around.

Amersham Town were founder members of the SSML, joining in 1997/98 from the Spartan League and placed in the Premier Division South where they finished second to bottom and were relegated to the Senior Division. Following the League reorganistion for the 2001/02 campaign whereby the lower Division's were restructured, with the old Senior Division becoming Division One and the old Division One becoming Division Two, Amersham Town were placed in Division One but finished bottom and were relegated to Division Two where the Club played for just two seasons before being promoted back to Division One but only due to having floodlights (see link). They remained in Division One, finishing no higher than seventh, until 2014/15 when an 'annus horribilis' campaign saw them finish bottom with just fifteen points and conceding 137 goals including 9-1 and 8-0 home defeats to Edgware Town and FC Broxbourne Borough respectively. After three seasons in Division Two the Club returned to Division One for the 2018/19 campaign, along with runaway Champions Park View, despite only finishing sixth:

Over 400 photographs from Amersham Town v Risborough Rangers in a SSML Division 1 fixture last season, on Tuesday 12 February 2019, which Risborough Rangers won 3-1 in their last season in the SSML before moving to the Hellenic League Division 1 East:

Another photographer was at the same 2018/19 SSML Division One fixture, at Spratleys Meadow on Tuesday 12 April 2019, I'm not sure what the attraction was that evening. Also see a match report, Rhys Murphy netted for the hosts with former Professional Ben Cullen scoring a hat trick for Risborough Rangers:

There was a lengthy thread on Amersham Town back in April 2011 when they finished next to bottom in Division One however were not relegated to Division Two. It's such a shame that it's always one step forward two steps back for the Club who were founded in 1890 and despite being founder members of the SSML in 1997/98 they have only played in the top flight that very first season when placed in Premier Division South from the Spartan League however were relegated to the Senior Division:

Amersham Town breath a sigh of relief and remain in the SSML following the restructuring of the National League System at Steps 4-6 level. The Club were founder members of the SSML in 1997/98 when joining from the Spartan League however apart from that first season, when being placed in the Premier Division South, have never played in the top flight:

TringArmy - Thanks, there are so many appeals at the moment, Biggleswade United, Potton United, Newport Pagnell Town and now Amersham Town from the SSML and also Wallingford Town, Easington Sports and Ardley Town. Why don't these Club's just accept their new placement gracefully rather than make a fruitless fuss and roll up their sleeves for next season, the FA are not going to change their minds as if they do it for one Club they will have to do it for all.
