A lengthy wait to the next League fixture although Real Bedford travel to AFC Caddington next Saturday (21 January) in a Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy Quarter Final tie, kick off 2.00pm, unfortunately no live stream for the Club's thousands of overseas fans to enjoy

This afternoon's scheduled Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy Quarter Final tie at AFC Caddington has unfortunately been called off, the competition is becoming a huge 'bugbear' for the Club and with it taking priority over League fixtures.

On the Club's website and Twitter it states that the Wellingborough Whitworth game is still going ahead next Saturday (28 January) however on Full Time the Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy Quarter Final tie at AFC Caddington has been re-arranged, could it not be switched to McMullen Park and be played midweek if AFC Caddington agree. If, as fully expected, Rugby Borough win at Holmer Green on Saturday they will be just six points behind Real Bedford in the table, is that a 'level playing field'.

Surprise surprise, Saturday's (28 January) scheduled League fixture with Wellingborough Whitworth at McMullen Park has been put on the 'back burner' in place of the re-scheduled Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy Quarter Final tie at AFC Caddington. Therefore the next League fixture and live stream will now be on Tuesday 31 January when Rob Sinclair's men travel to Eaton Socon:

If you fast forward to 8 minutes and 30 seconds of this informative Northamptonshire Football Podcast it features Northampton ON Chenecks 3-1 defeat at McMullen Park on Tuesday 10 January. The Club's Management team I believe it is aren't overly complimentary despite saying that Real Bedford did well to get the game on, they sarcastically call the Club 'Crypto Bedford', say the ground is 'squeezed' behind the back of The Eyrie with 'portakabin' dressing rooms and hospitality facilities and say you can see why Rob Sinclair's team concede goals. Perhaps it was just 'sour grapes' following the 3-1 defeat which could well have been more:

To be fair it is squeezed round the back of The Eyrie with portakabin dressing rooms and bar. Not sure what is sour grapes about that. Plus they complement them for getting the game on.

Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy Quarter Final action today then at AFC Caddington, kick off is at 2.00pm. The tie is not being live streamed which would have been difficult anyway at basic Manor Road, we will have to wait until Tuesday and the interesting looking League visit to Eaton Socon:

I hope there were abacusus available yesterday at Manor Road, AFC Caddington 0 Real Bedford 13, it can't be far off the record win in the Club's history. Lets hope it didn't take too much out of the team ahead of Tuesday evening's tricky looking visit to Eaton Socon:

Cruz, yes, it's very disappointing isn't it, why did he not remain at McMullen Park and at least see out the promotion campaign as AFC Rushden & Diamonds are currently rock bottom of the Southern League Premier Division Central and pretty much already relegated:

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are thrilled to announce the signing of 30-year-old striker Jim Burnside from Spartan South Midlands League Division One side Real Bedford.

A prolific scorer in the United Counties League and Spartan South Midlands Leagues in recent years, Jim started scoring goals at Potton United but it was at Newport Pagnell Town where he really made his name. A goal-laden spell averaging close to a-goal-a-game over 3 seasons made him one of the most sought-after strikers in the local area.

Jim left Newport Pagnell in the summer, his final appearance coming at Wembley as the Swans lifted the FA Vase, beating Littlehampton Town 3-0 in the final.

Burnside continued scoring goals at Step 6 with Real Bedford in the early months of this season, but is keen to make the step up and test himself at a higher level. Manager Chris Nunn, who has watched Jim many times over recent years, had this to say: “Jim will be a pain in the backside to all the defenders that come up against him between now and the end of the season. He’s a physical presence, a real handful and he doesn’t stop working and running for the team. More than that though, he’s a natural goalscorer and those are hard to come by. I really like what we’ve got at the top end of the pitch now but we’re missing experience. Not any more! He’s desperate to be here and prove himself at this level, it’s that hunger and attitude that I’m looking for in all of the players I’m bringing to the football club.”

Subject to league approval, Jim Burnside is available for selection for Saturday’s Pitching In Southern League Premier Central fixture against Rushall Olympic at Hayden Road.

If you would like to sponsor Jim, please contact Alex Raspin

The match report from the 13-0 rout at AFC Caddington on Saturday. Real Bedford will travel to Leighton Town Development in the Semi Final of the Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy on Saturday 18 February meaning that the scheduled League fixture at McMullen Park against Buckingham Athletic is called off, surely the tie can be played during midweek under the Bell Close floodlights:

Magic number to promotion is down to 40 points. Of course they've got to handle their business over the next few weeks especially but they are in a pretty brilliant position to this point.

Surely it's unfair that Real Bedford do not, once again, have a League fixture this afternoon (4 February), if, as fully expected, Rugby Borough win their fixture at Northampton ON Chenecks they will be just three points behind Rob Sinclair's men this evening with 'D-Day', and the all important meeting between the two sides, just three weeks away on Saturday 25 February. A frustrated Rob Sinclair touches on this during his post match interview on Tuesday evening following the excellent 3-0 win at Eaton Socon and he is clearly unimpressed with the way the fixtures have favoured Rugby Borough:

Good result for Real Bedford. ON Chenecks 2 Rugby Borough 1. This result has made my weekend. Perfecto.

Cruz- Yes, I didn't see that result coming however I see that Rugby Borough travel to Rushden & Higham United tomorrow evening so they will still be just three points behind Real Bedford going into Saturday's games, Northampton Sileby Rangers won't be pushovers at McMullen Park will they:

Rugby Borough should get the win tonight closing to within 3 points but with two extra games played. Bedford is going to have to play very well this month or could let a number of teams back into the fray. I don't consider Rugby the only competition down the stretch for the league crown. Ampthill Town, Rangers and Chenecks all actually stand equal to or above Rugy in points per game. They are all right there and a single loss to any of them eliminates any cushion you once had. Of course, if we can manage some head to head wins there we can start to dream of the premier division next season.

RallyInRaleigh - Yes, no difficulties for Rugby Borough last night in a 4-0 win at disappointing Rushden & Higham United, who didn't appear to put up a fight, which makes it all the more surprising that they lost 2-1 at Northampton ON Chenecks last Saturday, Northampton ON Chenecks could not beat lowly Wellingborough Whitworth at home last night. As you pointed out there is just three points separating the Club's now in the table, historically points already on the board are a lot better than having games in hand but we will see with the meeting between the sides at Kilsby Lane looming on Saturday 25 February.
