We are getting closer to a thread for every SSML Club but not Sarratt as yet, a Club established in 1919 who only joined the SSML as recently as 2018/19 having played since 1977/78 in the Herts County Senior League, starting in Division 3 and impressively gaining promotion to Division 2 in their first season, promotion to Division 1 followed in 1979/80 and then to the Premier Division in 1987/88. Sarratt is a historic village, dating back to around 700 AD, which sits in an area of Government designated outstanding natural beauty surrounded by fields which roll down to the Chess Valley riverbed, the village Church of the Holy Cross is a hugely famous landmark dating back to 1190 and Roman tiles were used in its construction, the Church has been a location for many films including Four Weddings And A Funeral so Hugh Grant has set foot inside (sorry). The Covid-19 pandemic cruelly deprived Sarratt from respectfully marking the 75th anniversary of a WWII mid air tragedy immediately over the village on 31 March 1945, less than six weeks before the end of the war, when six US serving officers were killed following an accidental collision including 23 year old WAAC Emma Windham, the only senior US aircrew female killed on duty during the whole of WWII, a Remembrance Service had been planned on 31 March at the Church of the Holy Cross but had to be cancelled. The Wycombe Wanderer visited Sarratt's King George V Playing Fields as recently as Saturday 27 July last year for the pre-season friendly visit of Enfield Borough, resulting in a 2-2 draw, and gives the usual excellent account of his day out with nice photographs:

Sarratt Reserves have been allocated a Herts Senior County League Division Three place again for the coming season, who can forget their 2018/19 Greg Cup Final win against Chipperfield Corinthians at Top Field on Thursday 25 April 2019, the Cold End was in attendance and if he reads this I hope he is keeping well and looking forward to proper football starting again soon:

YouTube highlights from the Anagram Records Trophy First Round tie between Sarratt and London Samurai Rovers on Saturday 19 October 2019 which Sarratt won 5-1 to progress to the Second Round where they beat Hampton Town 4-3 in a thriller at the King George V Playing Fields. Unfortunately the Quarter Final tie against Hilltop did not happen due to a postponement on 29 February and then the virus arriving just before the re-arranged date of 14 March which also put paid to Bovingdon's Quarter Final tie at Green Lane with Letchworth Garden City Eagles:

Three links from when anoraks have visited the King Gerorge V Playing Fields in the past including the one posted earlier by the Wycombe Wanderer, unlike the village itself Sarratt Football Club's history since 1919 is somewhat sketchy and there are long periods lost in time before the Club joined the Herts County Senior League in 1977/78, if anyone has details they would be welcomed:

Confirmation of Sarratt Reserve team's place in the Herts Senior County League Division Three for the coming season, it looks an interesting and competitive division:

Nice photographs and a match report from Sarratt v Aston Clinton in a 2018/19 SSML Division 2 Cup Second Round tie, at the King George V Playing Fields on Saturday 8 December 2018, which Aston Clinton won 4-1 on their way to the Final that season. Aston Clinton had also won the League fixture at the King George V Playing Fields 2-0 a month or so earlier however Sarratt gained sweet revenge in February winning 3-2 at Aston Clinton Park:

Nice photographs from Aston Clinton v Sarratt in a 2018/19 SSML Division 2 fixture, at Aston Clinton Park on Saturday 16 February 2019, which Sarratt surprisingly won 3-2 after Aston Clinton had won 2-0 at Sarratt in November and also 4-1 at the King George V Playing Fields in a Division Two Cup Second Round tie in December:

Sarratt unfortunately drew the short straw when the SSML Division Two fixtures were released recently and they travel to Championship favourites Old Bradwell United on Saturday 19 September for their first SSML Division Two fixture of the new campaign, they then welcome Mursley United to the King George V Playing Fields the following Saturday. Strangely Sarratt and Old Bradwell United failed to meet in the League last season prior to the curtain descending prematurely due to the Corona virus however they did lock horns at Abbey Road in a Division Two Cup First Round tie with Old Bradwell United comfortable 3-0 winners.

Strangely, Sarratt Reserves met Mill End Sports again on Saturday afternoon in only their second Herts Senior County League Division Three fixture of the new campaign and won 3-2 with the winning goal coming from defender Graham Comper, the Herts Senior County League fixture Secretary may wish to speak to Karen about how to do the job. A nice photograph below of Sarratt's Reserves team squad which I believe was taken before last week's game at Mill End Sports Penn Road ground in Rickmansworth:

A disappointing afternoon for Sarratt with the First team going down 4-0 at Old Bradwell United in their first Division Two fixture of the new SSML campaign and the Reserve side losing 3-2 to Oxhey Jets Vets in the Herts Senior County League Division Three at the King George V Playing Fields having done well to win their opening two games. It was always going to be an impossible task at Abbey Road and so it proved with Old Bradwell United scoring on seven minutes from the spot, it was however still only 1-0 at the interval but not for very long as goals on 54, 62 and 70 minutes sealed Sarratt's fate, they entertain Mursley United next Saturday whilst the Reserves go to Knebworth Reserves.

Sarratt's First team entertain Mursley United this afternoon in their second SSML Division Two outing of the new campaign whilst the Reserve side go to Knebworth Reserves for a Herts Senior County League Division Three fixture. The Reserves started the season in fine fettle with two wins over Mill End Sports however met a strong Oxhey Jets Vets side last Saturday, losing 3-2 at the King George V Playing Fields:

Sarratt's First team entertain Mursley United this afternoon in their second SSML Division Two outing of the new campaign whilst the Reserve side go to Knebworth Reserves for a Herts Senior County League Division Three fixture

What a Saturday afternoon for Sarratt Football Club, the First team beat Mursley United 7-1 at the King George V Playing Fields with goals from Luca Rita, a brace from Craig Petersen and four from Zamar Beckford, whilst the Reserve team were equally as impressive at Knebworth Reserves, winning 5-2 in a Herts Senior County League Division Three fixture (see Knebworth's match report and programme below). To cap it all First team boss Martin Loakes was on the BBC Three Counties Radio Non League Show yesterday afternoon speaking to Ollie Bayliss about the victory over Mursley United and the Club in general who won the team of the week award for their performance. Next Saturday (3 October) the First team entertain The 61 FC (Luton) whilst the Reserves travel to Lemsford Reserves who they should not under estimate having taken a point at high flying Oxhey Jets Vets on Saturday:

On a wet afternoon, Knebworth Reserves hosted Sarratt Reserves at The Rec. The Ks were coming off a 1-0 loss to Division 2 side Wormley Reserves in the Greg Cup, where they displayed many positives.

Sarratt started the game as the better team as the Ks looked to compose their frantic start. Early in the game Sarratt scored their first goal as the Ks were yet to get a foot on the game. A free kick was awarded to Knebworth on the half line which Jack Dunn played long looking for target man, Tom Grieveson. After the defender misjudged the flight of the ball, new fans-favourite Grieveson slotted the ball home to level things.

As the first half continued, Sarratt grew stronger in the game, responding well making the game, 2-1 then 3-1 in quick concession. The Ks seemed to lose confidence, and frustration amongst individuals was evident. Sarratt’s right back picked up the ball just inside of the Ks half and managed to beat four Knebworth defenders before slotting the ball in the bottom right corner to make it 4-1. As the half was drawing to an end, Knebworth started an attack on the right with the impressive Tommy Rowe and Ollie Mitchell. After linking up, the ball was swung towards the six-yard box, where the ball was met by the diving head of the studded Puma Kings wearing, Tom Grieveson, resulting in the score being 4-2 at half time.

The second half began and the Ks looked to press the opposition high up the pitch and counteract the threat of Sarratt’s long ball. However, Sarratt’s left winger picked up the ball inside Knebworth’s half and managed to lob Alfie Pettitt with an expert finish. It was a finish no keeper would have saved, making the score 5–2. The Ks continued to work hard and showed a much better attitude in comparison to the first half, moving the ball at a faster tempo and committing in challenges. Grieveson netted his third goal of the afternoon only to see it ruled out after growling at the opposition defender who swung wildly and missed the ball enabling the striker to put the ball into the net. With the goal wiped off the scoresheet and Grieveson getting a yellow card for his comedic antics. The game was brought to an end with the score finishing 5-2. The Ks looked a much more determined side during the second half however their slow start meant they were always chasing the game. The boys will look to respond to today’s performance by getting a win against next week’s opposition Evergreen Reserves.

No problems reported weatherwise for Sarratt's games this afternoon, I expect The 61 FC (Luton) were rather hoping that the SSML Division Two fixture would be called off seeing as Sarratt beat Mursley United 7-1 last Saturday at the King George V Playing Fields, what is it likely to be today:

Unfortunately Sarratt's First team game with The 61 FC (Luton) at the King George V Playing Fields has been called off however the Reserve team's Herts Senior County League Division Three fixture at Lemsford Reserves goes ahead, I wonder whether Martin Loakes will want some of his First team players still lacking match fitness to make the trip and ask for them to be in the side or at least on the bench.

A disappointing two weeks for Sarratt Reserves, firstly going down 2-1 at Lemsford Reserves last week in difficult conditions and then losing 4-0 at the King George V Playing Fields on Saturday (10 October) to Chipperfield Corinthians Reserves in a Cecil Hudson Cup Second Round tie, having received a First Round bye, indeed it could have been far worse with the interval score already 4-0, this Saturday it's back to Herts Senior County League Division Three action and a trip to Harpenden Rovers, kick off 2.30pm. Meanwhile the First team were at the Lace Hill Sports and Community Centre to take on Buckingham United who had just appointed new Manager John Walton who, unfortunately for Martin Loakes's men, hit the ground sprinting with a 4-1 win (see video footage below), substitute Kristof Gdyztongi got the consolation goal. Next Saturday (17 October) Sarratt entertain New Bradwell St Peter who, before last Saturday, you would have expected to be easy meat, however they somehow beat Berkhamsted Raiders 4-1 at the Recreation Ground:
