Berkhamsted Raiders

Recommended Posts

It goes from bad to worse for beleaguered Berkhamsted Raiders as they twice gave away the lead at Manor Fields yesterday. Having led 1-0 at the interval and looking comfortable, Berkhamsted Raiders allowed Unite MK back into the proceedings on 72 minutes despite the home side being down to ten men, when they managed to re-take the lead on 83 minutes there was surely no way back for Unite MK however deep into stoppage time they still found an equaliser following shortly after a Berkhamsted Raiders player had needlessly seen red. Just to rub Dead Sea salt into their gaping wounds, Berkhamsted FC won again yesterday at Broadwater against Coleshill Town through a Ryan Kinnane strike on thirty minutes, the Comrades weren't at their brilliant best however and had to rely on experienced custodian Xavi Comas Leon to make an amazing penalty save. Don't get me wrong as I'm sure Berkhamsted Raiders will wish Berkhamsted FC the very best of luck for the remainder of the season and want to see the Comrades promoted to the BetVictor Southern League Premier Central Division next season, and Step Three football, however they must be feeling a little bit awkward knowing full well that had the Club had their 'wicked way' and got the go ahead to replace the grass pitch with an artificial 3G surface, as well as redevelop the iconic stadium, Berkhamsted FC would certainly not be in the position they are in right now.

they are not due to play at home again until 8 February when hosting Mursley United but it remains to be seen whether that game will go ahead, at least at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium anyway.

I'm assuming that Berkhamsted Raiders scheduled home fixture with Mursley United is definitely going ahead at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium tomorrow

Oh dear, what went so horribly wrong for Berkhamsted Raiders yesterday losing 3-1 at home to Mursley United, they are now down to seventh in the table after MK Gallacticos and Tring Corinthians AFC both won and leapfrog them, a top five finish and promotion to Division One is now looking highly unlikely for the beleaguered Club. Meanwhile Berkhamsted FC won again at Thame United, with Lewis Toomey netting twice, and they extend their lead at the summit of the BetVictor Southern League Division One Central to two points over Corby Town with a game in hand although third place Halesowen Town are the main danger with four games in hand of the Comrades. Interestingly the two sides have yet to meet this season with Berkhamsted entertaining Halesowen Town on 3 March before travelling to The Grove on 18 April, I'm sure Berkhamsted Raiders will be the first to wish Berkhamsted FC the very best of luck for the remainder of the campaign and want to see them promoted to the BetVictor Southern League Premier Central Division next season and Step Three football at their Broadwater home.

Goals from Sarratt's Jake Tabor and Marcus Rivers at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium last night gave beleaguered Berkhamsted Raiders their fifth league defeat in six games and their seventh reverse in their last eight outings. One of those defeats had already come at the hands of Sarratt, in the Hertfordshire Senior Centenary Trophy, just before Christmas at the same venue yet Berkhamsted Raiders had little or no trouble winning 3-2 at  the King George V Playing Fields on the opening day of the Division Two campaign, going on to win their next four league games before the cracks slowly started to appear and the rot really began to set in during December.  You have to wonder what has gone so drastically wrong at the over ambitious Club since they topped the table in August and September and looked cast iron certainties for their aim of promotion to Division One next season, a win last night against Sarratt would have returned them to the fifth place they need however it is looking very much like another season in Division 2.

I expect Berkhamsted Raiders are down on their knees as we speak praying that the hallowed Vicarage Lane turf is waterlogged tomorrow:

I'm sure that everyone at Berkhamsted Raiders will be attending Church tomorrow in order to give heartfelt thanks following the postponement of today's Division 2 fixture at Pitstone & Ivinghoe where the league leaders would have no doubt meted out their sixth league defeat in seven games. Berkhamsted Raiders are scheduled to entertain Unite MK next Saturday and then travel to Buckingham United with a midweek West Herts St Mary's Cup Quarter Final trip to Leverstock Green sandwiched inbetween, the recent application for promotion to Division One is now surely not worth the paper it is printed on unless, in the unlikely event, Tring Corinthians and MK Gallacticos can both be overhauled in sixth and fifth place before the end of the nightmare campaign, even then New Bradwell St Peter are coming up hard on the rails with games in hand.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well as Greavsie said 'it's a funny old game' isn't it, beleaguered Berkhamsted Raiders suddenly win 10-1 yesterday against Unite MK who appeared to just capitulate at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium in the second period having gone in at the break only 2-0 in arrears. The win takes Berkhamsted Raiders back up to the fifth place required for promotion to Division One albeit having played two games more than MK Gallacticos in sixth place and four games more than Mursley United in seventh. Meanwhile a ring rusty Berhamsted FC drew 2-2 at Bedworth United yesterday, after two weeks without a game, and have now been overhauled at the top of the Southern League Division One Central by Halesowen Town however the sides have to meet twice before the end of the campaign and six points for Berkhamsted should hopefully see them promoted automatically with Halesowen impressively still in the FA Trophy and facing a Quarter Final trip to Barnet on Saturday. It goes without saying that Berkhamsted Raiders will be wishing Berkhamsted FC the best of luck for the remainder of the season and will want to see the Comrades promoted to the Premier Central Division next term, and Step Three football, however they must be feeling a little sheepish knowing full well that had the Club had their way and got the nod to replace the grass pitch with an artificial 3G surface, as well as redevelop the iconic stadium, Berkhamsted FC would definitely not be in the position they are in right now.

Berkhamsted Raiders must feel like the World and his wife is against them, just when they get back to winning ways last Saturday, and emphatically so, their West Herts St Mary's Cup Quarter Final tie at Leverstock Green was called off yet again last night due to a waterlogged pitch, they will ty again at Pancake Lane next Tuesday following Berkhamsted Raiders visit to lowly Buckingham United on Saturday who they struggled to beat 3-2 at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium in November

Once again Berkhamsted Raiders must feel like they have lost sixpence and found a thruppeny bit with their Division Two fixture at Buckingham United being called off yesterday just when the team appear to have found their shooting boots again with the 10-1 win over Unite MK last week. The midweek trip to Leverstock Green in the West Herts St Mary's Cup was also called off where an upset may well have been on the cards with the Pancake Lane Club off form but have now had time to re-group for Tuesday's re-arranged Quarter Final tie. Should the bad weather continue then it is likely next Saturday's scheduled game against The 61 FC (Luton), at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium, will also be called off with Kings Langley due to entertain Lowestoft Town on Tuesday evening in a league fixture following the postponement of yesterday's home game with Coalville Town. Meanwhile Berkhamsted Raiders will no doubt want to congratulate Berkhamsted FC on their achievement of reaching the Hertfordshire FA Charity Cup Final with a hard fought 2-1 win at Cheshunt's Theobalds Lane last Tuesday, they will also want to wish the Comrades luck when they host FA Trophy Semi Finalists Halesowen Town on Tuesday evening in front of a large Broadwater crowd and hope that their Quarter Final exertions at Barnet yesterday, after extra time, will play nicely into the hands of Lee Bircham and Steve Bateman's men.

It was both a bad and a good night for Berkhamsted Raiders last night, firstly they went down 3-1 at Premier Division Leverstock Green in their finally played West Herts St Mary's Cup Quarter Final despite pulling a goal back just after the break and looking as if they might well get a leveller until Leverstock Green were awarded a 75th minute spot kick which was duly converted. On returning to the away dressing room however, news quickly filtered through from Broadwater that Berkhamsted had beaten Halesowen Town 1-0 to return to the summit of the BetVictor Southern League Premier Central Division although Halesowen still have two games in hand of the Comrades. Berkhamsted Raiders will no doubt hope that two FA Trophy Semi Final ties with Concord Rangers on 21 and 28 March will take their toll and Berkhamsted can then travel to The Grove next month and take all three points which should then put Lee Bircham and Steve Bateman's men in the driving seat for automatic promotion, additionally it will be hoped that Halesowen can also progress to the Final of the FA Trophy which would be a further distraction for them, they are clearly capable of beating Concord Rangers particularly with the Second Leg at The Grove in front of a full house. Following last night's defeat at Pancake Lane, Berkhamsted Raiders are now left to concentrate on gaining the fifth place required, or better, to gain their own promotion this season starting with what should be a formality on Saturday against 'whipping boys' The 61 FC (Luton) who at least will have their day in the sun at the palatial Orbital Fasteners Stadium.

As anticipated last week, Berkhamsted Raiders were once again all dressed up with nowhere to go this afternoon when their league fixture with The 61 FC (Luton) at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium was called off. As a result they dropped down to sixth in the table following MK Gallacticos 3-0 triumph over Buckingham United, Mursley United also gained a surprise point against Pitstone & Ivinghoe and, despite lying eighth, have three games in hand of Berkhamsted Raiders who's hopes of finishing in fifth place or better are fading fast. At least the beleaguered Club will have been buoyed by the excellent news that Berkhamsted FC won 1-0 at St Neots Town this afternoon to remain at the summit of the BetVictor Southern League Premier Central Division although, unfortunately, Halesowen Town also won, 4-0 at home to Kempston Rovers, and are just a point behind the Comrades with two games in hand.

Beleaguered Berkhamsted Raiders still have seven home league fixtures to fit in before the end of the season and, although dates have meticulously been scheduled for all seven, you have to wonder what will go wrong next for the hapless Club in a campaign that has resembled the Queen's so called Annus Horribillis of 1992, if not far worse. Kings Langley themselves also have seven home fixtures before their curtain comes down on 25 April and Watford Ladies six remaining Women's National League South home games so that is a great deal of football still to be played at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium on a surface that has had its problems from day one when Berkhamsted Raiders first home fixture wasn't played until 17 September.

Don't think I am just singling out beleaguered Berkhamsted Raiders but you really couldn't make it up if you tried could you, now it is the Coronavirus that has unfortunately scuppered their fixture with Codicote at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium this afternoon. At least on a positive note, for a change, the Club are hosting a Charity Quiz Night on Friday 27 March to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), a National Charity Berkhamsted Raiders are extremely passionate about having tragically lost young players previously to un-diagnosed heart conditions:

Charity Quiz Night

As part of our efforts to raise £5,000 to fund our Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) Screening Day in April, we are hosting a Raiders Charity Quiz Night on Friday 27th March to test your general knowledge, have fun and raise some money for a good cause.

Savagebee - I don't know where it is all going to end do you, the World has gone mad and the virus is all you hear about. As you suggest good causes and Charities such as this are going to start losing money big time because of it, will the London Marathon be run next month for example.
