You have to feel desperately sorry for Sarratt who unfortunately drew the short straw when the SSML Division Two fixtures were released recently, they travel to Abbey Road to take on Championship favourites Old Bradwell United on Saturday 19 September for the first SSML Division Two fixture of the new campaign

Perhaps the only surprise on Saturday was that Old Bradwell United didn't win by more goals as they beat Sarratt 4-0 at Abbey Road, Darryl Smith, Ben Green and Toby Cribb with a brace netted, it already looks like there won't be any stopping David Keene's men who travel to MK Gallacticos next Saturday (26 September). The Development side meanwhile start their Hellenic League campaign on Saturday 26 September with a Bluefin Challenge Cup First Round tie against Division Two East outfit Chalfont Wasps at Abbey Road, they still await their League fixtures for the season and will presumably start away from Abbey Road with the First team entertaining Bovingdon on Saturday 3 October:

As precicted, Old Bradwell United Development are on the road on Saturday 3 October in their first Hellenic League Division Two North fixture, unfortunately for them they travel to Adderbury Park who last season beat them three times, twice in the League and also 1-0 in the Chairmans Challenge Cup Third Round before the curtain came crashing down on the campaign. The following Saturday (10 October) the Development team entertain Buckingham Athletic Development at Abbey Road, Woodstock Town have switched to Division Two South leaving just fourteen Club's in Division Two North:

Ardley United Development
Aston Clinton Development
Banbury United Development
Buckingham Athletic Development
Easington Sports Development
Headington Amateurs
Heyford Athletic
Kidlington Development

Old Bradwell United Development
Risborough Rangers Reserves

Old Bradwell United then travel to the North Furzton Sports Ground to play MK Gallacticos the following Saturday where they won 11-1 last season on 25 January, a day that MK Gallacticos won't forget in a hurry and they will no doubt be hell bent on sweet revenge on 26 September.

No real surprise today at the North Furzton Sports Ground with Old Bradwell United going down 2-0 to a lying in wait MK Gallacticos in a SSML Division 2 fixture. The Development side also had a bad afternoon losing 2-1 at Abbey Road to Hellenic League Division Two East Chalfont Wasps in a Bluefin Challenge Cup First Round tie:

All MK Gallacticos home games at the Sir Herbert Leon Academy this season

Was that agreed to by the SSML, is there a problem with the North Furzton Sports Ground, it gives an unfair advantage to MK Gallacticos doesn't it if they play on 4g every home game and the away team has to adapt to that surface on the day

What a great start to Old Bradwell United Development's Hellenic League Division Two North campaign, apparently Adderbury Park's pitch is unavailable this afternoon so the fixture has been called off although I don't expect they will be too disappointed about not facing a team who appear to hold an Indian sign over them as well as the weather conditions today. The First team do entertain Bovingdon at Abbey Road which has surprisingly survived the deluge however the conditions may well play into the Green Lane Club's favour who have started their SSML Division Two campain in promising fashion with two wins from two games unlike David Keene's men who are still smarting from a surprise 2-0 defeat at MK Gallacticos last Saturday (see link):

It is beginning to look as if the SSML Division Two Championship isn't going to be a foregone conclusion afterall, as was fully expected a month or so ago with Old Bradwell United having already dropped four points with the recent 2-0 defeat at MK Gallacticos and a 2-2 draw at Tring Corinthians AFC last Saturday (10 October) where they were fortunate in the end to come away from Icknield Way with a point despite twice taking the lead through Darryl Smith and Ben Green (see match report). The previous week (3 October) Bovingdon were the visitors to Abbey Road (see match report) in difficult weather conditions and David Keene's men made heavy weather of winning 3-1 with goals from Tommy Cooke, Ross Butler and Ben Greene, it was 1-1 at the break with Darryl Smith missing his second successive penalty early in the second period before two late goals saw off Bovingdon who some days later announced an outbreak of Covid-19 at their Green Lane headquarters. Following the postponement of their visit to Adderbury Park, the Development team finally saw their first Hellenic League Division Two North action of the new campaign last Saturday when hosting Buckingham Athletic Development who already had a League win under their belt as well as a Bluefin Challenge Cup First Round success and their strength told in a smash and grab 1-0 win against a young Old Bradwell United team. This Saturday (17 October) the Development team play in the Chairmans Challenge Cup First Round at fellow Division Two North side Heyford Athletic whilst the First team entertain Aston Clinton who won't just travel to Abbey Road and roll over, neither fixture happened last season due to the virus outbreak and the Club's last locked horns on 4 May 2019 at Aston Clinton Park shortly after meeting at Bell Close in a memorable Division Two Cup Final:

No major difficulties for Old Bradwell United this afternoon as they beat Aston Clinton 3-1 at Abbey Road with goals from Jakk Pursey, Daniel Smith and Darryl Smith, next Saturday (24 October) they go to The 61 FC (Luton) so a fully expected three points at the Kingsway Recreation Ground will keep David Keene's men nicely within touching distance of Codicote who have a 100% unblemished League record thus far. Meanwhile the Development side travelled to Heyford Athletic for a Chairmans Challenge Cup First Round tie and disappointingly went down 5-2, it hasn't been a great start to the campain for Lee Kimberley's young side however it is still early days with just one Hellenic League Division Two North fixture played albeit two quick First Round Cup exits, this afternoon and in the Bluefin Challenge Cup, next Saturday they welcome Headington Amateurs to Abbey Road.

My maths isn't great but 1 point from 6 usually equals 5 drop points.

You will have to show me how you make it only 4 points.

Over 200 photographs and match report, courtesy of Sports Shots, from Old Bradwell United's 4-0 win last Saturday (12 December) over Mursley United, at Abbey Road in a SSML Division Two fixture, which, for the time being at least, cements their place at the summit of the table with Pitstone & Ivinghoe looking the main danger with their three games in hand. Zac Ferris from the spot, Toby Cribb and a brace from substitute Ross Butler scored the goals, there is also an interesting pre-match interview with Old Bradwell United supremo David Keene:

This has proven to be the case hasn't it with MK Gallacticos home wins this season against Old Bradwell United, Berkhamsted Comrades, Tring Corinthians AFC and Codicote last Saturday

3G is allowed at this level, no issue with that. The fact that it’s not a great 3G or set up there is different. The lights aren’t very good at all and no dugouts.

The Hellenic League have made a statement on the present situation:

The main message is that there is NO CHANGE whilst we remain in lockdown. We are in the Government’s hands and no football at our level will be played until we are released.

Old Bradwell United reached the Division Two Cup Final in 2014/15 however did not turn up at Cow Lane on Wednesday 6 May 2015 and their opponents Hale Leys United won 4-0 to complete the League and Cup double that season. They also coincidentally won their home League fixture 4-0 however at least Old Bradwell United had some consolation in winning 3-1 at Abbey Road with a hat trick from Tommy Cooke, one of only two League games the Champions lost that season:

Perhaps Munchkin can throw some light on why Old Bradwell United Development haven't entered the Hellenic League end of season Challenge Cup competition, there are Club's from Division Two North participating such as Adderbury Park, Headington Amateurs, Heyford Athletic, Southam United, Risborough Rangers Development and Long Crendon Reserves so it's rather puzzling although Aston Clinton Development and Buckingham Athletic Development haven't entered either:

The groups for the Hellenic League Challenge Cups have been drawn. Fixtures and dates will be confirmed in due course.

This is so sad to see isn't it although you have to wonder why Old Bradwell United leave their team bus unattended like that, it's surely an easy target for feral youngsters:
