The Non League Football Show

So what did we think of the absolutely riveting BBC Three Counties Radio Non League show earlier this evening featuring Leighton Town and Old Bradwell United, following their FA Vase and SSML Challenge Trophy ties on Saturday, Amersham Town, Hemel Hempstead Town and Penn & Tylers Green. Former Watford and Reading full back Paul Franklin was Ollie Bayliss's entertaining and amusing co-host and they chatted about large crowds, sacked managers and cup runs amongst many other things:

Ollie Bayliss will have a field day of Headingly 1981 proportions on Tuesday's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League show won't he, it will be a great listen, I wonder who the co host will be as they are normally great value:

It shouldn’t have been left to each league to decide. People who run leagues AREN’T public health experts!

So what did we think of the BBC Three Counties Radio Non League show yesterday evening folks featuring Bovingdon, St Albans City, Risborough Rangers and Hemel Hempstead Town with their entertaining Vice Chairman, Kerry Underwood, as Ollie Bayliss's wing man chatting about the Coronavirus, postponements, finishing the campaign and what we are all doing right now, if anything, instead of watching football, there was also an interesting feature on the SSML:

It's all just going from bad to worse folks, get this, Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show has been unceremoniously pulled with immediate effect due to the radio station apparently adapting the schedule to provide a vital local service to the Community during the Coronavirus outbreak. You really couldn't make it up could you, it's only for an hour a week:

Sadly not the BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show, and the dulcet tones of Ollie Bayliss, however the other one featuring Wealdstone supermo Dean Brennan and the Non League Paper's senior writer David Richardson. I had forgotten that this show was still going ahead each week so catch up on earlier shows too, via the link, including last week's that gave Mike Appleby a special mention following his sad death:

Sadly the BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show is not back as yet but it is still Ollie Bayliss's dulcet tones as he chatted away for a full hour yesterday about Non League football on a Talk Non League YouTube Podcast with a host called Martin Lambert:

I gather that it is Ollie Bayliss's Birthday today so many happy returns to him and thanks for all the enjoyment you bring to so many people through your hard work, you have such a nice bedside manner unlike some broadcasters and journalists. Lets hope that the BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show will be back soon:

Just a reminder that the other Non League Football Show is still going strong even if Ollie Bayliss's one on BBC Three Counties Radio sadly isn't and I still don't know why it was taken off air, the lame excuse was due to the radio station 'adapting the schedule to provide a vital local service to the Community during the Coronavirus outbreak' and I wonder how many listeners they lost for that one hour a week on a Tuesday evening by doing that:

Again sadly not the BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show but at least, thankfully, it is Ollie Bayliss's dulcet tones as he chatted away on Talk Sport Radio earlier today (Sunday) about the hurried and hugely unpopular decision to make steps 3-7 null and void as well as the future of non-league football, it's a really great listen if you missed it:

Here are the dulcet tones of Ollie Bayliss again talking to BBC Radio Cumbria yesterday (Tuesday) evening about the current situation with Barrow who are hoping to win promotion back to the Football League after a 48 year absence, it's another really good listen:

Here we go folks, again sadly still not the BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show, whenever that will return, however still Ollie Bayliss's dulcet tones as he chatted away recently about non league football on episode six of 'Tales of a Groundhopper'. It's a really great listen as Ollie reminisces about going to football when he was a youngster growing up in Aylesbury, where he still lives, and going to Buckingham Road, he also talks about his favourite grounds and likes Hemel Hempstead Town, St Albans City, Hitchin Town and Sutton United as despite now being 3G at Gander Green Lane it is still an old school ground from back in the day when they beat Coventry City in the FA Cup Third Round in 1989:

An interesting one to one interview last month with Ollie Bayliss where he chats openly about his career in journalism and love for non league football:

Non League show presenter Ollie Bayliss talks about how he got into the journalism industry and how he came to work at the BBC. Ollie talks about how he became a football commentator, whilst also talking about some of the challenges he faced earlier in his career.

This is a nice picture of the great man isn't it wrapped up against the elements, I wonder if he is on his way to a game, it looks like it could be November or December doesn't it with all the leaves on the ground, he seems to be in a kind of wood or forest, there are a lot of those close to rural non league grounds, Amersham Town springs to mind:

Savagebee - Is there a possibility that the photograph of Ollie could have been taken in late October, leaf fall normally starts around mid October doesn't it or do you think there are already too many leaves on the ground, they also look like they are well trodden in don't they so I think November, or more likely December, is the best bet.

Ollie Bayliss was at the Boreham Wood v Halifax National League Play Off Eliminator yesterday where he had done a nice  article for the match programme, I wonder when Ollie's riveting Non League Show will be back on BBC Three Counties Radio, surely it can't be too long with the new campaign now on the horizon:

I didn't know that Paul had reached so far and I am over the moon for him, as you know I took him under my wing at Haringey Borough when he played in goal for the Under 17's and taught him everything he knows albeit not about Officiating as that came later on when he realised that he preferred refereeing to playing.

Ollie Bayliss guested on the Not The 92 Xtra Podcast this week and it's a really good listen, pretty much everything Non League was covered. There is still no news on when Ollie's Non League Show will be back on BBC Three Counties Radio, surely it has got to be in the next two or three weeks with the new season due to get under way in the first week of September:

Ollie Bayliss has made the long trip up to Harrogate today to commentate on the Harrogate Town v Boreham Wood National League Play Off Semi Final this afternoon for BBC Three Counties Radio, commentary can be heard via the BBC website on the Three Counties Radio link. I wonder if Ollie will have time to go for tea at Bettys whilst he is in Harrogate before or after the game:

I expect Ollie Bayliss was a bit down in the mouth yesterday after Boreham Wood had lost 1-0 at Harrogate Town in their National League Play Off Semi Final, I assume that he would have been commentating on the Final at Wembley next Sunday had they got through for BBC Three Counties Radio:

Just a reminder that the other Non League Football Show is still going on each week on Friday's, today's show is already accessible and you can catch up on all the earlier shows via the link below. Sadly host Tim Fuell is not Ollie Bayliss but then who is and it's not a bad listen albeit mostly about the NFL and little or nothing lower down the Pyramid:

Here we go folks, Ollie Bayliss has penned excellent articles for each of the NFL Play Off Final programmes this weekend, enjoy. He could have quite easily just done the same article for all three programmes and changed a few words here and there and the names of the teams but that's not him, he always goes that extra Country mile:

Ollie Bayliss made an appearance on BBC London this evening in a very interesting piece filmed at Coles Park, home of former SSML Club Haringey Borough, in relation to Non League Club's current financial plight, PetetheGreek's friend Tom Loizou also appears:
