Sinclair re-signs and we also welcome Reynolds and Franklin.

We are delighted to confirm that Lewis Sinclair has re-signed for the 2020-21 season. We would also like to welcome new signings Tommy Reynolds and Lewis Franklin.

Defender Sinclair represented Peterborough United at u18 level before spells at Langford and Arlesey Town who he joined us from at the back end of last season. Due to lock-down he only made a couple of appearances but he will be looking to add to these this season.

Right-back Tommy was with Stevenage FC's Academy for 5 years before stepping up to senior football at Langford aged 16; last season he played for Ware FC's u18s. This season will be his first at step 5.

Lewis Franklin was with Tottenham's academy for 6 years and Stevenage FC's for 2 years before joining Hitchin Town's Academy. He is a full-back who is equally comfortable on the right or left. Lewis is a member of our new u18 EJA squad and his efforts in preseason have been rewarded by Rob Bates with a place in the senior squad.

Nice photographs from Knebworth v Baldock Town in a 2012/13 Hertfordshire Senior County League encounter, at Knebworth's Recreation Ground on Saturday 18 August 2012, Baldock Town won 3-1 with clinical strikes from Anthony Bowskill, Gary Christie and Sam Crow. The Club were to finish in second place that season behind runaway leaders Metropolitan Police Bushey who inflicted their only home defeat, winning 2-0 at Top Field early on in the campaign and also 3-1 at Police headquarters in Bushey in April 2013 when almost crowned Champions:

Baldock Town's Reserve team managed to scrape an exciting 3-2 win over Chipperfield Corinthians Reserves at the North Herts Arena in Baldock yesterday afternoon despite allowing the visitors to come back from 2-0 down, they had to rely on Paul Morris to compete his hat trick on 88 minutes. Next Saturday they entertain Oxhey Jets Development in their second Herts Senior County League Division Two fixture who unfortunately lost 9-1 at Lemsford yesterday.

Baldock Town's Reserve team only managed a disappointing 1-1 draw against Oxhey Jets Development last Saturday (12 September) in their second Herts Senior County League Division Two fixture, had it not been for a careless own goal they may well have topped the Division going into this Saturday's (19 September) Greg Cup First Round tie against Broxbourne Badgers at the North Herts Arena in Baldock, kick off 2.30pm. Baldock Town have surprisingly never lifted the prestigious Greg Cup, for teams in North Hertfordshire, since their original formation in 1905 and under various guises such as Baldock, Baldock Town Letchworth and Baldock Town however a Club named Baldock Social won it in 1929, eighteen years after it was first competed for in the 1910/1911 season with a unique stipulation that any player having received a winners medal should not be allowed to take part in future competitions. This ruling was however done away with in 2007, presumably by the Herts Senior County League who should be ashamed of themselves for going against the wishes of deceased competition founder, namely Mr Greg. An original 1911/12 winners medal is pictured when Walkern FC won the competition however Hitchin Union Jack won the inaugural competition a year earlier:

I see that Baldock Town are advertising for a Club Secretary, it's a shame I don't live in the North Herts area or I would throw my hat into the ring:

Baldock Town won't be lifting the Greg Cup this season either after disappointingly going down 6-2 this afternoon to Broxbourne Badgers at the North Herts Arena, details of the surprise trouncing are still sketchy so we will focus on the First team's 3-1 defeat to Leighton Town in already their third SSML Premier Division fixture. It was Leighton Town's first League game and Baldock Town caught them cold on just four minutes when Alex Coppin ghosted in, Martin Peters style, to score at the far post, the visitors were allowed to regroup following that early setback and were level just before the interval, they proceeded to take the lead on 56 minutes and despite missing a penalty five minutes later sealed Baldock Town's fate shortly before the final whistle with their Archie McClelland scoring all three goals, Baldock Town's cause certainly wasn't helped by Zach Decker seeing red with half an hour remaining. The Reserves travel to Cuffley next Saturday (26 September) for a Herts Senior County League Division Two fixture whilst the First team have a difficult awayday at Colney Heath.

What a great team photograph of Baldock Town Football Club, I wonder if the clock on the stand was set purposely. Today (Saturday 26 September), the First team travel to Colney Heath for a SSML Premier Division encounter however the Reserves now appear to be 'redundant' this afternoon and without a fixture until next Saturday (3 October) when they hope to exert sweet revenge on Broxbourne Badgers at the North Herts Arena for their embarrassing 6-2 Greg Cup First Round defeat last week:

I'm not a big fan of 'Two Men In Search Of The Beautiful Game' however this is a good one from when they visited Hitchin Road on 13 February 2019 for a 2018/19 SSML Premier Division fixture between Baldock Town and Biggleswade FC, despite Baldock Town winning the game 3-2 Biggleswade FC went on to win the Championship by five points, as well as the SSML Premier Division Cup, gaining promotion to the Southern League Division One Central:

Baldock Town Reserves side entertain Broxbourne Badgers at the North Herts Arena this afternoon, in a Herts Senior County League Division Two fixture, hell bent on gaining sweet revenge for their embarrassing 6-2 Greg Cup First Round defeat at the same venue on 19 September. Meanwhile the First team's SSML Premier Division fixture with Leverstock Green goes ahead at Hitchin Road despite some doubts early this morning due to the inclement weather today and boss Rob Bates will be looking to build on the 3-2 win over Broadfields United on Wednesday evening with goals from Charlie Joy, Charlie Rome from the spot and substitute Luis Brooker, the side also included seventeen year olds Ashley Hay and Oliver Trott as well as sixteen year old goalkeeper Oliver Skinner who made some competent saves:

Baldock Town had an impressive 7-0 win over the visiting Stratford Fields Club who never laid a glove on their hosts all afternoon:

YouTube highlights from Baldock Town's fixture last Tuesday (3 November) against Newport Pagnell Town, the last game before the enforced lockdown period, Baldock Town lost 1-0 but were very unfortunate not to come away from Willen Road with a hard earned point with the goal coming on 89 minutes. Hopefully things will resume on Saturday 5 December when Rob Bates's men are due to entertain Oxhey Jets, mid table at this stage of the campaign is satisfactory but it could have been a lot better with narrow defeats at Eynesbury Rovers and Edgware Town when playing very well, as was the case on Tuesday evening at Willen Road. Home form has been good of late with four consecutive wins over Halstead Town in the FA Vase (see report), Wembley (see report), Crawley Green and Potton United (see report) however the 3-1 defeat to Leverstock Green at Hitchin Road on 3 October (see report) was disappointing after Scott Piggott had netted early on. There was also a recent FA Vase First Round proper exit at Gorleston (see report) when having led 2-0 after just half an hour, through goals from Scott Piggott and Alex Coppin, the Eastern Counties League Premier Division side went on to win 4-2:

Credit to the Herts Senior County League for re-starting their campaign yesterday afternoon, unlike other League's, Baldock Town Reserves entertained table topping Tring Town AFC in a Division Two fixture resulting in a 4-2 defeat, Robbie Dewing and Joseph Fantom netted. Next Saturday (12 December) sees Baldock Town Reserves travel to high flying Hemel Hempstead Rovers who are one of only three sides in the entire League still unbeaten, they then go to Wormley Rovers Reserves the following Saturday (19 December). The First Team meanwhile return to SSML Premier Division action next Saturday when they travel to Cow Lane to take on Tring Athletic followed by a visit to Biggleswade United a week later (19 December), it has been a fairly mediocre campaign so far for Rob Bates's men who should have really been in FA Vase Second Round action yesterday afternoon when disappointingly throwing away a 2-0 lead at Eastern Counties League Premier Division outfit Gorleston in the last round.

A link to an interesting Blog covering Baldock Town and going back to the 2014/15 campaign, Luke Gregson had just taken over the reins from previous Manager Scott Grant who had been in charge for some five seasons, overseeing the Club's exciting transition from the Hertfordshire Senior County League to the SSML prior to surprisingly stepping down:
