SSML Legends Where Are They Now?

Old fashioned centre back Liam McDevitt was with Royston Town in the SSML Premier Division during 2010/11, the season before they won the Championship and were promoted to the Evo Stik Southern League Central Division, he played just eight games for the Crows before leaving to join Barton Rovers later that season and stayed at Sharpenhoe Road for three years or so before briefly returning to Garden Walk and going back to Barton Rovers yet again. More recently Liam has had brief spells with St Ives Town, St Neots Town, Biggleswade Town and is currently plying his trade with Hayes & Yeading as Captain in the BetVictor Southern League Premier South Division, the 30 year old cannot seem to stay with any one Club for a lengthy period of time. He started his career at Stevenage  Borough in 2006 before moving to Hitchin Town for three seasons and then joining Royston Town in their SSML heyday, a good solid player who was liked by legendary Royston Town supremo Paul Attfield:

34 games and 1 goal this season for Hayes & Yeading United FC.

A very decent player.

Seems popular with the Hayes & Yeading United FC supporters.

Kings Langley were only promoted from Division One in second place on goal difference the season before however they took the 2014/15 SSML Premier Division campaign by the scruff of the neck and, incredibly, just two seasons later were a Step 3 Club following three successive promotions. It was however another Oxhey Jets striker, namely Lee Armitt (pictured), who grabbed the goalscoring headlines that season despite his side only finishing twelfth in the table, Armitt netted 35 times in just 30 league games, slightly less than half of Oxhey Jets goals total for the entire campaign. He is currently with Colney Heath having also had spells with Hillingdon Borough, London Colney, Welwyn Garden City and North Greenford United during his career so far, at Cotlandswick he netted 24 times in 21 SSML Premier Division outings in 2015/16:

AFC Dunstable had a fairly comfortable ride to the 2015/16 SSML Premier Division Championship, their highest honour since forming as Old Dunstablians in 1981, to earn promotion to the Southern League Division One Central. London Colney knew that their time was close and it was finally third time lucky for them the following season after finishing runners up two seasons in succession, Lee Armitt had arrived at Cotlandswick from Oxhey Jets and, as mentioned earlier, netted 24 times in the League. Hoddesdon Town had an excellent campaign finishing in third place, the highest league finishing position I believe in the Club's 141 year history, as did Karen's Welwyn Garden City who had only been promoted as Champions from Division One the season before, in addition they lifted the Challenge Trophy, beating Berkhamsted 4-3 in a thrilling Final, and were also runners up in the Premier Division Cup losing 1-0 to Hoddesdon Town in a Final that could have gone either way. Ashley Kersey (pictured and no relation to Paul Kersey from the Death Wish films) was their star man who also had spells at Sun Postal Sports and Bedford before arriving at Herns Lane:

London Colney epitomised the saying 'third time lucky' when finally lifting the SSML Premier Division Championship Shield sky high in 2016/17 however Hertford Town gave them a run for their money and took four points from their two meetings, London Colney also lifted the Challenge Trophy winning a one sided final against Thame Rangers at Second Meadow. Jon Clements was arguably the player of the season netting 41 times in 54 appearances for the Cotlandswick Club, a young Archie McClelland (pictured) also weighed in with a healthy 29 strikes in 51 outings and, after spending last season with Harpenden Town, he is currently plying his trade at Bell Close with Leighton Town netting 12 times this season including the first goal at his old stomping ground Cotlandswick in February in a 4-0 win:

Just resuming this thread and the 2004/2005 campaign saw Potters Bar Town lift the SSML Premier Division Championship Shield gaining promotion to Division One East of the Southern League for one season before moving sideways to the Isthmian League Division One North for geographical reasons. The Club also won the Premier Division Cup that season, beating Harefield United 2-1 after extra time at Goffs Lane, as well as the Hertfordshire FA Charity Shield but lost 7-1 at Uxbridge in the FA Cup Preliminary Round and 3-2 at St Neots Town in a FA Vase Second Round proper tie, their last game in the competition having not returned to Step 5 level since. Hanwell Town finished in second place however led the table for much of the campaign and it is still a mystery to this day how they suffered such a dramatic loss of form so late on to allow the Scholars to win the Championship by sixteen points in the end. Hanwell Town were nine points ahead of Haywood United in third who had only been promoted from Division One the season before and changed their name to Aylesbury Vale the following season. You could possibly feel it in your water that Hillingdon Borough, albeit only in sixth place, were on the verge of something big and so it proved the following season, Blaise O'Brien netted 29 league goals for them in just 16 appearances, Potters Bar Town's top scorer was Richie Howard, also with 29 league goals from 18 starts, and Keith Rowlands weighed in with 25 goals in 17 league outings for Hanwell Town, Rowlands netted 283 goals in 371 games for Hanwell Town and was Manager at Reynolds Field for a short spell some years later where he is still idolised:

Keith Rowlands was a top striker back in the day and a really nice bloke. He still plays a bit of Vets footy I'm told.

Blaise O’Brien was miles above.

Chris Mills and Charlie Baverstock set up Blaise O'Brien to most of his goals at Hanwell Town yes he was a top striker as well. Stopped playing fairly young compared to Keith Rowlands who played to his mid to late 30s.

Beaconfield SYCOB won the SSML Premier Division Championship in 2003/04 by eight points from Brook House and were promoted to Division One East of the Southern League before moving to Division One West the following season for geographical reasons, Brook House were possibly distracted slightly by reaching both the Challenge Trophy and Premier Division Cup Finals. Beaconsfield SYCOB however only lost two league matches all season to Harefield United at Holloways Park and 2-1 at Brook House in a blood and thunder February affair, I gather Leon Callendar was their top goalscorer however the defence only conceded 21 times and former Watford and England schoolboys goalkeeper Liam Watson was instrumental throughout the campaign saving pretty much everything that was thrown at him, he later joined Northwood, North Greenford United, Tring Athletic, Aylesbury FC:

Hi Karen - You're alive and kicking then, I was getting worried about you. Do you mind letting us know whether the SSML Management Board meeting took place on 24 March and, if so, when the Minutes will be available, also whether the SSML AGM is still planned to go ahead on 27 June, many thanks in advance.

Somerset Ambury, I don’t remember them or Brookhouse.

Brache Sparta has some very competitive sides over the years, always knew you were in for a game, their demise seemed rapid. This was my last season in SSML. Shame mitoo doesn’t go back further. Non league database is a great resource though.

It was to be Beaconsfield SYCOB's turn the following season however they finished as runners up in 2002/2003 to Dunstable Town despite scoring 38 less goals than the Champions who were promoted to the Ryman League, the two games between the sides produced unpredictable scorelines with Dunstable Town winning 5-2 at Holloways Park in October and Beaconsfield SYCOB winning 1-0 at Creasey Park in March. Dunstable Town also reached  the Challenge Trophy Final, which was the last season it was held over two legs, losing 4-1 on aggregate to Harefield United who also reached the Premier Division Cup Final losing 2-0 to Hanwell Town. Pitstone & Ivinghoe won Division One that season by ten points from Harpenden Town but were unfortunately unable to gain promotion due to ground grading and the Rothamsted Park Club deservedly went up to the Premier Division, along with Leverstock Green, having scored 122 league goals through the likes of Gordon Guile, Robbie Rix, Adam Price, James Gray, Dan Price, Paul Barnes, David Bound, Graham Golds and Gareth Devoti:
