Referees/Assistant Referees

Recommended Posts

So nobody has ever given you a Glasgow kiss then as was the case with young Referee Ryan Hampson who campaigned for strike action, I  know Ben Furneaux took a lot of stick in the beginning, around 2006, when he was still soaking behind the ears as he used to issue cards like confetti but he became the best Official I've ever come across in Non League. This was embedded in the earlier link and you may have missed it:

Ben was a very good referee.

I think he got as far as Level 3.

Yes, I know you Officiated with Ben on quite a lot of games, we didn't see eye to eye at first after a game between Kentish Town and Brache Sparta on 23 August 2006, when I first crossed paths with him, but we became good friends, unlike you and me:

It's strange as we were just talking about violence on Referees, one was unceremoniously punched in the face last Sunday during a pre-season friendly game after showing a player a red card, the team in question, Sporting Club de Mundial, are in the Hackney and Leyton Sunday Premier League and only formed recently, this is going to be their first season so what a start, the Club's mission statement is below:

https://mundialmag.com/blogs/articles/sporting-club-de-mundial-2019-20-hackney-football

https://mundialmag.com/blogs/articles/sporting-club-de-mundial-join-the-club

The idea is to engender a long overdue reassessment of what grassroots football is all about by creating Sporting Club de MUNDIAL: what used to be a semi-fictional team that mostly involved us getting walloped by M&C Saatchi will now feature a men’s and women’s team (alongside drop-in sessions for local players and MUNDIAL readers) who remind us why we love football, with the players selected to represent the qualities that make us all nostalgic for how we fell for the game in the first place.

I'll let Rhodes take it from here.

Hopefully the police and the football authorities take swift and decisive action.

I think the Club (Sporting Club de Mundial) should have been closed down after what happened or certainly thrown out of the Hackney & Leyton Sunday Premier League, they are operating under totally false pretences, the incident was captured on video for all to see and attracted press coverage in all the National papers:

The idea is to engender a long overdue reassessment of what grassroots football is all about by creating Sporting Club de MUNDIAL: what used to be a semi-fictional team that mostly involved us getting walloped by M&C Saatchi will now feature a men’s and women’s team (alongside drop-in sessions for local players and MUNDIAL readers) who remind us why we love football, with the players selected to represent the qualities that make us all nostalgic for how we fell for the game in the first place.

Focussing on community and making people fall in love with football again, Sporting Club de Mundial will be the representation of what makes football so special to us and it’ll happen every Sunday morning down the Marshes.

Carrying the values of MUNDIAL, the aim of the club is for it to become something that kids can aspire to be part of on the field, but also through the opportunities we want to create off it.

Referee Mr Satyam Toki is still awaiting Police action following the violent assault during a game involving Sporting Club de Mundial on Sunday 9 August, also I wonder what disciplinary action the Hackney & Leyton Sunday League have taken against the Club who 'focus on Community and making people fall in love with football again':

Hackney & Leyton Sunday League have no jurisdiction.

Some minor changes to the laws of the game for this coming season have been announced:

I wonder what decision Referee's would make in this situation as the defender coming across to tackle clearly stumbles before making the tackle making it look far worse than it was:

There is some interesting Refereeing discusion on another Forum on a thread entitled 'Right or wrong? You be the ref', I was wondering if, in the unlikely event, PetetheGreek has ever been over ruled by the Referee during a game whether he has felt aggrieved or angry if he is sure that he had made the correct decision:

Hassan Rajwani, Level Five Referee and CEO of the company Doublesix, was on Ollie Bayliss's BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show this afternoon giving him the 'hard sell' on a new all in one smartwatch and mobile app that has been developed to assist Referees on the pitch, it was initially aimed at grassroots Referees however the product has received a very positive reception Worldwide and FIFA have even shown a keen interest, it would be interesting to get PetetheGreek's view of it:

Refsix is a smartwatch for football referees

I've no problem with this but probably not for me.

I'm used to the old way of pad and pen to record details but I see more and more Referees using these types of watches.

That's exactly what Hassan Rajwani 'ridiculed' on the show but not in so many words, I think he actually mentioned 'pad and pen' and hinted that it went out with the arc however I'm not criticising you for still using it as I am old school too.

This guy sound like a salesman.

I would guess that over 99% of Referees around the world still use pen and pad.
