Enfield Town v Burgess Hill

littlehampton

Recommended Posts

This Saturday Town host Burgess Hill at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium in a Bostik League Premier Division fixture, which sees both sides needing a win and three precious points.

The two sides have already met twice this season, with Town winning 1-6 away back in August, and more recently 4-1 at home last month in the Velocity Trophy quarter final. Will Town triumph again and make it three out of three?

Think it would be fair to say the Hillians are having a bit of a tough time in the IPL this season. At the moment they are second from bottom in the Table,  and  suffered a blow a few days back when their captain and inspirational leader Gary Elphick decided to take a break from football and left the Club. A big disappointment for all concerned.

An exciting match in prospect and Town need to be right up for the challenge. Time to make home advantage count, get behind our guys, give them plenty of vocal support and encouragement, as they battle to register another win. Let's hear it for the Town!

Good luck everyone. Enjoy the match!  COYT

LATEST NEWS

Ahead of this afternoons match a bit of late news from West Sussex of another player departure from Burgess Hill.

It has been confirmed in the last 24hrs that Hillians nine goal striker Ben Pope has left the Green Elephant Stadium to join East Sussex rivals Lewes.
Think this must have come as a shock to Burgess Hill. and the loss of two key players certainly doesn't help the Club, as they look to drag themselves away from the drop zone.

This is a must win game looking at the table and the opposition.

Betway have us at 19/40 for the win, I have gone for us to win but them to score too at 15/8 .

Disappointed to see remi leave us - first few games I saw him in, thought he really linked up well with Aaron, not been as effective since though.

Leaves us even lighter in defence..

Agree Raingod, it is disappointing to hear that Remi Sutton has left the club to join AFC Hornchurch. Don't know the reasons, but to me he always looked a class act, so personally very sorry to see him leave.

On the plus side, see we have signed a very experienced, versatile, 30 year old midfielder James Mulley, from Maidenhead United, who has played for a number of clubs at a higher level, and is capable of playing in a number of positions. Be interesting to hear how he shapes up this afternoon. Good luck James, have a successful debut, and welcome to the Town.

By all accounts a good all-round performance by Town today and a well deserved win, with two goals from Billy Bricknell in the second half to deliver three points, and register three wins this season against our friends from West Sussex.

Be very interested to hear Towners feedback on the match, and a victory which sets us up nicely for the League Cup semi-final against Stortford on Tuesday evening. They, by the way, lost 1-0 away to Leatherhead today. I am really looking forward to getting up on Tuesday to support our guys and, hopefully, see us reach the Final.

Note our defence had a few changes this afternoon. Where was Marc Weatherstone today, unavailable? Also, how did new signing James Mulley do on his club debut?

Good to see a number of the other results went our way, which should see us climb the Table. Star team performance today must be Dorking Wanderers who thumped Kingstonian 7-1 at home! To think we were unlucky to concede a late goal there and only lose 1-0.

Thoughts guys?

First half, again, we were poor, we only seem to settle down and play when we go in front, albeit BHT equalised very shortly after we'd taken the lead. Billy scored his first very early on in the second half and that is when we settled into the game . His second was a very smart finish but I have to admit that it was the most boring 3-1 win I've ever seen, if that makes any sense !

I heard that Weatherstone and Greene are away on holiday but this may be rumour.

As for James Tulley he must have wondered what he had let himself into during the first half. The ball never touch the ground when we were in possession. Fortunately in the second half we started to play more on the ground and he began to look a more at home. Verdict, seems a good acquisition especially when we finally started to play more recognisable football.

Only one ball boy on the far side didn’t help... the ball rolling into the corner of the athletics track like a magnet.. their keeper spent more time getting the ball than in goal.... as the posters rightly put the first half was poor... lack of control and accuracy in passing...Joes kicking again was wayward... highlight of the second half was the third well taken goal....didn’t really see enough of Tully to make an opinion ... in fact no real outstanding performances in a game we were expected to win.... much bigger game Tuesday .. Greene is back from holiday and a few Stortford players are apparently cup tied....
