Coronavirus - SSML

There's an interesting thread on another Forum entitled 'Coronavirus Friendly List' where, wait for it, friendly fixtures are supposedly being arranged by Club's in the light of the suspension of competitive league and cup fixtures, that says it all about the climate we're currently living in doesn't it. Perhaps a certain Official can start a trademark thread on here three months early, listing any friendlies arranged involving SSML Club's:

WTF!

Will they be played behind closed doors or something?

Savagebee - It is actually getting crazier by the minute and it appears to be quite serious, a Referee has been approached by teams to referee friendlies this Saturday, he wasn't sure whether to accept or not. Also a number of facilities are taking bookings for matches to take place however one poster advises that we should all just read a good book, talk to the wife and watch reruns of old comedy shows to alleviate the gloom, maybe he is right:

All friendlies have to be sanctioned by the respective County FA's

Players and match officials will not be covered by insurance

No way will these games take place

The devil is in the detail.

The FA 'advised' that football be stopped. They have not banned it.

Technically, you could still play official matches.

Not directly SSML but the Boreham Wood Chairman , Danny Hunter, has issued a lengthy and dramatic Club statement where I feel that he has gone slightly overboard, despite these unprecedented times. He says, amongst other things, that "none of you need me to tell you, that there isn’t a cat in hell’s chance of any football starting up again in the National League on April 3rd or anywhere near that date" and "the reality is football must, I repeat must, become a total irrelevance for many of you for you for the foreseeable future", see what you make of it anyway:

There is also a thread on another Forum entitled 'Suggestions How To Sort This Mess Out' and there are some real corkers, for example, starting the 2020/21 campaign in late November with all teams playing each other just the once instead of home and away. Another great one is to give up on the 2020/21 campaign altogether, just get the current one completed as and when we are able to and another suggestion is to scrap most/all Cup competitions other than the Nationals in a shortened 2020/21 campaign with no replays in the FA Cup/FA Vase and FA Trophy. Fascinating stuff:

Savagebee - Here's one for you, you will love this, a Duckworth/Lewis method equivalent to settle unfinished League competitions:

Obviously not SSML related folks, or football related come to that, but I read this rather disturbing article in the Telegraph unless it is just scaremongering. They predict the following: 1. do nothing = 510,000 deaths, 2. home isolation, social distancing of entire population, household quarantine = 87,000 deaths, 3. home isolation, social distancing of entire population, school and university closure = 19,000 deaths, 4. home isolation, social distancing of entire population, school and university closure, household quarantine = just 13,000 deaths. The choice is ours I guess:

As I said I have a look on the NLM forum from time to time but I rarely post anything on the NLM forum a lot of the topics on that forum just don't interest me if I'm honest.

There is a game of football being played at Hornchurch FC tomorrow, kick off 11.30am, does that need to be sanctioned by the Essex FA:

The First Team and U18's will be playing a mix and match game tomorrow, kick off at 11.30am.

Everyone is welcome to attend and watch. The bar will be open after the game as per previous post.

Hope to see people there.

I felt this notification from the Bedfordshire FA was a bit harsh, why stop Club's training as players need to keep fit:

After receiving numerous calls from clubs regarding training and their public liability insurance, the Bedfordshire Football Association is advising against all training until further notice in line with the most recent government announcement.

Please be aware that this may affect individual club's public liability insurance

I would say no.

I see that the Cambridgeshire FA, who I believe Eynesbury Rovers are partly affiliated to, have issued an interesting statement below and are polling all of their Club's on what should happen next. They have suggested that all County Cups are to be declared null and void this season and Club's will not need to pay an entry fee for next season. With regard to the League competitions, there are three options recommended, 1. play this season to its completion with a restart on or before 1 May, 2. apply points per game (ppg) to current tables, 3. declare the current campaign null and void altogether:
